Aj x reader
A/N: Reader uses a binder, gender isnât mentioned, also semi-based on personal experience lol
This art fair was going to be the death of you. You knew you need to take your binder off. Youâd been wearing it for 12 hours (four more than the recommended). You felt that familiar ache in you back and shoulder but decided to push through, you still had two more hours before youâd be home and you didnât bring your sports bra to change into so you were screwed. ây/n? You ok baby? You look, I donât know tense?â Aj asks â âm fineâ you say trying not to think about it âY/n donât lie to me, we agreed no lyingâ Aj said in a tone that you knew you couldnât lie to. You mumbled something âwhat?â Aj said visibly confused âIâve been wearing my binder for like over 12 hoursâŠâ you said looking down at your feet embarrassed âY/N, you canât do that thatâs really dangerous and youâve been carrying heavy stuff- what were you thinking?â Aj said getting upset with you âoh my gosh, calm downâ you said with a sigh âCALM DOWN?! YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN?! YOURE BEING STUPID AND HURTING YOUR-â she cut herself off and took a deep breath âI know we still technically have two hours left but there is no way in hell Iâm letting keep working in your condition, we need to go homeâ she says gently grabbing your arm causing you to snatch your arm away âMY condition?! Iâm fine, you do NOT need to yell at me and boss me around like Iâm some stupid little kid Ajâ you almost never call her by her name but you were embarrassed and angry that she yelled at you in front of people. Aj realized she messed up, maybe she went too far âY/nâŠâ she said in an apologetic tone âNo Aj leave me alone, I need to go help pack up boothsâ you stormed off really upset and didnât want to talk to her right now. You start helping pack up a few booths when the pain in your ribs increased, 13 and a half hours of binding? what were you thinking, your body was definitely not happy. The pain was just getting worse and you just wanted your girlfriend but you remembered how you reacted about earlier so you didnât know if she would even want to see you right now. Your train of thought was interrupted by
*buzz* *buzz* a text from Aj
My loveđčđ: hey baby Iâm sorry about earlier but Iâll be at the car waiting for you whenever youâre ready I love you
(Y/N): hi bubs Iâm also really sorry about earlier but Iâll be out in a minute I just gotta put one more tent away I love you too see you in a bit
My loveđč đ: alright baby see you soon
You finished helping and held your side in pain as you walked to your girlfriendâs car. When you got to the car Aj noticed you grabbing your side âok Iâm sorry for earlier but we really need to get that off of youâ Aj said with a frown âcan we just go home? I promise Iâll take it off as soon as we get thereâ you said buckling up with a small groan of pain âyeah ok baby my house or yours?â Aj asks starting the car âyours, if my mom sees me like this sheâll kill me and take my binder away for âbeing too recklessâ I donât want to hear that right nowâ you said gently rubbing your ribs. The two of you made it to Ajâs and went to her room, her parents werenât home âcan we please get this off of you nowâ Aj says gently reaching under your shirt and you nod. She takes off your shirt then helps you out of your binder âlay down baby Iâm gonna grab us some clothes then weâre gonna showerâ she says kissing you on the forehead then going to her closet to grab a hoodie for you and some boxers from your bucket of stuff you leave over then grabs her self some clothes âok baby come on letâs get in the showerâ she says giving you a quick kiss then helping you stand up. You two get in the shower, it feels really nice on your achy skin and itâs warm. You lean your head on Aj while she gently rubs soap all over your back and sides, her delicate touch making you melt into her making you felling a little sleepy. âYou ok baby? Getting sleepy?â She asks, you just respond with a nod and help rub soap on her back then kissing her. You two finish your shower and she helps you get dressed âcome on baby, arms upâ she says trying to help you with your hoodie âit hurts bubsâ you say trying to lift your arms âI know baby, I know but you gotta put something on or youâre gonna be coldâ she pulls the hoodie over your head and gently helps your arms into the holes âok lay down baby, Iâm gonna get us some water and snacks, go ahead and just relaxâ Aj says then she gives you a kiss before heading to her door âI love you bubs, thank you for taking care of meâ you say with a half smile âI love you too babyâ she says heading down stairs, you snuggle into Ajâs bed trying not to move too much because moving hurts. As you start slowly dozing off Aj walks into the room âaw my poor sleepy baby, can you drink a little bit of water before you go to sleep?â You nod and sit up as she hands you a cold water bottle. Aj gently scratches your scalp, messing with your hair as you drift off to sleep.
_______
You slept for like an hour or two. Waking up with you tangled up in Ajâs arms, her head on the top of yours. âGood morning sleepyheadâ Aj said kissing the top of your head âhi bubs, can you pass me water?â you said groggy, trying to sit up as she passes you a water bottle âhere you go babyâ she says as she lays back down next to you. You drink some water then carefully set it on her nightstand, reaching over causes some pain and Aj notices it immediately. âBaby come hereâ you slowly make your way over to her and she starts rubbing small gentle circles into your sore sides âhow does that feelâ she says pressing a kiss to your forehead while you lay with your back against her front âgoodâ you say closing your eyes relaxing into her touch. âI love you babyâ she says âI love you too bubs, I love you so muchâ you say looking up at her âyou gotta take care of yourself baby, I donât like seeing you hurtâ she says lifting your hoodie a little more to reach a little higher on your ribs, you lean into her touch but lift your head to try and give her a kiss, she smiles at you then leans down to connect your lips. Itâs a soft gentle kiss, you both smile in the kiss then pull away, she looks at you and says âyouâre so adorableâŠIâm really sorry for yelling at you earlier I know how you feel about yelling, I just really care about you and you had me really worriedâ she said with a frown âIâm sorry too bubs, I overreacted and was really dumb and didnât listen to my body, I didnât mean to worry you and Iâll try to do better next timeâ you say messing with your hoodie string because you donât want to make eye contact âI appreciate you apologizingâŠwanna watch a movie now?â She says with a smile âooo yes pleaseâ you say rolling over to lay on her with your chest against hers. She puts on a random Disney movie you both like and you both slowly doze off playing with each otherâs hair.

