Supernatural honestly isn’t that great of a show. I’ve seen all nine seasons, every episode so far, and I started out like a lot of people. A rabid fan. Unfortunately I think that was more forced on my part so I could feel like I was a part of something.

But there are tons of problems. The brothers have a fight every single freaking season. Or half season. Or episode. Seriously, they fight a ton. The writers honestly can’t write about them doing anything else. You guys act like the season 9 fight is different. “they’re finally breaking codependent tendencies awww great job writers!!” Except… no. Do you honestly think they’re going to go into season 10 like this? No. They’re going to make up somewhere along the line and prepare for a fresh, new sibling hatred next season. Because you know. That has never been done before.

Next is bad story lines. Now don’t get me wrong, the first five seasons were amazing.This was when I was in my “this is the best show ever” phase. Because each season had a concrete plot and the plot progressed naturally. But seasons 6, 7, 8, and definitely 9 have done nothing of the sort. Season 9 has been so boring plot-wise I’ve considered dropping the show.

There is a common trend with these though: “oh no Castiel is the bad guy gosh golly Cas how could you betray us.” Really. Every season. Season 6 was the whole absorb all the souls thing. Season 7 Cas was gone most of the time but they still were mad. Season 8, Naomi used him again them. And he kicked all the angels out. Way-to-go. And it’s coming in season 9 if it hasn’t happened already. (this season’s been boring, I haven’t really kept up with anything) This plot device is so overused just. Ugh.

And please, please for the love of all that’s holy, stop the angel wars. This is the third one. First one was interesting. Second two weren’t. Just stop.  And can we talk about unnecessary character deaths for plot purposes? Because I fucking will. Meg, Kevin, Bobby, Benny, Samandriel. Jo, and Ellen all didn’t need to die. And I bet I forgot some people too. Character death is fun, when it’s done properly and not thrown at your face out of nowhere *cough* Kevin *cough*. 

Also stop acting like destiel is in the show. Ship it all you want, but it’s not there. The writers have obviously stopped writing them intimately for a reason. Read into it. They’re sending you message: it will never happen. I never saw destiel in the show until I went on tumblr. True story. I just thought they were good friends. Which, you know. Is what the show has tried to write them as. Speaking of Cas, his character is trashed. He’s awkward, and not the good awkward we saw in seasons 4/5. I almost cringe whenever he’s on screen. He’s just an entirely different character. And you can preach ‘character development’ at me all you want, but I’m not buying it. 

Back to plot devices. I’m sick of Dean being on the frontlines and being the one to save the day while they throw Sam in the backseat. When is the last time Sam was the center of attention? Season 4? And it wasn’t even a good arc for him either. It made me kinda hate him for a while. But really, they keep giving him problems and hoping that will keep us entertained. Demon blood, psychic powers, souless Sam, three trials, and now being “sick”. Sam is a great character. At least he used to be. I just wish the writers would see that and give Dean a rest. Seriously, I’m kinda getting tired of Dean. Dean is a broken record, and was far more interesting pre-hell. 

And enemies. The antagonists right now are awful. We don’t even have a main- oh wait, Metatron, that’s right. Why did I forget? Because Sam and Dean never talk about him. He’s never made an issue. Crowley is laughable, and Abbaddon… What is Abbaddon doing? Eh, obviously not important. Oh, and what ever happened to that Gadreel guy? I feel like he died. Did he? Either way, he wasn’t interesting or intimidating either.

I just want it to end. People worship the show and pretend it’s amazing, which it was. At first. They should have ended it at season 5. It had a lovely ending and the feeling of closure. Now we have to suffer through another season. Maybe they’ll redeem themselves, I dunno. These are just my thoughts right now, and I’m really confused as to why this show is worshiped on Tumblr.
