In happier news, Wishie Woo graduated from his first obedience class!!! We’re signed up to go through again and solidify what we’ve worked on since he’s only 7 months old, but so far he’s doing excellently! So proud of my boy <3

I miss my girl so much... She’ll be back at the end of August, but this is the longest we will have ever been away from each other 

It's barely been a week since I last saw her and I already can’t wait until she gets to come back :( <3

Meanwhile, since Kizzie won’t be able to come home with us again until after Ripley is weaned, Chappie gets to come with us to be Woo’s buddy (as well as work on confidence building for her)! 

Chappie is Kizzie’s half-sister, they share the same mom. She is just as sweet and gentle as Kizzie, but she’s a bit more stern with Wish, which is exactly what he needs right now as he’s growing up. :) He does fine as an only dog, but having a buddy is always good! 

She’s in love with our couch already and finally seems to have figured out that we aren’t kidnapping her, haha.

Sadly, the first litter I don’t get to be around to raise is my own dog’s puppy. 

But she’s in the best possible hands with my aunt, and I get daily updates <3 

Kizzie and her daughter Ripley, when she was just a day old. She grows like a weed because she has no competition for the 6+ puppies worth of milk Kizzie is producing.... she is very serious about taking care of Ripley <3 

She will be interesting. Singletons don’t have the opportunity to learn the first basic social lessons from their littermates (frustration control, physical stimulation, bite inhibition, etc). She will grow up very attached to humans and we will have to work hard with her in terms of socialization and bite inhibition. But she’s worth it, of course, and we will do everything we can to raise her into the most well-adjusted adult that we can!

So our big announcement... Kizzie is a mama!!! To one HUGE, incredible pup.

Introducing Ripley! Registered name Samhain’s Believe it or Not... born June 25th!

Kizzie only conceived one pup (and a MASSIVE one at that...) and after 12 hours of pre-labor with not a single contraction, we checked her color and she was pasty white. Cue a trip to the emergency animal hospital for an emergency c-section and the longest few hours of my entire life. 

Kizzie pulled through it like a champ, and is still doing wonderfully!! As is baby Ripley, all 30+ ounces of her at only 1 week old (she was 1.2 POUNDS at birth!)

Now, to most, Ripley simply looks like a black and white, massive singleton puppy... but she’s so much more. She’s a genetic anomaly.

See, Ripley’s sire is a homozygous merle. He is ONLY supposed to be able to produce blue merle offspring, and he has 30+ attesting to that.

Ripley is the only one he has produced in 11 years that isn’t blue. she is, statistically, supposed to be impossible. We’re excited to have DNA tests done to see if she is genetically a merle (making her a cryptic merle) or just a miraculous chance.  

Regardless, what matters is that Kizzie and her baby are both doing wonderfully! <3

My two loves <3 Wish has been doing some growing!! He is 7 months old now <3 (he is 6 months old in this photo, though) and Kizzie... well, we have some exciting news regarding Snoot, which will follow shortly!! She is currently back home and I miss her! She will be back in a couple months <3

Hello friends, it’s been a while!!! 

Sorry that I’ve been off the radar for so long. Life has been... exciting, to say the least! 

We made our move and are now happily settled into our new apartment! Wish has been growing like a weed and is now even bigger than Kizzie!

And where is Kizzie during most of this romping, you ask? 

Sitting on my feet because above all else, Kizzie’s main focus is me. I literally have to direct her to go play with everyone because she’d rather just watch and sit with us. Which I didn’t, because at the time she was limping a bit. 

I used to work for our local clinic as a kennel assistant (since I’m moving within days, I no longer do, I miss it!) and so bringing her in as a patient still feels super weird. Usually Kizzie would hang out in her own kennel in the back while I worked. I think we both feel out of place.

anyways, she’s just fine! The doctor thinks she tweaked her left carpus, and now Kizzie is sentenced to a week of rest. Oh, the horror of getting to hang out on my bed all day, these truly are the end times :P
