The “sentence fragment, clip, sentence fragment, clip” style of movie trailer is unbearable. I don’t care if they scientifically determined it to be the most memorable format or whatever, that in itself is part of what feels insulting.

Hey hey, I know you get quite a few asks about bugs, so I thought you might like to share this with your followers, idk I think some might enjoy it :) https://www.coursera.org/learn/bugs-101
It's a free introductory course from the University of Alberta, and it's easy to follow along so there's no need for any background knowledge. I took it for fun and I found it enjoyable. They also offer a bunch of other 101 courses in different subjects, I think it's pretty fun lol
Anyways I'm just very excited to see people interested in insects :D Really all of arthropoda is a joy (tho I believe in coleoptera supremacy ehehe)
Yeah I think a lot of people who follow me will enjoy this, especially that it consists mainly of videos!

I saw this at the grocery store and was so curious as to what the hell a “creamy” pepsi is supposed to be so I bought a can and it is literally just exactly the flavor and consistency of regular soda that’s gone totally flat, it’s hilariously vile for over $2 a can

Obviously there’s a couple notes pointing out how there are kind sweet christians who accept everybody and don’t even believe in hell or any of that fucked up shit and that’s true, yes, even one or two entire churches are like that these days and doing their best to spread that thinking, but let’s be real: that's not the default. Those are people who chose to rebel against the default. The mainstream heart of what they’re taught is that you aren’t even a thinking feeling person if you aren’t one of them. Like here’s a comment from just the last disqus conversation I was in, which wasn’t even originally about religion, sexuality or politics or anything. It was just about gaming or anime or some shit, I don’t remember or care now, there’s just people like this EVERYWHERE you go that you’ll never even notice until they’re driven to come out and say what they really believe:

I just don’t get it. How can our society act so goddamned normal about seahorses. How can anybody so casually accept that that’s a fish???
Tumblr media
This is one of nature’s most anatomically perverse of all beasts. A FISH, like a carp or a bass or a beta is a fish, but it bent its body straight up only to bend its head permanently back down. It stretched its skull into a pipe. It tapered its tail like a lizard, specifically like a chameleon. It can also move its eyes independently by the way, you know, like a chameleon. Fun fact, it can change color to express its mood, like you know whatever does that. It doesn’t properly swim anymore. It buzzes its few remaining fins like an insect’s wings to float itself around at a snail’s pace. It lives its whole life clinging to coral branches or seaweed, which means it decided to become a “tree dweller” in an environment where gravity didn’t even matter anyway. The males get pregnant. They make noises at each other by rubbing some of their neck bones together. Every day, EVERY DAY a mated pair does a little dance and a little neck bone song so they remember which two seahorses they were. They’re a beautiful precious obscenity. Nothing so adorable ever made such a strong case against a logical creator.
They have as little skin and meat as they could get away with. Their skeleton is almost all they are.

Iuiuniscus iuiuensis is apparently a beautiful little spiny isopod discovered in 2016 from only one single cave in the world, where it builds its own littler caves in mud that only flows in through a single small sinkhole at the cave’s only entrance.

I just read the word hyperparasites from my gardening app. Do you have any information on this?
Yes it's any parasite whose only host is another parasite! It's most common among wasps, with many parasitoid wasps having parasitoids of their own, and sometimes even a third layer, a hyperhyperparasitoid. One of the most extreme hyperparasites is Liriopsis pygmaea:
Tumblr media
This is the abdomen of a crab infected with a Rhizocephalan, a parasitic barnacle that reduces down to nothing but a tissue network in the crab's body with a large fleshy sac on the outside, which is what the arrow is pointing to. The white spheres are a hyperparasite , Liriopsis, that evolved to live only on this barnacle; they're totally immobile and limbless, but they're actually a species of isopod!

Even if I were as big a Star Wars fanatic as I was at 12 I’d now be so, so, so, so sick to death of any new media connected in any way to the original trilogy’s characters. I don’t think anyone in its fandom really wants to know more about Chewbacca’s mom or the origin of Lando’s shoes or some shit. It’s just all they’re being offered. Even the spinoff stuff tries to recapture the feel of specific existing characters. Quit making Han Solos. If I had to watch another Star War movie I’d want not only new characters and settings but completely different *kinds* than it’s ever focused on before. I wouldn’t even mind it still being about the force and lightsaber fights if you really needed that to be the connection. A few episodes of that animated anthology last year were probably the best stuff in the franchise. The one that was just a ripoff of Astroboy was literally better than all 11 movies.

Yeah like several have said, insurrection against your government isn’t wrong. Literally everyone already agrees with this whether they know it or not. We celebrate the history of countless examples, we depended on it again and again to even get where we are, we make entire entertainment franchises glorifying rebellion against corrupt authority, it’s in our blood. The January 6 “protest” by Qanon can only be condemned because their reason for protesting wasn’t real. The election wasn’t stolen and couldn’t have been; Trump already lost 2016 by millions of votes and was already hated then by the majority of America. He was only handed presidency by a slim margin of electorates, and he spent four years making direct enemies of several of them while backing out of several of the very reasons they gave him their support to begin with. America did not want Trump, did not do well under Trump, and successfully voted him out. But I AM disgusted, and everyone should be disgusted, that in each election against Trump the democratic candidate muscled their way to the top and rode on past fame with no substantial promises to genuinely help people. In fact the entire fucking reason we now have to deal with such a twisted radical right is that Democrats might have helped the rise of Trump under the assumption they’d be sabotaging their opponents. It’s not just some conspiracy, but an established and named political tactic that has been done many times before, all around the world. I would absolutely celebrate Biden, Hillary and every other Democrat being ripped forcibly out of their seats of power right alongside the entire GOP by an army of citizens. Literally the entire U.S. government is so irredeemable and so responsible for so much suffering I wouldn’t even mourn the very, very best and kindest of them if the entire senate just fucking vaporized with all of them in it. The rare few with human souls would probably agree with me anyway. :)
This isn’t even radicalism. It’s not even unpopular opinion! Almost everybody in America is angry at the government and wishes they could tear down at least half of it. They’re only split on which half is the real source of all their misery, and many of them have been trained by their own preferred party to just blame gay people or immigrants or the “uneducated south.” Conservatives would just have to stop demonizing their fellow victims over gender or religion and liberals would have to stop believing that you can defeat bad guys by voting and arguing alone.
Conservatives ARE right about one thing: guns can in fact help protect your freedom. For instance, against conservatives, who have already taken away freedoms and want to take away more of them. Many types of gun should be banned or heavily restricted, but no, never all of them, and it would in fact rule if every single person protesting against the SCOTUS had a gun in their hands for it. That’s literally what’s *supposed* to be so important about the right to bear arms.
