it really is so funny to think that the writers sat down to introduce eddie as a new main character in 2x01 and said "you know how we should get the audience on board with this character? we should have buck be really threatened and do this stupid peacocking macho dick-measuring contest that turns to grudging respect and eventual friendship, like maverick and iceman in top gun" and then the show ran long enough that they made buck canonically bi and accidentally retconned 2x01 into buck wanting to fuck eddie so bad it made him look stupid. like maverick and iceman in top gun
