“Sod off,” I called, ignoring all the aggressiveness of someone clearing their throat, hoping to gain my attention. I didn’t even bother looking up, I wasn’t interested, whatever it was. I sat on the train, 6th miserable year, I didn’t want to have to deal with anyone more than I had to. I was definitely not expecting annoyance this soon. I pulled up my hood, that had been allowing me to sleep in peace, to see a glimpse of a blonde boy, “Uh, hello did you hear me? Sod off.” At this the noises had stopped, a scoff came from the boy, followed by gasps he was clearly irritated. “Who do you think you are?! Do you know-” To make things short, I wasn’t in a good mood and didn’t want or need to deal with this. So I stood up my eyes finally meeting his, “Know who you are? No, and nor do I care.” At this he became livid, and I was about to find out why. I’ve never taken anything from anyone and I wasn’t going to start now. That’s why I was less than interested at who he was. It wouldn’t make a single difference. “I’m Draco Malfoy!” He almost screeched, it looked as if he was going to stomp on the floor and wail his arms any moment at this I stood up straight. Of course, I had heard his stupid name. You can’t go 6 years at Hogwarts without hearing it, along with Harry Potter. I knew of the rivalry, and wouldn’t be caught 10 feet near it. That’s why I hadn’t a clue what he looked like. Now I took him in, cold grey eyes that lacked compassion, blonde almost white hair, and pale flawless skin. I didn’t think to connect it, showing him no interest. His hair, eyes, and skin, it all matched what I knew about him.
Of course just what I needed. Draco little bitch Malfoy. My day couldn’t get any worse. “Uh, Draco Malfoy? As in the Draco Malfoy?” I gulped sulking back into my seat, realizing just who I had been sassing. With a sinister, smug expression he nodded as if he was waiting for me to beg for forgiveness. Before he could grace me with his threats, more like his fathers, I spoke, “The one who cries to daddy every chance he gets?” I snickered, not holding back, relieved to drop my facade. I just couldn’t keep it up anymore. I refused showed him what he liked, any fear, or from what he was used to respecting. He was used to people spoiling him and holding their breath, but it seems I had no filter what so ever.  I couldn’t contain her laughter, as it rang through the halls, traveling still farther. His face quickly turned to a scowl, like he smelt something almost as rotten to the core as him. He didn’t like being contradicted, he liked being feared, but I was proving to be challenging. He quickly spun on his heels, no insult he would say would matter anyway. Completely disregarding why he went in there in the first place. He pushed past his two Slytherin friends as he moved furiously past the room. He refused to be so close to it, the two couldn’t hear much through the door. Just some of what Draco was shouting. They shrugged, blindly following, as usual, they didn’t know what else to do. They assumed I was going to be kicked out soon, instead, he practically ran out of there. the two boys looked in the room and saw me laughing almost hysterically. They decided to follow Draco, slightly uncomfortable. They tripped over themselves and when they saw him. They couldn’t decide who was scarier, he was fuming and livid. I was the complete opposite but she was just as terrifying.
Before we were sorted into the Great Hall, whispers followed me like shadows. People shrunk in fear if I could make Draco run out of the room what would I do to them. I smirked, I could get used to this. I had managed to get away with murder since Harry Potter was always wreaking havoc. Some nights I crept into the restricted side of the library and educated myself in anything I could. I could take out anyone with a hand tied behind my back. I had been to the forbidden forest more times then I could count and now I knew it like the back of my hand. I knew things that could ruin lives. I was undetected and after the train altercation, I decided to pay a visit to Draco. He was speaking to Pansy and Blaise, about an important mission he had been given by Voldemort. Speak of the Devil, I looked up from the table, feeling eyes piercing into me. Grey eyes narrowed in my direction, I rolled my eyes and fixed my eyes on the speaker.
“What is with you? Get over it Y/N owned you.” A Slytherin commented, he was taken by surprise by Y/N. He couldn’t let people think that talking back to him was allowed. In the blink of an eye, Draco raised his fist and swung at the unsuspecting boy. His head hit the table with a loud thunk. “Draco Malfoy!” McGonagall hissed, “To the head master’s office this instant!” He smirked and wiped his arm under his nose making sure to lock his eyes on Y/N’s. He wanted to send a message, this was your fault. His face dropped when he noticed the seat was empty. He groaned, at least everyone else knew now, he was not going to be messed with. Draco exited the Great Hall, he was met with Y/N, he hissed, “What the bloody hell are you doing out here?” He was irritated that his whole show was missed.
