Tbf for AAVE specifically, I think we need to just note who our allies are and otherwise let it go. Our language has **always** become the basis of hood slang, and because of that, we've **always** had it co-opted: first by poor non-Black minorities, and then by more privileged folks [most notably and irritatingly, yt ppl]. Calling out an appropriated Blaccent, especially when it's being profited off of, will forever be important. But it's also getting into muddy waters and emboldening white "allies" to police others over it IRL. For example, my German punk friend recently got berated by a white American for using the socialist solidarity fist (which is where the Black Power fist originated). I've seen Latinx friends "called out" for using a supposed Blaccent when they were just raised in the hood.
It's annoying, yes, but even white/ non-Black gays are often just matching the coding of their found families. Black queers have often been in leadership in spaces where disowned, abused, or otherwise unsafe queer people can gather, *especially* in Ball culture, so it makes sense that they'd mimic their heroes, or ppl they spend a lot of time around.
Part of the misfortune of being Black in America is that our culture, built from the ground up, has been both stolen from us repeatedly, and shared by us with others out of necessity and love. It's hard to ask for cultural isolation and gatekeeping as a minority without cutting off the communities we've shared. I think the best solution is to let clowns look like clowns and save our breath for those who **need** to be called out.
None of this, of course, accounts for non-Muslims appropriating Islamic phrases for jokes, because that is **insane** and y'all deserve to gatekeep the fuck out of that.
I think we should start gatekeeping language and dialects. Because we shouldn’t have to suffer through some white twink butchering AAVE on TikTok, or a group of white bloggers stumbling through Arab phrases and sayings because they think it’s quirky.

This post is addressed to the Palestinians in Ghazzah following me. If someone is asking you to send them money to put your fundraiser on their website or whatever and telling you you won't have your fundraiser succeed otherwise, do not listen to him he is scamming you or lying to you.
Everything I've done on this blog has been to help people. I do not charge anyone money EVER. I don't even ask my other followers to send me any cash. DO NOT LISTEN TO SOMEONE ASKING YOU FOR MONEY.

public libraries are so sick. there are five books I want to read and they're all relatively new so they're only available in hardback which is so expensive but it just cost me $0 to place holds on them. five books for zero dollars. it requires nothing but clicking a button and then going to the library to pick them up when they're ready. zero dollars. that's crazy

Being a “Fun Fact !” kind of autistic is all fun and games until you get halfway through sharing an interesting tidbit and realize that it probably wasn’t appropriate to share in polite company and now you have to deal with the consequences :(

I think some people get “I approve of this morally” and “I don’t approve of this morally but realistically fighting a crusade against it would cause more harm than good” confused in fandom spaces.
Is there certain types of fanfic I don’t enjoy the existence of? Yes. Do I think going on a tirade against those types of fanfic would cause any type of positive change in the world? No. It would cause more problems for me, my online followers, and fanfic writing as a whole.
Like there’s certain immoral or gross things in this world that going after them causes more tangible harm than the thing itself. That’s also why I’m not specifying which types of fanfic or literature I find morally questionable. Bringing those up would cause a storm about it. People would focus in on that when that’s not the point of this post. I’m not aiming to open old wounds or tell people what kinds of things they should or shouldn’t indulge in if they’re not tangibly harming anyone in a major way. The harm I could potentially cause by inflaming old debates or starting new ones has the potential to be more harmful than the things I don’t like in the first place.
