Having time to let inspiration work at its own pace does help. I could name more than a few occasions where I'd have benefited from a even an extra day or two. Still, the show must go one, so when time is in short supply we make do with what we have. Though if you ever find a way to poke inspiration into speeding up, I would be very interested to know.
Tumblr media
My younger self might have disagreed with you, and my daughter definitely would, but with age and experience, I would have to agree with you, if in different words. I'm hoping it's a long time before I have to explain herpes to Moriah
That it can be, though it helps that I'm a ways off from even considering publishing another book of poetry so have the time for inspiration to be its fickle and reluctant self.
Tumblr media
Glitter is evil and anyone whose says otherwise has clearly never tried to get it out of places where glitter shouldn't be in the first place. Carpets, hair, other more private places... herpes of craft supplies.

It being celebrations in general, celebrating yourself, or celebrating birthdays?
Tumblr media
I've never liked it. I mean, to some extent, I did like when we'd win with VA, knowing I was a big part of why, but other than that... Makes me feel really weird and not in a good way.

Barring a few last minute inspirations for those little something extras, we're all set this year.
Tumblr media
You're welcome.
Inspiration--and itinerary--incoming. It should be self explanatory (and colour coded), but if you have any questions, feel free to text me.
Tumblr media
Thank you, thank you.... I can totally understand that you're more into the commercial side of it. With a kid, it's way more fun to go for an egg hunt and have a huge breakfast or brunch with the whole family. Do you have everything ready for Passover this year or do you still have to stock up on things?
Uhm, thanks, I guess? I think I'm getting a little bit too old for the whole prank-pulling thing.
Oh, thanks. Any and all inspo is welcome. Feel free to use the map idea. It helped me out for many years now.

Can't wait.

I completely agree. I will adore my Fathers until the day I die, but all of you mean just as much to me.
Bubble bath can be arranged. I'll do me best with the cookies, but don't be too surprised if they come with a logo attached.
Deal, you'll get a whole photoshoot of me and my bubble bath crown.
Tumblr media
Family is like the most important thing ever, right? If you know what I mean, not just family-family but also your chosen family. Sometimes those are even more important. But that's just my 2 cents.
Uhm, some good bubble bath?? Ha. But seriously, I don't know, home made cookies are always welcome.

On that point we differ. I love being celebrated, even if it is for growing older. Though out of all the reasons to celebrate me, aging is near the bottom of the list.
Tumblr media
Honestly, I stopped at 18 and I was only counting til then because it meant freedom. Ever since I'm just... it never feels worth celebrating, I guess.

Creative inspiration can be a recalcitrant partner at time. As long as it comes through in the end, that's the key thing.
Tumblr media
I think in Moriah's case it's the latter. The older she gets, the more she wants to explore and experience, which can lead to some wonderful moments for all of us. It can also lead to some very intensive cleaning. I almost miss the crayon on the wall stag; glitter and glue and bits of craft paper are much harder to clean up when artistic expression goes beyond the craft table..
Tumblr media
I mean, the only really quiet part of all that is the writing, but it's all productive. Well, it all tries to be, at least.
Oh, 100% quiet kids are not a good thing. It's either mental illness or chaos and either way, there is usually something negative there in some way.

If it helps at all, I think you aren't alone in your feelings. We all go from counting the days until we're 'grown-up' to wondering where all the time went in what feels like a blink of an eye.
When the fuck did it suddenly become nearly my birthday? This is wrong. I'm not allowed to grow up anymore.

I'd take productive over quiet anyway. But given that my passion and profession are both Musical Theatre, I may be a little bias when it comes to silence.
Not to mention that as a Mother I've learned silence frequently means someone is up to something they shouldn't be.
Tumblr media
Interesting.
Not so sure about quiet, but it has been productive.

If you do, I will need pictures.

It can be a challenge getting all of our schedules to line up, but as they say, if it's important, you find a way. And family has always been very important to me.
Can't wait. I'll start putting together a housewarming basket for the big day. Anything in particular you'd like me to include?
A bubble crown? I never thought about doing that, but I'm going to try it next time I'm taking a bath.
Tumblr media
I can imagine that with Quinn's and your schedule, it's even harder to find time to visit Lima. For me, it's going to like double the road trip to go and see my folks, but you know me, I love going on trips and camping and stuff so that actually is more like a pro instead of a con.
Yeah, awesome! I'll let you know when things are fully done so you can come and visit.

