Who is Derrick Rose

People often said that rose will never bloom twice. Well, Derrick Rose may not be a rose but he is someone that shows the whole world that a rose can bloom twice. We started talking about the value of sports and how it will affect our life. A great example to emphasize that would be Derrick Rose.

Derrick Martell Rose is an American professional basketball player for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association. He played one year of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers before being drafted first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft. He was a former NBA MVP, in fact, he is the youngest to ever win it and just as everybody in the whole world is expecting him to keep rising, he fell with an ACL injury. Tearing an ACL is the worst thing that could ever happen to an athlete, not only you are not able to walk for at least a year but you will never get back to the same level you were playing before.

The sad news is Derrick Rose torn his ACL several times and people started to look down on him just because he could never play like the way he did before. Even though Derrick Rose keeps falling down but he never stayed down, he always gets back up and gives it his all. He never expected him to be the same player he was before but he knew that giving up now will be the biggest regret in his life.

And of course, throughout this tough journey, there are always people around him supporting him. For example, his wife, children, trainer, and etc. That is why he is the perfect example to explain the value of sports. Because with the value of sports look where he is now. He is back playing the sport he loves with people around him that will support him through thick and thin. Most importantly, he is a happy man with everything is going on in his life.

Value of Sports

Imagine what values can sports bring you? Is it just about being healthy, winning matches, etc. 

Technically it is true, but at the same time, sports have way much more value than that and people often overlook it. People overlook that sport teaches us how to recognize the difference between winning and striving for excellence, it is an easy task to differentiate in words but it is so much harder to do it in action. Most importantly, sports teaches us how to handle failures, knowing that falling down should be the motivation for you to get back up and keep trying. That is the most valuable value that sports can bring you. 

There is so much more for “Value of Sports” but let's start with the value “Team Work”. This may be obvious, but teamwork is one of the most basic skills sports can teach participants. Teamwork helps motivate participants to do their part by assisting the team to reach its ultimate goal. By that people have to be unselfish and willing to sacrifice. However, teamwork also requires a true leader who will assign the task to those who are best suitable for it and knowing who to assign and when to assign. With all that being said learning the value of teamwork that sports can bring us is a huge benefit, because not only we have become a better person but most importantly we have put ourselves into an environment with people like us and that is the best thing we could ask for.