Janis âImiâike x fem! reader
Warnings: child loss, coarse language, depression, anxiety
Continuation to âDistressâ.
Leaving Janis' hospital room, you were met with Regina again. And Damian. "I have to go meet up with another doctor to settle everything else. You guys don't have to wait for me."
"Wait? We're coming with you." Damian says.
"You don't have to say anything, just know we're here if you need anything." You made your way to a certain doctor's office that Janis' doctor told you to head to. There, your first decision to make was whether or not to wait till Janis had woken so she could see the baby and say goodbye. "Her doctor says she's just out of it from anaesthesia right now. She'll be awake before you know it. We don't have to rush the process, y/n. There's no fixed timeline on all this.â
"Sarah, is there anything I can do right now? I have to fill in a certificate, right?"
"Yes, I will go get that." She nodded solemnly.
When she came back, she hands you a piece of paper and a pen. "The team is preparing a memory box for your daughter in the meantime. It will be given to you and Janis once it's ready."
"Okay." You sniffed, clicking the pen.
âTake your time. Iâll be right here if you have any questions.â Sarah says. Nodding, you looked at the first blank. Name.
You and Janis talked about this all night long one night. It was decided. Her first name was, but her middle name was still all up in the air.
âMALIAâ You wrote. Swallowing your tears, you tried to recall yours and Janisâ options for her middle name.
You stared at the barely-filled certificate for a while before you finally made a decision: HĆkĆ«lani.
Beloved, heavenly star. It seemed like a perfect to you and you knew Janis would agree. You knew how important it was to her for names to be meaningful and carrying on her culture.
You filled in all the information you knew and gave it back to Sarah. âThanks.â She smiled, keeping the sheet on paper into a file. âWhen Janis wakes up, her team will walk you two through what to expect during recovery from the c-section. A different team, specialising in grief will also be connecting with the two of you to help you both during this time in any way you may need.â
âAlright, thank you.â
âNo problem. y/n, if you wish to see your daughter first, you may head up to level 13- room C708.â
Once again, Damian and Regina were waiting for you in the waiting room. You were having a debate with yourself about whether or not to see Malia before Janis did. âPaperworkâs done.â You told them quietly.
âNow you need to eat. Janis would kill us if she found out you hadnât eaten anything nearly all day.â
âFine.â You took some deep breaths to calm yourself down, âCan you guys come with me afterwards, to go upstairs so I can see Malia?â
âOh, you picked out a name already? I love it.â Damian put an arm around your shoulder, âOf course we will go with you.â
âCadyâs taking us outside of the hospital for something to eat. The food here is atrocious.â Regina checked her phone, âWe will be back right after we eat. You need some fresh air.â
While you nibbled on your burger, Regina took a picture of you. âWhat are you doing?â You looked at her tiredly.
âGiving our friends proof that youâre fed.â Regina stated matter-of-factly.
âHer nameâs Malia, you said?â Regina asks. Damian glares at her. âItâs fine, Damian.â You told him. âWhat does it mean?â
âBeloved.â You answered, âJanis has loved this name from the moment she heard it. Her middle name was between Jayne and HĆkĆ«lani. I went with HĆkĆ«lani because it was more meaningful and directly connected to Janisâ culture.â
âHeavenly star.â Regina reads off her phone, âFuck, that is a beautiful name.â
âSo beautiful.â Damian agrees.
âIt almost feels too on the nose.â You sighed.
âAnd thatâs okay.â Damian says, âYou like it, you use it. Itâs not up to anybody else but you and your wife.â
After dinner, and also a much, much needed break from the chaotic environment of the hospital, Cady drove you, Regina and Damian back. Janis was still drifting in and out, according to the nurse on nightshift. ây/n?â The nurse says, âI heard her say your name a few times but she never really opened her eyes. But given the time since the procedure, she will be fully awake soon. Her doctor ordered an anti-emetic to counter the side effect of the anaesthetic, but vomiting is still possible. So donât worry if it does happen.â
ââââ
Damian stepped inside the hospital room with you. At first, Regina wasnât allowed to go in together but Janisâ doctor made an exception. âIâm back, my love.â You grab her hand again, informing her of your presence. You knew she could hear you, she was just groggy.
She squeezes your hand, her eyes slowly fluttered open. âOh, God. Hi, baby.â You leaned closer, âHi.â
Janis not laid down flat was definitely helpful because she almost immediately threw up. Her arm instinctively splinted her abdomen. Damian took care of the emesis bucket, Janis looked at you, then at Regina. âI know what happened. I was awake for most of it.â She admitted, âOur babyâs gone.â You caressed her cheek, trying not to cry while she was also tearing up. You carefully manoeuvred yourself so you could hug her without hurting her, âItâs okay.â
She nodded, but was sobbing into your shoulder. You rubbed her back in the meantime, letting her do what she needed to do. âIt hurts. Everything hurts but I chose this- weâll be fine. I promise.â
You pressed a kiss to her forehead, âOf course, my love. Weâll be okay, just let me take care of you right now, okay? Donât worry about anything right now.â
âYou named her?â
âI did.â You informed her, âMalia HĆkĆ«lani âImiâike.â
She nodded, still in tears, âThank you.â
âWhy-â
âEverything. For staying strong and dealing with everything.â She swallowed thickly.
