j told me once. Greenpeace comes in as activists and pushes the mark. CI and TNC come in after the mark is pushed and work with the big guys to make meaningful, yet small, progress tangibly and in partnership. "both are needed, but you cannot be both."

I used to be the Greenpeace. breaking into dolphin pens and screaming about veganism, picket signs and debates. but I am the CI. and I dont think thats age or moderatism, because the Greenpeace is inside of me, but the CI is the impact plan.

decolonization of the mind means understanding saviorism is a form of colonization. I have always wanted to save others. animals from as young as I can remember. and now, causes. I now have the tools to be effective in impact work, instead of just an outcry of emotion to whoever was nearby from a bleeding heart, which was likely insufferable. do not return to old tactics in the face of big emotions. the most effective way to make an impact is to nurture the tools and relationships you have built with these decision makers.

but then I think about what will I give up in my lifes work? will my priorities change and my purpose be replaced? what halt in the career momentum will this mean?

is this way of thinking internalized patriarchy? is it foolish to think you can have it all without concessions?

we find joy in togetherness and Taylors new album and the people we love and the wildlife experiences Alex and I chase together. and it is happening at the same time as all of this. and you must hold them both closely without turning away from either. to feel deeply is a gift, empathy is a gift, to minimize these gifts is not in your highest good

coming back to the real world to learn rapists get their convictions overturned as long as they are rich enough even with the #metoo publicity level, national guard shows up for student protests against students but would never show up for school shootings, abortion is officially illegal in Florida, there was deathly levels of lead in lunchables our entire life, the infertility alarms ive been raising for years about plastics and toxic ingredients and fake food is now impacting people I fucking love, and we are all on month 8 of watching a genocide live.

society is collapsing, as we knew it would in our lifetime. but the concurrency of it all is indescribable.
