Explaining Tacet Discords

Short thread I did for Twitter

Tacet Discords are sentient beings formed by the residual chaotic frequency energy. They have yellow Tacet Cores on their bodies, and amorphous, ever-changing shape. They instinctly feed on other frequencies to maintain stability and evolve.

These creatures mimic the abilities, shapes, and behaviors of others and are influenced by the types of frequencies they consume. There are 5 known Tacet Discord mimicry types listed on an in-game document: Whisperin, Howler, Tranquilite, Clamorling, and Staticoid. SOUNDS!

To learn these, you can do the following:

Read Tacet Core Drop descriptions, observe the shape of Tacet Core, observe TD behavior/shape (do they mimic a human trait/role, do they behave like an animal, do they have mechanical parts, do they resemble other things on the planet).

For clarity, when I use the term Tacet Core from now on, I am referring to the distinct ones you can see on their bodies. When I say Tacet Core Drop, I am referring to the items in your inventory. No drops in-game for the other 3 mimicry types that aren't Whisperin and Howler.

1) Whisperin: Humanoid mimicry.

These Tacet Discords stand on two feet, can mimic warriors, use instruments, etc. Human traits!

Example: You have Crownless, who mimics a Knight but can never grasp the concept of chivalry and Knighthood, rendering it a ghost of endless warfare.

Whisperin Tacet Discords have a Tacet Core that resemble a star.

Here are the descriptions of the low frequency, middle frequency, and high frequency Whisperin Tacet Core Drops. "Broken star", "Frequency Energy aligns with the hearing range of normal people".

In the Act about Qichi Village, you will come across this Tick Tack Whisperin Tacet Discord, who repeats the words of a young child from village because it absorbed their frequencies. And sorry for the ugly picture my xbox gamebar wasn't cooperating and I was impatient...

2) Howler: Animal mimicry. or just Organic? (I'll come back to this later)

Example: The apes and dreadmane hounds.

To me, Howler Tacet Discord have a Tacet Core that resemble a rose. They are rounder compared to other Tacet Cores.

3) Tranquilites: Earth? Inorganic?

Example: The prisms that are immune when you attack them with similar frequencies. Any Tacet Discord whose appearance resembles rocks or other earth material.

Tranquilite Tacet Cores appear rigid and layered on their bodies.

Fission Junrock. Description: "A Common Class Tranquilite TD inhabiting mountaineous areas. Often overlooked due to its lava-like shape."

Vanguard Junrock. Description: The same except "lava-like shape" -> replaced with "rock-like appearance".

I did say you can identify Whisperins if they walk on two feet, but that's not the ONLY factor. Stonewall Bracer is not considered Whisperin despite walking on two feet. Description: "An Elite Tranquilite TD found in mountainous areas. They bear huge sizes and inhabit rocks."

What about ROCKsteady Guardian? Looks like its composed of rocks, but the highlight for it is the role it assumes: a Guardian. It attacks and protects like one. (Same with the Chasm Guardian TD). It has the humanoid description, Whisperin Tacet Core, and behaves like a warrior.

Roseshroom has Tranquilite description, yet visible Howler Tacet Core on body. This is why I wrote Earth? or Inorganic? For most Tranquilite they are inorganic, but not if the plant TD are involved. Howlers could also be the organic umbrella and then it would make sense too.

Here are the descriptions of the middle frequency, and high frequency Howler Tacet Core Drops. "Natural cycle of life".

4) Staticoids: TD attached to man-made objects... or (Act 5 with Court of Savantae).

Examples: Mech abomination, Autopuppet scout which is in a discarded vehicle, Traffic Illuminator, Chaserazor/Carapace (the car TD).

The visible Tacet Core on Autopuppet is square-ish like Tranquilites, but not exactly the same. The similar shape can be because man-made objects are also inorganic (DUH). But to me, the Tranquilite Tacet Cores have more stacked layers.

Last time I checked, Mech abomination had a Clamorling drop but a Staticoid description. So keep that in mind... another inconsistent element, I know. The Tacet Core for Staticoid TD looks rigid and square-ish, but not stacked layers like Tranquilite.

5) STUPID Clamorlings. I have yet to find a TD with this classification besides Mech Abomination, but again, Mech Abomination had a Clamorling drop but Staticoid description. You will learn a bit about this TD in Act 5, at the laboratory where it is located.

Anyways that's all I have to say about Tacet Discords for now. I'll come back to this if anything changes down the line and if we get more Tacet Core Drops for the other 3 mimicry types in the future. Whisperin is honestly the most solid out of the rest, bye bye

on the topic of aalto: he's probably overclocked before, because like the image says, why else would he just up and vanish? my idea of his reasoning for disappearing would be that he does NOT want to be psychologically monitored, because his entire occupation hinges on keeping secrets. and from what i can tell, most of the Resonators with that history do get monitored so that it doesn't happen again.

I've had these same thoughts ever since his reveal in September! He has no risk of Overclocking because of his stability but disappearing when they needed to obtain personal accounts of any history makes him 100% suspicious. It could be like Yuanwu's case, relatively high stability and minimal risk of Overclocking yet experienced a near-Overclocking event.

Explaining Resonators Part 5 - Some gaps

This is my first time using Tumblr, please bare with my posting habits lol. I decided to make one of my Twitter threads into a format suitable for Tumblr, Instagram and Tiktok.

Ever since the old reveals for Encore, Jiyan, and Danjin from April 2023 and Sanhua's reveal from August 2023, I have been trying to come up with any kind of explanation for Tacet Mark placements. Also any connection that can be determined from Resonator waveform graphs and their fluctuations, and pattern of Time Domains. So far I haven't written a solid piece on those concepts, but if anyone wants to work on it together in the future DM me on Twitter @ mortefii!

