Share repurchases have grown significantly over the past decade or two. In fact, a recent radio commentator suggested that the current rise in share prices (both the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones averages are trading at historic highs as of this writing) is due not to superior company performance, but to the increased volume of money flowing into the stock market from corporate share repurchases.
Does this sound like a valid explanation for an increase in share prices? Why or why not?

  Embry RSCH202 Module 1 Discussion
Module 1 – Discussion: What does research mean to you?
100 100 unread replies. 100 100 replies.
Discussion Topic: What is your definition of research? You may have “researched” a topic of personal interest in the recent past. Perhaps it was related to which degree to pursue, which branch of the military to join, which career to pursue, which car to purchase, which neighborhood to purchase a home in, or other decisions you needed to make. When you personally research a topic, it is something inherently interesting to you and you research it to learn about it so that you can make an informed decision. In this discussion board, introduce yourself by briefly telling your classmates your definition of research and about something you recently researched. Describe the techniques and tools you used to research your topic.
Posting Instructions: You should make your initial discussion board posting no later than the fourth day of the week. Later in the week, return to the discussion, read the postings of your classmates, and comment on at least two of those. Remember to follow similar practice for other discussions throughout the course. Please read these instructions for information (Links to an external site.) on accessing the discussion rubric.

Discussion Topic:
List and label the variables as independent, dependent, intervening, or moderating
Explain the relationships among the variables
Develop a problem statement for the situation

Module 3 – Discussion: Data Collection – Questionnaire
83 83 unread replies. 83 83 replies.
An undergraduate student named Nicki created a Questionnaire Preview the documentView in a new windowto gain insight into people’s attitudes toward online shopping. To determine the attributes relevant to his study, Nicki first conducted face-to-face interviews. Then based on a rigorous analysis of those interviews, he developed the questionnaire. Read through Nicki’s proposed questionnaire and answer the following questions.
Discussion Topic:
Nicki’s questionnaire starts with questions seeking personal information from the respondents. Some researchers ask for personal data at the end rather than the beginning of the questionnaire. Which do you prefer and why?
Nicki uses a lot of closed questions that ask respondents to make choices among a set of alternatives given by the researcher. In closed questions, care must be taken to ensure that the alternatives are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive. Are there any of Nicki’s questions that are not mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive? If so, which ones? Tell how you might revise those questions to make them mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive.
Poor phrasing of questions can cause respondents to refuse to answer them or to answer incorrectly (either on purpose or because of misunderstanding). Do you think any of Nicki’s questions are poorly worded and should be reworded? If so, which ones and how would you reword the items?
Posting Instructions: You should make your initial discussion board posting no later than the fourth day of the week. Later in the week, return to the discussion, read the postings of your classmates, and comment on at least two of those.   1.5 – Discussion: Stock Reports
1 1 unread reply. 21 21 replies.
There are many databases available through the library and unless you use them you will not become familiar with what is available. Often you will find access to information you did not know was available while you are looking for information.
M1.jpg
Within the databases available is one that provides stock reports for individual firms. View the example stock report Preview the documentView in a new window(the firm used as the example cannot be used as your firm). Select a firm in the aviation/ aerospace industry and post the stock report on the discussion board. Provide a three to four sentence summary of the recommendation made on the stock (i.e. Buy/Sell/Hold and the major reasons why). After your short summary (in the same post), post the current stock price and the 12 month target stock price. This is a first come first served discussion meaning if someone posts about their selected firm first they get to post it and you will need to select a new firm.
Review the Discussion Board Rubric before submitting your response. Please read these instructions for information on accessing the discussion rubric. (Links to an external site.)
Class discussions are an integral part of your learning in this course. You are both encouraged and expected to participate in online discussions.  23 Discussion: Gross Income
4343 unread replies6464 replies
Various Federal stimulus provisions were designed to assist state and local governments in borrowing funds, leveraging the gross income exclusion for such bond interest so that such jurisdictions would have increased access to funds One of the justifications for these provisions was that state and local governments cannot run budget deficits and cannot “print money,” so the recent recession put them in a difficult cash-flow position
Audits of the use of these borrowed funds showed that some of the bond proceeds were used by the jurisdictions to participate in “public-private partnerships,” where government funds were used to assist private entities in expanding in or relocating to the jurisdiction Specifically, bond proceeds were found to have been used to provide targeted road-building and utility construction projects to benefit large commercial entities

The price of gasoline goes up and down quickly, yet consumer demand for gasoline stays relatively steady. Does this mean the demand for gasoline is inelastic, or is something else at work? Explain.
 DQ 2
Of the factors listed in the textbook that are related to demand, identify 1 or 2 that were instrumental in your selection of a University in which to enroll for an MBA. Do you think your decision criteria are typical or atypical? Explain.
 GC ECN601 WEEK 2 DQ 1& DQ 2 LATEST
 DQ 1
Selecting a complete set of independent variables is always an issue when using regression analysis to estimate demand. For example, analysts often use price and advertising to estimate quantity demanded. However, how do they know that these two variables were sufficient? How do we know that we didn’t omit other variables which would have had a significant impact on demand? How do we know that we didn’t include variables that were not needed? Explain how analysts would answer such questions.
 DQ 2
Suppose you want to use regression analysis to estimate the selling price of single family homes in a given neighborhood. You assemble data on selling price, square footage, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, age of the house, and lot size. Which variable(s) are dependent? Which are independent? For each independent variable you listed, indicate whether you would expect the sign of that variable to be positive or negative, and why.