âWe made a promise.â You squeezed her hand, âAnd Iâm going to keep it till I die.â
She smiled slightly, âMe too.â
Damian, Regina and Cady left after a short while, leaving you alone with Janis. âGo to sleep.â She tells you. âI know you- you have been up all day. Itâs 3am.â
âI know, I justââ You sigh. âI got to see her for a minute. Sheâs perfectâ looks exactly like you.â
âGet some rest.â Janis nodded, âPlease. Youâve been up for too long.â
âI will in a minute.â You couldnât help it- a few tears fell anyway, no matter how hard you tried to hold them back.
âGood. I- need to pee. Can youââ
They already had her get up to walk earlier and she was in agony, saying that it felt like her insides were falling all the way down. You just carried her to the bathroom to give her a break. âThank you.â She looked at you while she did her business, âOh, jesus.â In her groggy state, she got a bigger than expected shock from the blood and fluids that were on the literal diaper they put on her.
âYouâre okay, that- they told me some of it was normal.â
Both of you knew what happened, there was no denying it. But it was clear that Janis knew exactly what she was expecting in this situation. She was mentally prepared, having had that specific conversation with you on who to save. But of course, still sad. It was loss of her flesh and blood. A life that sheâs carried and nurtured for 39 weeks- nearly ten months.
âDo you still feel nauseous, Jan?â You asked when you helped her back to her bed. As if on cue, the same nurse came in to check her vitals and surgery site. âHowâs the nausea?â
âBad, but not horrible.â Janis answered flatly, âThe incision feels worse than the nausea.â
âIâll administer another dose of the pain meds for you right after this. And the antiemetic.â The nurseâ Carla, said. âAny pain anywhere else that I should know about? Chest? Legs?â
âNo, I feel fine otherwise.â Janis told her, âHey, is- is it okay if I see my daughter before I go back to sleep?â
âAbsolutely.â Carla smiled, âI can ask them to bring her down for you.â
Janis dozed off briefly during the wait, but woke up once the nurse walked back in about ten minutes later. Carla stayed to assist if needed, handing Malia over to Janis cautiously. âHi, Malia.â Janis stroked her cheek with her pinkie, âYouâre so perfect and precious, baby. Iâm sorry you canât get to see the world right now. Iâm sorry our time together was so short. I love you, so does your Mommy.â
Malia was not tiny, she was a fully grown newborn. Just asleep forever. Watching Janis hold Malia, the way she looked at her so adoringly melted your heart as much as it felt like someone was stabbing and twisting a knife into it. âRest well, sweetheart.â
You held her for a bit after Janis hands her over to you. âOh, I love you so much, cutie. Mommy loves you so much.â You sniffed, swallowing the painful lump in your throat. Slowly, you gave her back to Carla, allowing Janis to finally get her rest. You too, finally at ease for the first time in hours and hours. Right beside Janisâ they let you sleep in her bed with her.
Janis slept soundly thanks to the anaesthesia, you on the other hand, were woken up every time the nurse came in to check her vitals. âIâm sorry, I know youâre tiredâ I didnât mean to wake you. But I have to check.â
âItâs okay, I know you need to do that.â You assured, eyes barely open. You took a peek at Janis before drifting off to sleep once more.
In the morning, after the doctorâs done her rounds, Janis could finally eat. âMy doctor told me Regina gave me her blood?â
âShe was the only one with your blood type.â You confirmed.
âThatâs crazy.â Janis says, taking a gulp of the orange juice.
After the 72 hours, Janis was allowed to go home. Damian came by to help you with her since you had some things to carry. âBabe. Do you think we should cremate or bury?â
âUh- we can take our timeââ
âI know, I just feel that we shouldnât delay it and make us keep dwelling on it.â
âI get that.â You nodded. She was right. After a short discussion, a cremation was decided. Then, scheduled. Both of you agreed that this way, you could have her with you- at home. Where sheâs supposed to be. Not at a burial site.
âMe and Tyler made yâall some frozen meals to make things a little easier. Okay? There are twelve. We will make more and bring them by.â Damian spoke up after awhile.
âThank you, Damian. Thatâs so helpful.â You hugged him first and he returns the gesture.
âLeast I could do.â He says, letting go of you, âAlright, I will leave you two alone now. Need anything, please let me know. I will come right over.â Damian gives Janis a hug too before he leaves, âI love you, please take it easy and donât go lifting heavy shit.â
As he leaves, you watch. Then your gaze lands on Janis who was opening up the cover of the memory boxâ which consisted of: handprints, footprints, photos and a teddy bear with Maliaâs heartbeat audio in it.
Janis asks to put those framed pieces up, and you helped her with it since she couldnât move around as well right now. The hand prints and footprints went onto a wall in a corner of yours and Janisâ bedroom. Along with a photo of her. You help Janis into bed and left the teddy bear with her. She immediately cuddled with it as she slept. You stopped in your tracks seeing the room next to yours and Janisâ- Maliaâs nursery. You stepped inside, sitting down on the chair by the bay window, watching the sky and orange tree in your backyard. A butterfly catches your eye, it lands on the windowsill and stayed there while you admired it. And you, you have always been terrified of butterflies. But you couldnât look away. You just couldnât. You just had this feeling in your heart this was for you. You were not scared of this butterfly.
