All of the brands above have disrespected black people in some way regarding fashion, and the reason they feel as though it is okay is because we allow them to do it. They do it with clear intentions showing that they don’t care for blacks people and when it is brought to the light and addressed they apologize foe it and black people go right back to buying from them. Name brand is so important to block people that they are willing to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on someone who constantly disrespects us just to look like “they got money”. But when black owned businesses post any of their prices they are too expensive. Why is it that $60 for a sweatshirt with a meaningful message made by a black person too expensive but a pair of slippers with just a brand logo on it for $250 a good price? The main problem is that black people have a problem with supporting other black people but are ready to throw their hard earned money at the white man that couldn’t care less about us.
I was born on a tree. I was picked by an underpaid laborer and some of my friends were even picked from underpaid children laborers. I was put into a sack and then taken to be traded. From there I was prepared to be processed, and prepared to be sold. My prices depend on the supply of my original form. Limited supply of cocoa means higher chocolate prices. The corporations that dominate the chocolate trade are the following: Mars wrigley confectionery, Ferrero group, Mondelez international, Meiji co, Hershey co, and Nestle SA. There are two main ways that I am marketed. The first way is to advertise by comparing weight and price of their brand chocolate to other brands. The second way is by making their brands chocolate seem rich and indulgent. Javani bought me at the vending machine. The store owner or in this case the owner of the machine would make about 37% profit off of me.
1) What is your own personal reaction to the Innocence Project, in general, and to at least one specific case? Are you surprised or shocked by anything on the site?
I think that the Innocence project is a great way to help and give back to the community. It helps people who are wrongfully convicted of crimes regain their freedom. I personally think that the Innocence Project is more of a help to minority groups because we are the most targeted group. There was one case about a man named Andre Hatchett, he was sentenced 25 years to life for a murder he did not commit, and at that he had special needs. I was really annoyed reading that because of how many passes the society gives our white counter parts with “mental illnesses”. I was shocked to see that there were some white people there, because normally white people are let off the hook a lot and not convicted even of things they did do nonetheless things they did not do.
2) Sociologists are often less concerned with rule violators than rule makers and enforcers. What does this statement mean, and how does it relate to the Innocence Project?
I think this statement means that sociologists are more concerned with making sure that the rules are set in place clearly so that if someone does happen to break the rules they can arrest them.
3) What about this exoneration project might interest a “labeling theorist?”
I think that seeing how other people of the society react and treat the wrongfully convicted person might interest a labeling theorist. Once convicted that title stays over your head no matter what. It becomes harder for them to get jobs because they have to check that they are a felon. Even some people they’ve known before might treat them differently because of the new tag that they now have following them around for the rest of their life.
The group I went bowling with is a primary group, because we are in a friendship that is made to be long term and it is expressive because it’s personal and emotional (we love each other). We are a in group and have no outgroup. We do not have a reference group.
1. The article relates to socialization because it shows how these children grow up. The article talks about pageants and the children in them. Most of the children that are in pageants are in them from young and since they are so young it contributes to the concept of them learning how to be a proficient member of society. The direct agents that contribute to these children that participate in pageants are their family, their peer groups and I would even go as far as to say the school also plays a role. From young these parents are instilling in their children this profane behavior. They give them energy drinks and dress them up in adult like clothing. Since the children grow up constantly around this, of course they are surrounded with children who also grew up like this, which is where peer groups come in. They pick up certain habits from the other children like wanting to wear a wig now or wanting to get their eyebrows waxed etc. Lastly is the contribution of the school. The school, most of the time is who hosts the events, therefore encouraging pageants to go on.
2. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dance+moms . Dance moms displays concerted cultivation because in the show the moms practically force dance on their children. They want every dance to be done right so that their child can win the competitions, and the children go along with it because one, their children so whatever their parent says goes and two, because that’s what they grew up on so that’s all they ever knew.
