im fascinated with how spn point blank says dean is a womanizer from the beginning but he has sex two times a season tops. we are told he is a womanizer then the first time he has sex on screen it’s with a woman he had his only long term relationship with. sam makes a snide comment about dean being a womanizer and the ep ends with the woman dean was trying to ize chastely giving him a kiss on the cheek. nothing else transpired between the two of them. dean winchester competing for an award in best performance of a man
i just think like ok. dean's frankly absurd performance of masculinity just makes it so the writers end up pairing him with every character that comes on screen bc it's simply more engaging that way. like it's way better television to have dean fangirling over his wrestling celebrity crush than have sam do the same. bc with dean you have the image dean has established for himself of the macho hypermasculine etc etc. and that image shattered as he freaks out over like. doctor sexy. or his own self-image deeply confused when he is met with garth who loves to hug.. like thats just better television than sam being a fan of someone bc that would just be like. yeah the guys a fan. but with dean it's revealing something deeper about him bc its his real personality bleeding thru the mask he wears. and it happens literally every time a new character comes on screen. sam (while a fucking freak in his own right) is better i think at coming across as like. a normal human being socially. u know. whereas dean just. fags out sometimes to a degree that is comical and thats just. more engaging for the audience to watch. so you get dean paired with charlie bc sam helping her flirt with men would be funny, but dean helping her flirt with men is even funnier (bc his self-image is wounded by it. it is embarrassing to him). you get garth paired with dean bc sam getting a hug from garth might be funny idk bc of like. size?? idk. but dean getting a hug is like wow. he is scared of the touch of a man for what reason. and so episode by episode this happens until u get a show where one brother has a ton of friends he considers family and the other brother (who is allegedly supposedly much more socially.. conscious? we will say?) is like. a freak loner loser with no friends. epic little brother energy where his "friends" are just his older brothers friends. so it's the bad lazy writing (like.. just make a character who would connect with sam. and they did with eileen!! but how long did that take lmaoooo. and then they. whatever.) but also combine the bad writing with just. jared padalecki being a bad actor who lacks chemistry with almost everyone. sorry. um. anyway,,,,
he’s a cosmic wavelength of light and he’s checking his reflection in the mirror to make sure his cheap cowboy hat doesn’t make him look too silly in front of his best friend who’s also his crush. i have to get out of here don’t follow me you wouldnt get it🚶♂️🏠
dean drawing with lucas the nonverbal kid and then, when he tries to talk about his trauma, being unable to speak and going completely silent for a moment. i see. i see. i wish i could not see.
they literally said. here’s a dean who wasn’t raised by an abusive father in a community that perpetuates othering and toxic masculinity. he’s pretty obviously gay, by the way
dog dean afternoon but cas is in it and dean can’t stop following him around. gets all mopey and whiny when cas is gone. whimpers when cas doesn’t give him attention. follows him into the bathroom and cries when cas shuts him out.