âIf itâs you, fly to the window next to this one.â You said, not expecting anything. It started flying where you told it to fly. The bedroom window was left ajar to let the air in. The butterfly lingered for awhile and flew into the house gracefully. It lands on the dresser right by where Janis slept.
âWeâll be okay, Malia.â You whispered, taking in a deep breath, watching the butterfly leave.
ââââ
A week later, cremation was carried out and you and Janis were at dinner with the gang afterwardsâ sitting in the backyard under the stars. It was a much needed gathering which Janis greatly appreciated. âRegina.â Janis got her alone, âThank you. Iâll never forget it.â
âMy decision wasnât hard to make.â She says, ây/n made the toughest one of all. But I just did what a friend would do.â Janis willingly gives her a hug, a quick one, but â a hug. âIâm glad youâre still with us.â
âHey, Iâm a fighter.â Janis smirked.
âFuck yeah you are.â Regina agrees. âOkay, enough of the sappy things. Go have fun, eat some snacks. You deserve all the fucking snacks you want.â
Janis sits down beside you, you took her hand into your own as you laid your head on hers. âYou see that butterfly?â
âYeah.â Janis nods.
âItâs been hanging around since we got back from the hospital.â
Janis seems to catch your drift, âIâve been seeing it a lot. Made me think that itâs Malia, trying to tell us sheâs always going to be here with us no matter what.â
âI think so too.â You sigh quietly, âI saw it in the nursery window. I told it to fly to our roomâs window if it was Malia. It flew there and into our room. The butterfly stayed on the dresser.â
Janis presses a kiss to the side of your head, âI love you. Thank you for being so strong for me when I couldnât.â
You snuggled closer to her. Keeping a close eye on the butterfly hanging out you all. It does it again, flying towards you â and Janis this time. It lands on your knee, âIâm not afraid of this one. Maybe thatâs why I know.â
âShe loves you.â Janis says, âI love you. Please never forget that. You made a very hard choice, that I chose. And I can never thank you enough for that- giving me a second chance at life. No matter what, we have each other. And as we know, sheâll always be right here with us- stronger than ever.â

I just woke up and got my feelings hurt READY THIS FOR A GOOD CRY đ
Distress
Janis âImiâike x fem! reader
Warnings: hospital setting, descriptions of labour & delivery with complications, vomiting, blood & bodily fluid mentions
In which, Janisâ life ends up in your hands. So does your babyâs â and you had to make a decision that would be life altering either way
Itâs crazy how fast life could change. And how drastically it could change â all because of one thing.
ây/n, you have to choose. Quick.â The doctor urged you. You felt the blood draining from your face as tears poured from your eyes. You were all alone with a lifeless Janis on the operating table, surrounded by people- doctors and nurses but the most alone and helpless youâve ever been. You wanted so bad to fall on the ground and cry, but you tried to stay strong. Though you werenât sure what it was for at this point. You didnât know what to do.
Once Janis was confirmed to be in labour, you came into the hospital with her to meet her team for the occasion. You got her checked in then she was swiftly brought into her room that was picked out in advance. The nurses on shift got her changed into an open-back gown â which she hated, and got an IV plug set. She hated the latter even more. And of course, a fetal monitor. âAll done, mama.â The nurse smiled sympathetically, âYouâre all set. Just try and rest and weâll be by every hour to check on you. If you need anything, call button is on the remote on either side of your head on the bed rails.
âOkay, thanks.â Janis replied simply.
Once the nurse had left, Janis asks, âDid you tell them yet?â âI did. I texted the group. Cady said she and Regina will come by soon, after they have breakfast. The rest of them are probably still asleep-â Your phone buzzes, âItâs Damian. He isâŠon his way.â
Janis chuckles, âHeâs actually coming here?â
âYeah, thatâs what he said.â You showed her your phone screen briefly.
âDamn.â
You put your phone away, âHow are you feeling so far?â
âItâs not bad, maybe I just have high pain tolerance.â Janis assured, âIâm okay.â You press a kiss to her forehead, squeezing her free hand. Her contractions were regular, but not causing her much pain yet. It was true, Janis had way higher pain tolerance than you did.
âYou wanna get back to sleep, babe?â
She nodded, laying on her left side then drifted off to sleep while you stayed up keeping an eye on her and your phone in case any of your friends texted. Friends, yes. Family, no. Your parents didnât like Janis and her parents did not like you. Theyâve been against your relationship from the beginning but Janis didnât give a shit.
Periodically, Janis would make little pained noises in her sleep, alerting you that she was having a contraction. Not once did she wake up, until someone came in to check on her progress. Boy, did she hate that. She showed it and the doctor definitely already knew. Once the doctor leaves, Damian showed up. âHi, honey.â He greeted.
âHi.â Janis forced a smile, laying back down.
âHow you feelinâ?â
âUncomfortable. Especially with the doctor just shoving her fingers in to check me. What an invasion.â
âIâm sorry, but Iâm sure they need to do that.â He cringed, âHow are you doing?â He casts his glance you. âIâmâŠokay. Nervous? But fine.â
âOkay, do you want anything to eat, drink?â He continues.
âNo, Iâm okay I canât even think about eating right now.â You declined. The three of you chatted for awhile, then Janis just suddenly got silent- her eyes screwed shut and she reached for your hand. You let her squeeze it to divert the pain, âYouâre okay, baby. Breathe through it. You know what to do.â
Janis was handling it like a champ.