First, let me begin by wishing you a Happy Easter. I admit that my own celebration of it has leaned more towards the commercial aspects than the religious as I traditionally celebrate Passover, but the last few years have given me a deeper connection to both sharing something like this with your child has that effect. Secondly, let me applaud you for not contributing to the sophomoric practice of April Fool's, whatever your reasons for it. As to your question, We have a few things planned, but nothing too far off the beaten path. I can send you a copy of my itinerary if you'd like for whatever inspiration it may provide. And I will be stealing your map idea.
Is Easter super early this year, or is it just me who feels that way? It's not even April! Speaking of that, I solemnly swear not to pull any April Fool's jokes on anyone this year. I don't know if it's cuz I'm getting older and I'm losing my touch or cuz I'm too tired to think of any good jokes. (Does anyone have something good planned? I promise not to steal your ideas.) Hopefully it's the last one and all it takes is a couple of nights of sleep. I forgot how much energy it takes to hide eggs in a new place. I had to find good hiding places and mark them all on a map so my yard doesn't start to smell really bad in a couple of days because some aren't found. Keep your fingers crossed that the neighbor's kids have fun.

I do. And I appreciate it more now than I ever have.
My daughter agrees with you. She's especially fond of using the extra bubbles for bubble crowns.
Tumblr media
That is one of the larger drawbacks to leaving your childhood hometown. Quinn and I try to make it back to Lima a few times a year to visit, and I try to get my fathers to come up for a weekend here or there when I can, but the distance does present an issue.
That said, I'll add you and your home to the list of places to visit as soon as those guest rooms are ready.
Ah, I get it. She starts looking more and more like her mom when it comes to that. Now you know what it's like to be in our shoes, ha. Still luv ya, a zillion questions and all, but you know that, right?
Wow, extra bubbles! Those bubble baths are even better than the normal ones.
Tumblr media
Yeah, you can. Moving up here has been a life-changer. A good one, something I should have done sooner. The only downside is that visiting my folks isn't as easy as it used to be, but I'll make it work. Plus they can always come and stay here for a few days when all the guestrooms are totally updated. Some goes for ya'll, feel free to drop by when you need a little escape from the city.

I know I didn't; though in my case the why was usually why I wasn't allowed to go the Barbra's house for a sleep over. At least until I started school. Then it was Why the other children didn't recognize my obvious talent.
Sounds like an quiet yet productive way to spend your time.
Fair enough.
Tumblr media
Oh kids don't fully grow out of the "why" phase until they hit elementary school and are able to ask more direct/specific questions. Though, honestly, depending on the kid, they may not entirely grow out of it.
Enlightening? Not really. Mostly been helping Sam with his home reno and hanging out with his dog, when I'm not working or writing.

It was enlightening if nothing else. And we did get the seedlings started. All in all, I'd give us a B-.
Tumblr media
Not particularly, no. But as I said, an enlightening experience. The oddest thing about it is that Moriah has already been through her 'why' phase months ago and I'm not sure what caused it to resurface now. Whatever the cause, I will be keeping a closer eye on my own interactions for the foreseeable future. And how are things on your end? Any enlightening of noteworthy events of late?
Sounds like you had quite the time.
Tumblr media
Oof, but I hear kids can do that to you. Show you just what other people have to deal with when they deal with you. Probably doesn't help anything, but...

It wasn't the explanation itself that took 2 hours; that took about 10 minutes. It was answering the many--and oft repeated--questions about various whys that took the remaining hour and 50 minutes.
But you are right; if not for Moriah's part in all this I wouldn't have ended our gardening session with a well deserved bubble bath. With extra bubble.
Tumblr media
And can I assume from your rosy outlook on life that things are going well for you?
Not gonna lie, kinda curious why it took 2 hours to explain why you weren't planting those seeds outside but hey, at least you finished the whole planting thing with a bubble bath, so that's good right?

After spending two hours explaining to my daughter why we we weren't planting them outside, I spent the last three hours cleaning up from her 'helping' me get my spring seeds potted, including a bubble bath for both of us.
Tumblr media
I'm starting to understand why some people find me exhausting.
Still love her to bits and wouldn't trade one second for anything.

With Thanksgiving approaching, I wanted to take a moment out and thank all of you for your support and love over the years, be you a fan, a friend, or family, I would not be who or where I am now without each and every one of you being a part of my life.
And if I can help any of you go vegan for this year's Thanksgiving feast, I would be happy to send you a list of my favourite dishes.

I'm not sure I'd consider getting mowed over by a St. Bernard a minor event. But as long as you're okay, it's a moot point.
Tumblr media
I mean, all he did was mow me over, he was off leash for a bit out in the woods.
