Trigun Fanfiction Appreciation Week!

This is not an unpopular opinion and is very much supported by the text and is The Point, but it is the reason I became obsessed with Vash in the first place. And it’s that Vash is really smart and knowledgeable, but he deliberately lets people perceive and feeds into the perception that he’s a dumbass. So, I watched Stampede first, it got me into Trigun, and there’s a moment in the first episode when they’re preparing for the duel and he smiles and waves at Meryl and then turns away and you can see his expression drop. You can literally see him drop the goofy mask and get serious, and that’s the moment I realized I wasn’t going to be normal about him at all.

But what’s even better about this is that the goofiness and kindness isn’t fake. It’s still a part of him. Everyone assumes his kindness and ideals are born from naïveté, but it’s not. He’s experienced the consequential suffering for his ideals and decided it was worth it.

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

i hate when girls feel dumb for trying to see the best in people and then end up hurt or disappointed like no!! it’s those people that were dumb for misleading you. they took advantage of your kindness and generosity, and they’ll rot for it

the humble "like" is oft mocked despite what it does for us. "like, three people" is a vastly different statement from "three people". "and i was like 'what the fuck'" is vastly different from "and i said 'what the fuck'". i love you "like" and anyone who says you make people sound stupid will be killed on sight

#once had a professor who would smuggly correct students whenever they used the word ‘like’ and make them repeat the sentence without it #I always told myself that if he ever did it to me I would replace it with a needlessly complex string of words #I can’t use like to convey my meaning? #well okay then: ‘in a manner akin to but not exactly’ #I never talked to the guy though bc I hated him so I never got the chance

We talk a lot about how once you’re an adult, you’re like “oh shit but I don’t feel like an adult.” And yeah, for sure. But I do want to mention that there’s also lots of times where I’m doing something very adulty, and I’m like yeah, I feel mature enough for this, I feel equipped to handle this, this is something I wouldnt have wanted to do ten years ago but find satisfying now, I enjoy the responsibility of what I’m doing, and I have expendable cash to spend on causes that matter to me and also novelty rain boots. It’s dope.

#genuinely looking forward to having a free Saturday this weekend so I can mop my kitchen floor #and not just in the sense that I’ll have a clean floor #like I’m excited to try out my new mop and mop bucket with separate sections for clean and dirty water #and for the process of cleaning #like there’s something satisfying about caring for my space #I also have to do dishes and I’m less excited about that one #but I’ll take the joy where I can lol