ââââ
An hour later, Cady and Regina arrived. âWeâre here.â Regina says, âHow are things going?â
âSo far, everythingâs perfect.â You told the pair, âProgressing as expected.â
Janis has gotten quieter, now that the painâs picked up in intensity somewhat. âJan? You alright?â
She nodded, looking away from you. You hear her exhaling harshly. âOkay. You want some more ice chips?â
âYes.â
âOkay, Iâll be right back.â You told her, grabbing the paper cup off the table. You left Janis alone with the three of them for a minute or so while you went a little bit down the hall to get what she wanted. Actually, all she was allowed right now. âHere you go, babe.â You stood before, holding the cup up to her lips with a spoonful of the crushed ice. She opened up her mouth and accepted it.
ây/n?â Regina asks, breaking the silence, âHave you not eaten anything today? Your stomach just growled.â
âI donâtââ
âYou need to eat.â Janisâs eyes flicked up to look at you.
âSheâs right.â Cady chimed in, âIâm about to go down to the cafeteria anyway. Iâll grab you something too. Please eat. We canât afford having you pass out today.â You reluctantly agreed while you fed your wife another spoonful of the ice.
âFuck.â She mutters under her breath, you quickly put the cup down and held onto her, rubbing her back as she leaned onto you. Regina and Cady leaves after having asked you what you wanted to eat, after Janisâ contraction ended. âWhateverâs fine.â You told them.
âOkay, then.â Regina shrugs, leaving with Cady. As if on cue, a nurse returns to check on Janis. âYouâre at a three.â
âStill?â Janis asked.
âItâs your first baby so it usually could take longer.â
âI can walk right? Thatâll help?â
âYes, dear.â The nurse answered, âYouâre doing fine, donât worry.â
âThanks, Melanie.â You said to the nurse as she was leaving. She gives you a smile. You helped Janis stand up and walk around the roomâ but not before putting on a pair of non-slip socks.
You put an arm around her and kept her steady while she walked. Damian was paying pretty close attention just in case Janis got a pain that was too bad and you couldnât hold her whole weight. The two of you took a few laps around the room before she decided sheâs had enough for now. Regina returns and handed you a ham and cheese sandwich and a cup of tea, âEat up. Cadyâs in the bathroom.â âThanks.â You took the food from the blonde and glanced at Janis in the meantime to make sure she was settled. âBabe, Iâm okay. Iâm just gonna take another nap before the pain keeps me awake.â Damian waits for her to be laying down comfortably before pulling her blanket up. âIâm so proud of you.â
Janis smiled at him, âThanks, dude.â And with that, her eyes were closed again.
Regina started a conversation awhile later after deeming Janis deeply asleep enough to not get woken up too easily. âAre you okay? You donât look so good.â
âI havenât slept in what, 4 hours and we only got five hours of sleep last night before her contractions started.â You told her, âI guess itâs just been hard for me to witness all of thisâ as relieved as I have been that her pregnancy has went by smoothly and is considered low risk.â
âBecause ofââ
You nodded knowingly, âMy miscarriage, yeah. I tried my best to protect her, keep her healthy and safe. Todayâs finally the day and I just want it to go well.â Unexpectedly, the usually unaffectionate blonde squeezed your hand. âSheâs doing great.â Regina looks at Janisâ sleeping figure, âLook at that monitor- sheâs having contractions but not making a sound? What a badass.â
A small sigh escapes your lips, âThanks, G.â You resumed eating, Cady walks back inside quietly.
ââââ
âI have a shift soon, so Iâll get going. Any of you, please keep me updated. I will be back later, okay?â Damian requested quietly seeing that you were now napping as well.
âSure, Damian.â Cady promised.
âThanks, yâall. See you guys later.â
You woke up from your short nap and it was currently hour five. At the last check, Janis had progressed from three to four centimetres. âNo one came in to check her yet right?â
âNo, but soon, judging by the time.â Cady assured.
Once the nurse walked in to check on Janis, she pretty much got startled awake. By the pain. Seeing that look on her face, you were instantly flustered. âSomethingâs not right.â You and your friends froze, you felt yourself getting lightheaded but you forced yourself to stay standing.
Melanie hurriedly checked what was going on. âIâm gonna call for her doctor now. We need to do a an emergency c-section and the babyâs heart rate is dropping. Sheâs haemorrhaging. y/n, Iâm sorry, you and your friends are going to have to leave the room.â
No, you couldnât leave her. Not right now. Janis was wailing in pain, the worst youâve seen her all day. All pregnancy. She was crying for you, but she knew you werenât going to be here. You couldnât be.
ây/n, please. Leave now. Her teamâs coming in right now to intervene.â Melanie started shoving you out of the room. Regina looked her displeased but quickly led you outside. You could hear and see Janis screaming and crying through the blinds. Until a minute later her team of doctors arrived and shut the blinds, but not before you caught a look of the pool of her own blood beneath her.
âOh, my fucking god.â You collapsed, heart shattered and crying in Reginaâs arms. She caught you, making sure you didnât hurt your head. For once in her life, the blonde didnât have a clue what to say. You felt another pair pf arms around you- Cady was also hugging you. But none of that helped- you wanted Janis to be okay. You couldnât believe what you just had to witness.
âSit down, baby. Sit down.â Regina persuaded. You could barely hear her, tears falling without an end. You heard the commotion of them rushing Janis into the operating theatre and you couldnât bear to look. Regina shielded your eyes from the sight, but they could definitely see it. You hear Cady gasp- she didnât mean it. But you cried harder. âSheâs a fighter, y/n.â Cady told you, âSheâll be okay.â
âYou donât know that.â You cried.
âShe has a lot to live for, she will fight for them.â Regina agrees with the redhead. You blinked furiously, trying to stop the tears but they only kept falling.