I raised an eyebrow, “What’s it to you?” He crossed his arms over his chest, a drop of blood trickled from, his pale knuckles to the floor. He uncrossed his arms and examined his knuckles making his sleeve fall. My eyes shot to his wrist, sure enough, there was the dark mark. He tore his eyes away and they snapped to meet mine. He pulled up his sleeve and we stood in silence. “So it is true, you’re a death-” He quickly clasped his hand over my moat possibly be my fault? Draco was an idiot what did he think he was accomplishing? He only hurt his team, now Slytherin needed a new chaser, “Did I grab Draco and force him to? No, I didn’t, airhead.”
I slammed my book and went up the stairs to the dormitory, this time no one asked questions. I woke up to a tapping on the window, someone’s godamn owl. I opened it and it flew in and landed on my shoulder. I took the letter from his mouth. In very neat cursive writing there was a message.
We need to talk.
-Draco Malfoy
He kept to his word. The next day he made it very hard to ignore him. After every class, he made it a point to try and catch up. I was almost safe until I felt an arm wrap around me. I looked down and saw pale skin, I spun around. “You!” I groaned, he pulled me into a corner and placed his arms on either side of the wall. He didn’t let me move. “What do you know?” I tilted my head to the side, “Oh, you want me to say everything I know in this public hallway? If you insist-” Once again his hand clasped over my mouth I grabbed it and moved it. “Room of requirement.”
He followed me as I tugged him, and held tight onto his wrist. We got into the room and I slammed the door. “I’ll tell you everything I know, on one condition.” He pressed his lips closed and crossed his arms. His black suit clung to him, under the pressure of his arms. I studied his features he was attractive. I quickly collected myself, I didn’t want to give him that satisfaction. He rubbed his hand over face and sighed. He motioned with his hand to continue and nodded. “You teach me what you know. I know you can do nonverbal spells.” He scoffed and walked closer to me, “No. Absolutely not.” He held a finger to my face, appalled I even asked. I nodded and then proceeded to exit. He let out a growl and I smirked, “God, you drive me insane.” I spun back around to meet his gaze, I smiled sweetly. “Fine, what do you know.”
“I know you’re a death eater obviously, and that you were given a mission by Voldemort.”I didn’t know the details but that was enough to make hi squirm. He brought his hand to his mouth, trying to compose himself. Mentally he was kicking himself. He was a prideful idiot and this wouldn’t be the first time his pride got him into a mess. I would’ve never known anything if he didn’t keep his blabbering mouth shut. This was his mess and now he had to clean it up. “You will be my partner in potions, I can teach you in class so I don’t have to spend any more time than I need to. When I send you a letter, you come as soon as you’re told to.” He opened the door and brushed past me, I followed out after him. The halls went silent. Draco and I had been in the room together alone. Of course, teenagers spread rumors. Personally, I was unbothered, but I knew it really got under Draco’s skin.
Later that day I received an owl to meet Draco in the library. He sat at a table in the back, in between shelves. He did not want to be seen with me. I sat across from him and he shut his eyes and exhaled deeply. “Next to me. I can’t have anyone hearing our conversation.” Reluctantly I did as I was told, “Not so bloody close.” He rolled his eyes and I ignored him. He had an array of books laid out. They were not from the library but it wouldn’t raise eyebrows. “First I’m going to teach you the Protean Charm. It links two objects together for a common purpose, it will be faster to communicate so it benefits me to teach you. Take this quill.”
He pointed to the incantation and pulled out a similar quill. I attempted the incantation, “Incorrect.” He stood and grabbed my wand from me and demonstrated the right way to hold it. I took my wand back and he sighed, he went behind me and adjusted my hand. It just so happened to be his luck, a group of girls walked past. Draco froze, the girls giggled and he grabbed the books and my wrist and tugged me out of the library. He released when we were in a secluded place. ”That’s enough. Study chapter 25, and 26.” He gave me two books and walked away not giving me any time to question.
Draco hurried back to the Room of Requirement. He remembered the vanishing cabinet could be found there. He hoped, knowing it would influence the room. He held onto the doorknob and opened the door. Sure enough there it was. He grabbed the remaining book. He flipped through it, he needed to repair it, one of the first steps of his mission. He quickly realized a simple mending charm would not work. He was going to have to repair it in pieces. Then it struck him if he taught Y/N it could get done in half the time. Borgin said it would be difficult alone, and Y/N was a promising student. The quill Draco had asked Y/N to enchant began scribbling, “I’ve got it.”
