It was a stroke of absolute brilliance to have the tape play with a view of Ellie's imagination as she experienced the launch. Joel didn't just give her a tape, he gave her the chance to be a kid again, something taken from her way too early.

Is it just me, or is the scene where Jesse tells Ellie to "get her girlfriend to the stables" after he freshly finds out she and Dina kissed the other night so cheekily but still uprightly comical?
It's the way Ellie needs to process Jesse's jab before she realizes he's teasing her about the kiss she shared with her best friend that she accidentally brought up into the open in front of him earlier, only to have nothing to say but roll her eyes and mumble, "Oh my god." under her breath at how embarrassing she can't believe her life is right now.
The way she can't believe this is happening right now. Not only Dina kissed her and Ellie doesn't know what to think of it yet, she also lets it slip in front of Dina's ex-boyfriend who happens to be her friend too. I love that girl so much. She's such a lovable, silly oddball.
Can you believe that this little girl is gonna be spending the bigger part of her life without joel she's probably gonna end up forgetting what he looks like and he's the closest she's ever had to having a father figure and that only lasted just for five years of her life with two years out of that being messy bc of their little fight
At the age of 14, Ellie, a vulerable little girl who had no meaning in life, suddenly has the weight of the world on her shoulders, which causes her to have massive survival guilt and, by so doing, reduces her life to being meaningless if not dying for the cure.
I always felt the dream Ellie had about being left to control an airplane full of people that's about to crash, but not knowing how and failing was analogous to her situation.
i need to replay the last of us part 2 and cry my whole way through it, how joel was never given a choice and he's just reacting to what the world forced him to survive, how abby was never given a choice and she's just reacting to what the world forced her to survive, how ellie was never given a choice and she's just reacting to what the world forced her to survive
Omg I just realized that Joel h a s heard Ellie sing… technically!! The idle humming she does sometimes in gameplay! It’s not much but I’m takin what I can get!
It's literally the sweetest thing to notice. I love the idea of it. I just wish to know so badly if he ever heard her sing real words, because she, in fact, can sing - same as him - and he'd be so fucking proud. I can picture his face and it's killing me. Like, is there anything that girl can't do??
I really wanna talk about this sort of parallel between the two scenes.
Now you might ask but how is this a parallel ?? well I am not very sure myself if it is one but in both scenes, both of them get a glimpse into what the other person's life is like or maybe into what their life could've been.
In the scene with Sarah we see her looking up at the military jets flying by. They are loud, aggressive and people often think of danger when they see military stuff. And they disturb the peaceful moment that Sarah was having before.
Which is what Ellies life is like. Her life is aggressive in a way and there is always some sort of danger almost always lurking somewhere near her, even tho she has peaceful moments they often get disturbed or ruined.
But we also got to see what Sarahs life could've been if she survived, no wait I correct myself, we did get to see what her life could've been because she was still alive to experience her peaceful life as she knew get disturbed by this aggressive and dangerous outbreak.
Now in the scene with Ellie we see her looking up at the skyscrapers, destroyed and decaying skyscrapers, but still skyscrapers nonetheless. These skyscrapers are big, something she has never seen before and peaceful somehow? because people often think of Nature taking over things, sort of reclaiming it, is peaceful.
Which is what Sarahs life was sort of like she had a big things ahead of her, probably a lot of stuff she has never seen before to see and her life was peaceful.
Again but we also got to see what Ellies life could've been if she was born just a few years before, again I correct myself, we will get to see it in some sort of way. Because in that moment that Joel but Ellie in that car her life became bigger, in that moment where Joel decided to take her with him she had places to see she hasn't seen before and Joel is one of the reasons she might live a peaceful life in Jackson.
i need more people to understand that joel and tess meeting early after the outbreak means they both would've been so broken when they met and would have helped each other put some of the pieces back together again.
TLOU SEASON 2 STARTS SHOOTING IN TWO MONTHS????? I'm so excited to see who plays the characters that are introduced in part 2 kinda hoping that they'll push joels death to another season and give season 2 some extra stuff like what they did with bill and franks story