Explaining Resonators Part 4 - Resonant Criticalities and Overclock History

Basically, the RC and stability relationship:

+RC/-stable= higher risk

-RC/+stable= lower risk

-/-= higher risk

+/+= lower risk

High Resonant criticality levels can be countered with higher stability, so low stability puts the Resonator at risk in this case.

Low Resonant criticality is an issue when one's stability is also low, but it is not an issue when stability is high.

IIC. Overclock History

As of now, only Mortefi, Sanhua, Calcharo and Yangyang have recorded history of overclocking Danjin and Yuanwu have experiences that we can call near-overclocking.

Explaining Resonators Part 3 - Rabelle's Curve and Overclocking

IB. Rabelle's Curve

Used on reports to classify Resonators into: Natural, Mutant, Congenital, or *Artificial.

Previous Artificial Resonators were Encore and Calcharo, but they are now Congenital and Natural.

Natural Resonators have a non-convergent Rabelle Curve with a gradual, stable rise.

Current Natural Resonators: Calcharo, Jianxin, Lingyang, Taoqi, Yangyang, Yuanwu

Mutant Resonators have a non-convergent Rabelle Curve with a steep rise in its middle section.

Current Mutant Resonators: Baizhi, Chixia, Danjin, Jiyan, Mortefi, Sanhua

I cannot say for sure, but after reading their reports it seems that extreme conditions, spike in their emotional state and energy were involved in the awakening for these Resonators (Jiyan being an exception for now). - slothlo

Congenital Resonators have a non-convergent Rabelle Curve with a periodic waveform.

Current Congenital Resonators: Aalto, Encore, Verina, Yinlin

These Resonators were born with their abilities, or awakened during their early childhood. - slothlo

To learn the specific circumstances to a Resonator's awakening you must read their reports and character menu stories. Keep in mind you might come across some that are vague and have unidentifiable triggers, or 'cause of awakening unknown' on their report.

II. OVERCLOCK DIAGNOSTIC REPORT

This portion details a Resonator's *waveform graph, *Time Domain patterns, risk of Overclocking, Resonant Criticality, stability, any past documented history of Overclocking, their behavior and emotional tendencies.

IIA. What is Overclocking?

Resonators that exceed their Resonant Criticalities experience Overclocking. They lose control of their Forte. Emotional, psychological states, and bursts of energy play a huge role in Overclocking. You can see this more clearly with Yangyang's report, attached in the beginning of this post.

Explaining Resonators Part 2 - Resonance Spectrum Patterns

I. RESONANCE EVALUATION REPORTS

This portion details a Resonator's Forte, provides information regarding the circumstances of their Awakenings, Tacet Mark, Resonance Spectrum Patterns, and the Rabelle's Curve used to classify them.

IA. Resonance Spectrum Patterns

Again, Resonators are defined as: Individuals with the ability to resonate with certain objects and manipulate their frequencies.

They end up having Resonance Spectrum Patterns that align with the spectrum patterns of other things in existence, synotizing (being in resonance, in tune with) with these patterns explains their Fortes.

Examples from some Forte Examination Reports:

Aalto's RSP matches the pattern of fog.

Fog -> Mist -> Air -> Aero attribute, ‘the ability to manipulate airflow’.

Yangyang’s RSP matches airflow and bird species.

Airflow and Birds → Air → Aero attribute, ‘the ability to manipulate airflow’.

Mortefi's RSP matches the pattern of the extinct Dragonkin species.

Dragons → Fire -> Fusion attribute, ‘the ability to ignite’.

Danjin's RSP matches human blood, and she uses her own.

Hence 'destroying' or 'harming' herself -> Havoc attribute, ‘the ability to annihilate’.

Sanhua's RSP matches snow and Tacet Discord (you should read her developer notes and stories for more on the blizzard caused by Waveworn Phenomenon!)

Surviving blizzard caused by Waveworn Phenomenon -> frequency erosions -> Glacio attribute, ‘the ability to cool down and freeze’.

THIS WILL BE VERY LONG. This is a rework of my Twitter thread explanations from a few months ago, pages I created for Fandom Wikia (I'm bureaucrat as of April 21 thanks to the inactive owners yippee), and a somewhat recent post I made for the r/wutheringwaves and r/wuwa_lore (please join it and the WuWa lore Discord linked to it!) If this reaches non mutuals: I am a long time Kuro Game fan! PGR since launch and WuWa since it was initially leaked and unannounced in 2022. I am a part of two lore teams for the game and make guides for it in my free time, mostly on Twitter @ mortefii. For those that already know me I'm putting it here too just to store it so smd.

The Lament changed the laws of Solaris-3, and unique frequencies are now attached to various things. The Lament's power causes destructive anomalies, such as the Tacet Fields, Tacet Discord Outbreaks, and the mysterious matter named Tacetite. These are collectively known as the Waveworn Phenomenon. The Waveworn Phenomena is believed to have altered matter, information, and energy by converting them into vibrating frequencies.

Individuals with the ability to resonate with things in existence and manipulate their frequencies are known as Resonators. These individuals exhibit a Resonance Ability through a symbol, known as the Tacet Mark, on their bodies.

They have unique Resonance Spectrum Patterns that determine their abilities and relates to their Attributes.They are classified by their Rabelle's Curve into one of the following: Natural, Mutant, Congenital, or *Artificial.

According to experts on Solaris-3, a Resonator's abilities are often influenced by their past experiences and subconscious mind.

Every Resonator has a Forte Examination Report that evaluates their status as a Resonator. It consists of two parts: a Resonance Evaluation Report, and an Overclock Diagnostic Report. 

They WERE available on Kuro's website as Profile Reveals and Inspection Reports used to promote/introduce a character, but they can all be viewed in-game after obtaining the character if you did not archive them.