Somehow, the whole gang appeared before you. You didnât even know who told them but they were all here to keep you company. To hope and pray that Janis got through this. To make sure that the baby would be okay. As much as you appreciated them, you couldnât express it. Your mind kept flashing with images of Janis in distress. It haunted you. No one dared to stop you from cryingâ you needed some form of release but they were also equally worried about what would come for you after such intense crying. With your head in your hands, your mind wanders to a particular conversation you had with Janis sometime during her pregnancy.
âIf it ever comes to thisâŠthe doctor asks you if they should save the baby or me. Save me. We can always try again for a baby, one way or another.â
You sniffled, sitting up straight as you got into a coughing fit. Aaron quickly offered you a bottle of water from his bag. You declined wordlessly, right as a nurse rushed out asking for you. âMrs. âImiâike, come with me now.â
The blood. The damn blood. Your stomach churned. But you took a breath and quickly followed her. âWeâve no choice but to ask, should we save your wife or the baby?â She asked while running. You ran with her, through the double doors and into the freezing operating theatre.
âWeâre trying to save both of them right now, but in the worst case scenario, y/n, you have to choose. Quick. Right now.â
Seeing the team covered in her blood, seeing Janis unconscious. It shook you to the core, but you had to say it. You had to make the choice.
âWife. Save my wife- I donât care what it takes. You save my wife. I am not leaving without her.â
ââââ
You donât remember much from that point on. It was as though youâd blacked out. You didnât even know how you got back out, but you were sitting in the plastic chair shivering. Gretchen. She drapes a jacket over you. You werenât sure if it was her, but you heard her voice while you felt the fabric on your shoulders.
ây/n, look at me.â You hear Regina next. Your body just didnât respond to that, but your mind becomes hyper-focused on the sickening feeling. You stood up but quickly fell back in the seat. Your legs didnât work. Cady caught you this time- you hear her talking right by your ear as your head spun and spun. Your vision started to blur, your mouth watered feeling the bile rising in your throat.
You bent over and threw your whole breakfast up and then some. It does nothing but make you cry even harder, like that was even possible. They have never seen you like thisâŠso vulnerable. You were always the life of the party. You always were optimistic, even through your own miscarriage. But this was a big fucking blow.
âThey made me choose.â You sniffled, looking at no one in particular, âThey made me chooseââ
Aaron went to get a janitor to clean up the floor. ây/n, whatââ Cady began asking. âJanis and the baby.â You swallowed, hard, your back falling against the backrest of the chair. Karen hands you a tissue, you wiped your mouth off hastily and she took another tissue to remove the used tissue from your hand. âThey made me chooseâ and I ââ
Regina holds you in her arms again, almost on reflex, letting you get whatever you wanted to say, out. âJanis told me beforeâ to save her. And I didâ but I stillâ oh, my God. What if she blames herself for the babyâ G, Iââ
âSweetie, Janis knows what she wants and sheâs always clear. You did what she wouldâve wanted. You can always try again, but you only get one Janis.â
You only get one Janis.
ââââ
The next hour or soâ you werenât certain, was like a never ending wait and nightmare. Your head rested on Cadyâs shoulder as you tried not to give in to fatigue. Your head was starting to pound, you were so thirsty and your stomach ached from the inevitable hunger. But all you could think about was your wife.
The eerie sound of the double doors opening rang through your ears. You stood up right as her doctor approached youâ free of her blood-stained attire. âMrs. âImiâike, your wife is fine. But unfortunately, we had to let go of your baby. Iâm very sorry for your loss, but your wife pulled through. Sheâs strong, a fighter.â
âJanis is okay?â You asked in disbelief.
âShe received a blood transfusion for the blood loss thanks to one of your friends.â The doctor confirms, âShe will make a full recovery.â
âOh. Oh, my God. Thank you.â You hugged the doctor.
âItâs my job, dear.â She hugs you back briefly then broke away. âTheyâre just making sure sheâs all settled then sheâll be moved to a ward. High-dependency for 72-hours just to be safe.â
âOkay, thank you.â
âTake care.â With that, the doctor departs. You began searching for the said friend who apparently slipped away from the chaos to help Janis.
âWho was the oneââ
âReginaâs also O-negative so she went ahead and just gave her blood.â Gretchen answered your question.
âWhatâŠ?â
Regina did? This was the most selfless thing sheâs ever done for anyone.
âShit, I couldnât even helpââ
ây/n, please. Anyone would help- no questions asked. You canât choose your blood type. Thatâs- thatâs not how it works. Regina didnât even hesitate.â
âYou helped the most, y/n. You went with her wishes. You gave her a second chance at life.â Aaron chimed in.
Second chance at lifeâŠyou did do that.
âFuck, I donât know what I would do without you gââ You looked at each and every one of them, seeing Regina walking out from a room with a bandaid on her arm. You ran over to her and just tackled her in a hug, âRegina, thank you.â You sobbed, âThank you for doing that.â
âI did what I had to do.â She rubs your back, âDonât need to thank me.â
Later on, you were all informed of where Janis was sent to. They only allowed immediate family to enter, meaning only you in this current situation. But they all walked up with you, and you were so confused when you got there because her parents were inside. Already. They were exiting so they saw you, and they looked like they wanted to kill you. Maybe not literally, but their words sure hurt.
âShe would have been fine if it werenât for you.â Her mother spat. Given your current state, that was all it took to make you cry again. Reginaâs grip on your shoulders tightened. âThe doctors say Janis is okay.â Her father told her mother.
