As much as I love Scarlett (I’m an avid Tella hater im sorry), Evangeline is absolutely my favorite MC that Stephanie has written so far.

Here you have a deeply lonely character who hasn’t even turned 18 yet. All Evangeline wants is love — she gives so much of it (again and again) and it’s all she wants back. She forgives Marisol, befriends Luc again, and gives Jacks and the other Fates second and third and fourth chances. That’s why it hurts so badly when she gets so little of it. Everyone in the book uses her. Tiberius (to frame her for murder), Marisol, her Stepmother, Chaos, LaLa, and even Jacks. She stayed the entire night hugging (kind of) almost-vampire Jacks in the crypt just for him to abandon her when it was her under the venom 😭. In Jacks’s own words, she’s “the unluckiest person he’s ever met.” Our poor girl cannot catch a break: everyone in the books manipulate her for their own gain while she gets absolutely nothing in return, despite getting things done for the people around her. She found the stones, she unlocked the arch, and what did she get as a thank you? Dying in the arms of her almost-lover, before being turned away cruelly by said almost-lover. Jeez.

But that’s why it’s so inspiring seeing her get back up again and again. Evangeline would kill them with kindness if she wasn’t nice enough to try and save each and every one of them. She hugs and forgives LaLa after she placed a curse on her. She tries to talk Petra out of killing her (we all know how that went, yikes). She chooses Jacks again and again, because that’s what love is. It’s everything she stands for: fighting for the people you love and never abandoning them.

Idk, maybe it’s just me, but I really would love to see more of the characters appreciating her, this girl and her blind faith in everything that moves, who’s stubborn and fearless and determined to help others instead of herself. So excited for acftl <3

I finished The Raven Cycle and my question is this: Why did Gansey bribe the headmaster to get Ronan a high school diploma? Bro can dream himself whatever he wants.

(Also, that bee thing was ridiculous. I still left the series with my heart all warm and fuzzy though.)

In my reread of The Dream Thieves I have gained a new appreciation for the sibling representation of Ronan “I hate Declan go die in a hole i will kill you myself I hate you I hate you I hate you” Lynch being morally outraged that the school let a nurse practitioner prescribe Declan sleeping pills instead of a doctor. I’d say quintessential sibling behavior, but it’s not even “no one hurts my sibling but me” —at this point Declan’s been beat to shit and Ronan doesn’t know who did it or why, but he is unequivocally on their side and NOT Declan’s because fuck Declan

and then he turns around and goes A NURSE PRACTITIONER??? Instead of a DOCTOR??? How dare they???

Llama Reads TRC: Chapters 11-18 of The Dream Thieves

Dream thieves update, I’m up to chapter 18 but the last several chapters were !! Something!! And I have many theories

So in chapter 11, we get a look at Ronan’s dreams. I honestly think that the forest Ronan was dreaming of might’ve been Cabeswater?? For one, he could hear the trees (then again, he couldn’t hear them when they were actually in Cabeswater) and then there’s the obvious fact of him writing “The trees speak Latin” on the rocks. I’m also really curious as to who the girl is? I feel like she’s important

Ok, skipping a few chapters ahead to 15, I’m still trying to wrap my head around how Cabeswater is gone? What I’m thinking is that Ronan dreamt Cabeswater?? but I ehhh I don’t think that theory holds. It doesn’t really explain why Cabeswater is suddenly moved or hidden either.

OK I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ABOUT CHAPTERS 17 AND 18 BECAUSE !! OUGH!?$?! Ok something is to be said about the symbolism behind the mask that Adam put on. Now I might be completely wrong but I think it has to do with Adam’s situation, like how he’s trying so hard to be someone he’s not, how he’s trying to fix his financial situation, and it’s represented through him not being able to pull the mask off. And then Ronan takes it off easily for him, which might reference him helping Adam with his rent. I don’t know what the part about Adam’s face being ripped off might mean but I’m not eager to find out 😀 !!

AND CHAPTER 18 !!! EVERYTHING ABOUT CHAPTER 18 AUGHH Just the imagery of Ronan standing with his back facing Gansey in the middle of Monmouth Manufacturing AND THE THING ABOUT RONAN LETTING GANSEY BELIEVE HE ALMOST KILLED HIMSELF OUGH GODDD Ronan must’ve felt so trapped in that situation and it must’ve been so awful for Gansey because he believes he has to carry his friends burdens but they can never carry his and ough sobbing AND THE FIGHT SCENE !!! God I love this book and I’m not even halfway through
