Something I have really loved this season with Sylvie is the appreciation of the ordinary. Living a normal life was her dream, and she soaks up every moment, like each are a precious gem. She has a job in a fast food place, and she loves it and takes pride in it. She’s got a coworker that she can chat with, a bartender who knows her name, a record seller who calls her a regular and recommends her music. And to her, all these little things, the fast food and drink and music and the people you connect with as you go about your day, they’re all special. Through the lens of this character, we can take those things that to us might seem mundane, that we might take for granted, and elevate them, and go “this, this is special actually”

there is a certain kind of character that will do terminal brain damage to any 14 year old of a sufficiently angsty disposition who encounters them

“I want my friends back… I don’t want to be alone”

“But without them, where do I belong ?”

Okay but this is driving me crazy. I’ve never been in a romantic relationship, and I’ve grown up seeing my friends starting to see someone and prioritizing that relationship instead of the one they have with me. I’ve grown up seeing people making jokes about “tHe pOwEr Of fRiEnDsHiP” and minimizing how important and strong those bonds can be, I’ve grown up knowing that “just friends” is not enough.

But friendships saved my life in so many ways. By making me want to stay alive until things get better, by giving me a support network while I figured out who I was, by making me try new foods and new songs and new movies… I am forever changed by the friendships I have and have had, and the amount of love I have for my friends sometimes feels like something I could not put into words. So seeing Loki, my comfort character of many years, change and gain in power BECAUSE OF FRIENDSHIP, hearing him echo the thoughts I’ve often had when seeing the people I would give everything for drift away, seeing friendship not only being his strength but his motivator ? It’s just…it’s making me feel so much