âNot for sure, she isnât.â
Regina was even angrier at this point, witnessing the hell youâd just been through. âSheâs the reason your daughterâs even lying right there now.â Regina spoke up, âNothing gives you the right to talk to her like that. She saved our friend, her wife, your daughter. If anything, you should be thanking her. You werenât here for Janis- y/n was here through all of it. You have no idea what sheâs been through today. You have no clue what sheâs had to see, to hear for the whole pregnancy, you have no clue what she herself has been through so donât you dare start this shit with me. Now move, itâs her turn.â
You quietly made your way past her parents and entered the hospital room. The pungent smell of antiseptic hit your nose. You cringe, eyes screwing shut for a second before you proceeded to sit in the creaky plastic chair.
âHi, my love.â You greeted her tearfully, carefully picking up her fragile hand. âIâm very sorry for the choice I had to make for you, I could only save one of you and I know you asked me to but Iâm so sorry. Please donât blame yourself for it, please donât do that. Like you said, we can always try again. But it was worth it because youâre still here with me. Youâre still going to be here with me - weâll continue to go through life together and nothing mattered more to me than making sure you were okay and didnât suffer for more than you had to.â
You pressed a tender kiss to her hand then let it go to brush the hair out of her face, âThank you for being so strong and fighting for yourself. I love you so very much, Janis.â

Donât get me wrong, I trust you guys but you guys have also destroyed each otherâs lives and this would be the perfect way to destroy mine but Iâm not saying that you guys would do that Iâm justâŠscaredâ you said freaking out and rambling âI totally understand why youâre worried but I promise this isnât a prank, we really like you y/n. weâve worked past our conflicts and weâre doing a lot betterâ Janis said with a reassuring smile âthereâs still stuff we have to work on and honesty is going to be very important in this- for usâ Regina added on âdoes this mean weâre girlfriends or does this just mean we like each other and weâre gonna see what happens because Iâm fine with either but also saying Iâm dating the two most beautiful girls Iâve ever met would be awesomeâ you say smiling like a dork, earning a small chuckle from Janis âgirlfriends?â Regina said looking at Janis âyou donât have to say yes, I donât even know why I brought it up, god Iâm so stupidâ saying the last part under your breath hoping the girls didnât hear you âdonât say that y/n, youâre not stupid, youâre smart and kind and funny and so not stupid donât ever talk about yourself like that againâ Regina said a little upset, not at you necessarily but upset that you would think about yourself like that âIâll leave it up to you Reg because Iâd absolutely love it but I donât want to make you feel lol you have to if youâre not readyâ Janis said looking at Regina âI think I want this but Iâm scaredâŠâ Regina said looking down at her hands, you gently grab Reginaâs hands and she looks up at you, her eyes starting to fill up with tears âReggie whatâs wrong, talk to usâ you say wiping a tear that fell on Reginaâs cheek âI donât know this is just a lot- a lot of new, itâs a good new butâ Regina was cut off by a big hug from you and Janis âcan we just not tell people yet Iâm not really ready?â Regina said leaning on you âof course Reg, weâll wait till youâre ready, Iâm really proud of you for communicating your feelings I know thatâs hard for you sometimesâ Janis said kissing Reginaâs forehead âSo girlfriends but not telling anyone yet?â You asked âmhmâ Regina said with a nod âsooo my amazing blonde girlfriend can I give you a kissâ you say with a little giggle âget over here you dorkâ Regina says pulling you in for a kiss âum Iâm feeling a little left out over herâ Janis said pretending to be offended âuh oh y/n it looks like we gotta smother Janis in kissesâ Regina says trying not to laugh âoh yeah definitelyâ you say starting to attack Janisâ cheek with kisses and Regina kisses Janis on the lips, when Regina pulled away Janis said âI think I can get used to thisâ you all started giggling. âWanna watch a movie?â Regina asked âooo yesâ you said laying on Reginaâs big bed âJ, can you set up a movie while I get snacksâ Regina asks stoping in her bedroom door frame âof course I canâ Janis says turning on the tv to find a movie. By the time Regina comes back up you and Janis are snuggled up waiting for her with a movie you guys have seen a million times but still love âaw you two are adorableâ Regina says after setting down the snacks and taking a picture âReggie get over here and cuddle with us so we can start the movieâ you three cuddle and eat snacks for most of the movie till you notice Janis starting to dose off âpsst Reggie, I think our girlfriend is getting sleepyâ you whisper over to her âoh baby I think youâre right, hey bubs you sleepy?â Regina asks Janis âhmm mhm sorryâ Janis mumbles cuddling in closer to the blonde âgood night J, weâll be here when you wake up, get some rest cutieâ you say kissing her forehead. Janis falls asleep between you and Regina while Regina puts on a second movie. You both eventually start falling asleep too. âReggie?â You mumble âhmm baby?â Regina replied sleepily âIâm getting sleepyâ you say then yawn âme too baby, go to sleep youâre safe hereâ Regina said reaching over Janis to boop you on the nose âgood night babeâ you say dosing off âgood night babyâ

Leave me alone
Content warning: underage drug use (weed)
Angst/fluff or hurt/comfort
