Cursed Car?

Hello tumblr, it’s been a FAT MINUTE. Typed this up for my family and thought some might appreciate this write up. Let me know your thoughts!

Who remembers my blogs on tumblr? Well, this write up will explain what happened to my car this morning on my way to work. You guys know that my car, Snow White, is my baby.

She’s a 2012 Dodge Challenger RT, with pricey upgrades to make her essentially faster. Snow White, your niece, just got done with these upgrades and has been on the road being broken in for about a week.

Her upgrades required a month of precise surgical engine bypasses. In that month, to help keep my mind off the car i was shopping decals for Snow. I had come across this cool Japanese decal

And learned about this anime called ‘Wangan Midnight’. This show was around in the mid 2000’s about a series of cars in Japan that raced on the longest highway in the country, where loops/exits enabled the highway to become a circuit called ‘Wangan’. Unlike the popular drag and roll races here in the States, this show revolved around acceleration to top speed with track like maneuvers. The series goes into detail on building and tuning & mainly consists of the driver’s building their cars to become faster than one another.

The main car, a blue Nissan Fairlady Z31, is discovered and driven by a high school kid named, Akio. The Blue nissan’s nickname is ‘The Devil Z”. Akio learned that the first owner had died in a car wreck, and every time the car was rebuilt & brought back to life by another owner, it would crash on the Wangan. This show opened my eyes to how to build Snow, and with consultation from my inner circle of car gurus and junkies here, the information i learned from the show was 100% valid. So because the show gave me another level of inspiration, i decided to order the decal and install it when Snow was ready which was just two days ago.

I even downloaded some songs of the anime’s score that was played throughout the show, just for shits and giggles since i like to listen to OST’s and scores of movies/shows from time to time. Well, this morning pulling out of my apartment complex, i noticed the “Voice of S30z” (the link i provided) was playing on my iPod. Before i took off, I realized that the song had magically synced onto my iPod. I keep track of my songs and my playlists and i know FOR A FACT that i didn’t sync the song. Didn’t pay mind to it as i let the song play (possibly the song you’re listening to now if you opened the link.)

About 20 seconds into the drive, and the check oil notification comes on the dash and less than 1o seconds later, the check engine light comes on. Again, i didn’t pay mind to it, it was just indicating that i had to check my oil when i realized, Snow was refilled with BRAND NEW oil that didn’t have no more than 200 miles put on her yet since she was brought back to life. The next thing i know, her acceleration felt funny and she started struggling to breath as the engine legit began choking. Nervous, i’m SMHing, but i get her to go only 100 feet more taking a turn where she coughed and died on the road with traffic flowing behind me. Hazard lights went on, took my warning triangle out and started doing my checks. I checked the oil and tranny fluid and everything seemed fine.

Tried to start her and she just wouldn’t budge but the battery was still on. After about a minute or two, I was trying to call some people when i noticed the song was still playing so i randomly played the next track and turned off the radio. Nobody answered my calls since everyone was at work. I remember taking a deep breath and literally thinking to myself,

“Snow, we’re so close to going home. I can’t afford to replace anything in you now. Why are you doing this?”

Just for the fuck of it, i tried to turn her over again.

Boom.

She started. Bit my lip and thought it was too good to be true so i let her sit for a few minutes when ppl started calling me back. I felt confident enough to drive her so i pulled my warning triangles in and lightly drove her to the nearest auto zone which was a quarter mile where she stalled. The pedal felt fine, brakes were good. She was running smooth. Got to auto zone, explained what happened and the clerks ran their checks on the computer to see what the check engine light was on for. This is where it gets weird.

Three different ppl checked with three different tuners and no codes popped up on the computer. The mechanic said exactly, “I don’t know what to tell you. Usually when the check engine light comes on it means you have to check something and 90% of the time we get codes for people. There’s nothing popping up stating that something is wrong with your car, sir.”

So i sat in snow letting her run in fear thet she would die again. I noticed i was sitting in silence hearing the lobe of the engine when i decided to look at my iPod. I back tracked and noticed the fucking Voice of s30z song. I got chills RIGHT AWAY. And i deleted the song RIGHT AWAY. I legit could feel my heart starting to beat faster. COULD I HAVE CURSED MY CAR?! I didn’t wreck her but i just felt bad vibes after noticing the song and how it magically synced onto my iPod and played this morning.

OBVIOUSLY, i could be overthinking as something could be wrong with snow, BUT SHE WAS PERFECTLY FINE her first week back. She was fine when i drove my friend to the airport this morning as well & I haven’t raced her because i’m still breaking her in.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

A couple of my friends who know the show and know what happened are told me today to remove the decal. LMFAO. I’m highly considering it.

Anyway, i hope you enjoyed. Just felt weird with the story of the anime + the decal and the song randomly appearing on my iPod, which isn’t entirely a comforting kind of song either lol.

PS - i get that Snow White is an american car, but just the fact that the anime inspired me and taught me more about how to upgrade her i wanted to pay homage to the show and put the decal on since she could possibly the only muscle car with that decal. I’m always looking for ways to have my car stick out and that decal was one of them. Cheers =D
