How many times do you think he craved it over the years. How haunted was he by this. How hard was it for him to make friendships with other humans because of this. half-foots are often mistaken for young tallmen or dwarves by people who don’t know about them.

But Chilchuck is like the 6’5” of half-foots. I wonder if he’s not even immune to that in half-foot communities. Like imagine you’re at the market and you see the tallest guy you ever saw. Like “holy shit he’s tall” tall. He’s a head taller than everyone else. APPARENTLY half-foots and tallmen can have fertile children. People probably constantly ask him if he’s half-tallman or half-dwarf. Maybe not dwarf cause he’s so skinny.

Chilchuck is also a middle child of 5 siblings. I wonder if his whole family is like that or if he’s just token beanpole. Man, the whiplash he must’ve felt the first time he went to a more diverse area and everyone started calling him small. no wonder he drinks

can I confess something really inconsequential 🫣 I don’t really like when people draw the dungeon meshi half-foots with tails….

WHICH LIKE if people like it that’s fine!! I’m not gonna try to pretend like people are wrong for it or that it’s problematic or smth. I know it’s a common thing to depict halflings/hobbits from other media with tails, and I like when people do that for those!

it’s mostly cause of that daydream hour comic where Kabru tells Hien that “human” is one species and all the races have the same number of bones, and the reason orcs and kobolds are instead considered demi-human is because they have a different number of bones.

so whenever I see it all I can think is “AUGHHHH BUT THE CULTURAL AND POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS!!!” and then I remember this is all make believe and I go outside

i've been watching dungeon meshi

laois is way more thoughtful and caring than others give credit. hes played to be stupid a lot, and he can be careless or not notice "basic" things but it is clear he puts a lot of care and love into what he can in the way he can

ie when he knows about the dungeon rabbits, he gives the piece of his armor needed to marcille while putting trust in her that she can handle it if needed and nobody else can revive them.

he genuinely thinks abt what to do when falin gets out of the dungeon, where she could live and how to hide her chimera half. and when its suggested they eat her chimera half, while everyone else sort of thinks its ricidulous (besides senshi) he is already trying to figure it out

laois places a great deal of trust in everyone around him and really respects them. even with toshiro, while he does microaggression him, he deeply admires him. he might be awkward with his party members without falin "translating" for him/explaining his thought process but he is always doing what he thinks is best for everyone

and while its goofed about, his love for monsters is totally understandable when the world has been so cruel to him and falin as well. his town seemed very conservative and people are confusing. he does his best but its undeniably relatable as an autistic person to feel you relate more to monsters than people

people greatly oversimplify senshi. he is a much more complex and caring person than people give credit, and its a shame to see how hes treated in fanwork when we see so much nuance from him throughout the story. his backstory and life experiences are barely ever acknowledged, and itd be really nice to see him as more as "the guy who cooks" and memes about his bulge or whatever