Today was horrible. You woke up in pain, moving hurt, not moving hurt, just existing hurt. Unfortunately you had school which was boring and your cramps were killing you all day. On top of that you got partnered with the worst person in your class this stupid football boy that you knew wasnât going to help you for this presentation that was worth 30% of your grade. Then throughout the day your friends kept asking if youâre ok, you honestly think Stacey asked you like 5 times which was annoying and if you were being honest with yourself you werenât ok so every time you were asked you wanted to burst into tears. It was lunch time and you were way too nauseous to eat so you were just gonna go to the library when someone bumped into you causing you to drop all your stuff, you felt the tears welling up in your eyes, your lip started to tremble. Most people were out of the hallway when AJ entered and say you âHey y/n, you ok love?â She asked seeing you on the floor trying to get all your stuff âIâm fine, go awayâ you said in an almost whisper âyou donât look fineâ Aj said getting closer to you, you picked up your stuff frustrated âLeave me alone Aj!â You said about to sob the sadness present in your voice as you ran away from the track star trying to get to the nearest restroom to hopefully calm yourself. Just before you reached the restroom Aj stops you ây/nâ she says pulling you in for a hug and you just start sobbing. You feel so safe in her arms, like itâs just the two of you alone in this world. The two of you just stand there for a while with her hugging you close and you sobbing your eyeballs out. ââŠâm sorry Ajâ you say muffled do to your face being buried in Ajâs shoulder/chest âshh shh itâs ok I got you you donât need to say sorryâ Aj says rubbing your back. You sit up and rest your chin on Ajâs shoulder âtoday has been absolutely horribleâ you say with a sigh âjust one more class, ok? And if you want we can do something after school to take your mind off todayâ Aj says holding your shoulders gently âif youâre suggesting we get high and watch cartoons Iâm down, my mom wonât be home until late and she doesnât mind if I smoke as long as Iâm safeâ your mood shifting to a less sad slightly excited mood âoh yeah absolutely and weâre stoping to get food, my treat so donât even think about trying to payâ Aj says grabbing your hand and walking you to your next class âoh how would I live without youâ you say laughing a little. Your last class goes by quickly, Aj meets you at your locker after school âhey you ready to go?â Aj said leaning on your locker âyeahâ you nod and grab her hand interlocking your fingers with hers while you two walk to your car. You guys went to a gas station to get snacks âpizza? orâ Aj started to ask âpizza, definitely pizzaâ you interrupt her causing her to laugh a little âok pizza it isâ she orders the pizza so it will get there when you guys get to your house. You get to you house and take the snacks to your room when the door bell rings âpizzaâ Aj says leaving your room to get the pizza, you go in your closet to grab your bong and a few other things. âOk cartoons, which one? Iâm personally leaning towards amazing world of Gumball or SpongeBob?â âOoo tough choicesâ you two decided on a show and started to smoke âooo your weed is really goodâ Aj says after hitting the bong âthe joys of having the coolest momâ you say opening a bag of chips. You guys spend the next hour or so smoking and giggling until your both high enough to feel like the room was melting and your body felt tingly âwoahâ you say laying on the floor Aj is just staring at the tv giggling every once in a while âpssst Ajâ you said giggling a little âwhat?â She says turning to look at you âwant ice cream?â You say sitting up a little âooo yeahâ the two of you head to the kitchen and get ice cream from the freezer âthis was the best idea everâ Aj says sitting on the counter eating ice cream while you sat on the floor âI love ice creamâ you and Aj went back to your room and laid in your bed staring at the ceiling and both fell asleep
______
A knock on your bedroom door woke the both of you âY/n, Iâm homeâ âhi mom, Ajâs here too you can come inâ your mom comes in âhey girlsâ âhi Ms. (L/N)â Aj says sitting up âhi Aj, you two being responsible?â She says looking down at your bong on the floor âalwaysâ you say with a thumbs up âgood, Iâm gonna make dinner soon Aj will you be stay in with us?â Your mom asks âyeah, my parents are out of town and Gabiâs hanging out with Staceyâ Aj says. Your mom loves having Aj around she like a daughter to her and really hopes you finally tell Aj about your feelings but doesnât bring it up âAwesome Iâll be in the kitchen if you need meâ you mom says leaving âbye mom, love youâ âI love you too y/nâ your mom says closing your door and heading to the kitchen âyour mom is the bestâ Aj says leaning on you, both of you no longer high. Thereâs a semi uncomfortable silence bet you two âUmâ you both says at the same time causing the two of you to laugh âyou can go firstâ you say âok um so weâre close right?â Aj asks kind of awkwardly âyeah I think soâ you say thinking you know where this is going âum good friends right?â Aj asks âAj whatâs going on youâre being weirdâ âY/n I like youâ âoh thank goodness I thought I was going to have to make the first move that wouldâve been-â âcan I kiss you?â Aj asks interrupting you âwhat?â You heard her but you were shocked âI said can I kiss you?â Aj said blushing a little âYeah, I think Iâd really like that actuallyâ you say turning so youâre facing Aj completely, she gently grabs your cheek as you both lean in. The kiss was everything you were expecting, her lips were soft and so were her hands. You wrapped your arms around her bringing her in closer before you both pulled away for air âwoahâ Aj says âwe should um do that again some timeâ you say blushing âhow about right now?â Aj says with a slight smirk âoh ok um yeah, yeahâ you say as you both lean in this kiss was different, more passionate, Aj pushed you back on the bed while kissing you, then you both pulled away from the kiss. âSo girlfriends?â You ask âum yeah I think Iâd like thatâ she says giving you a quick kiss and then a long hug âmy beautiful girlfriendâ Aj says with a smile and kisses your forehead. *knock* *knock* âY/n, Aj foods ready when you areâ your mom says after knocking on the door âok mom weâll be out right nowâ you pull Aj in for one more kiss âwoahâ Aj said blushing a lot âcome on cutie letâs goâ you grab Ajâs hand and go into the kitchen to eat dinner with your mom and Aj ends up spending the night , you two just cuddle and watch movies till you both fall asleep.
A/N: I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it I real liked this one lol
