False Killer Whales with some calves in tow! This sighting came from April 2016; we also sighted them one month prior (to the date) to this, as well as past years in the months of March and April.
False Killer Whales are pretty unusual for Southern California, but this particular group historically seems to enjoy visiting us in the spring time.
Footage filmed by Naturalist Craig DeWitt (x)

Meet Jett. She’s one of the girls we regularly encounter off Bremer. Underwater footage really highlights their personalities. The white patch above her eye helps us distinguish her from other killer whales, its like a human finger print.

One of the most beautiful photos of Sri Lankan orcas I’ve ever seen!
This photo was captured by Josh Barton on April 15th off Mirissa when this curious female approached his boat and gazed up at him. OPSL is still working on IDs for this female and her pod.
