Life has been incredibly hectic over these past few months and as you may or may not be already aware, I haven’t exactly been able to dedicate a lot of time to this blog.
          None at all, actually. Oops.
However, given the fact that some free time has become available to me, I have made the decision to come back and give myself an almost entirely fresh start. This means that all of my ongoing threads and drafts that I had will be DROPPED. I apologize if this is of any inconvenience to you, but I personally think this will be best for me at the moment.
That being said, if you would be interested in either interacting with me for the first time or starting another thread you’re more than welcome to shoot me a good old ask in the ask box and I will be more than happy to work something out with you!
In the meantime, this blog will be undergoing some heavy construction while I try to get everything in order, which hopefully shouldn’t take too long.
A big thank you to everyone who is still following me despite my absence and to all of my new followers as well!! I can’t wait to either begin or continue interacting with all of you <33

❝ You can see me ? ❞
Though it is a statement, the fluctuation of his voice phrases it as a question. His eyes widen and pale blond brows pull towards each other, his features conveying his surprise and confusion regarding the fact that he has been noticed. A moment of silence passes before the boy realizes why she has spoken to him. Cole blinks before casting his gaze downwards towards the bundle of crushed mint that he carries in his arms.
❝ Yes. Mint makes the cats dance and play -  seeing that makes her happy and lets her forget.  I don’t need the flowers, though . . . just don’t give any to Solas - the tea, not the flowers. He doesn’t like it when people do that. ❞

“So - you’re the one who’s been taking our mints, huh?” Caught red-handed, right in the act. She raises a brow. Grins. Funny - she hardly saw the guy come in. Then again, it seems he didn’t see her there, either. Works both ways, it seems. But then again, what does she know?
“Could you, uh, maybe leave the flowers?       They’re good for tea.”

The mage did not need to address him for the boy to be aware of his presence. His hurt was a beacon, loud and bright, pulling him in closer like a moth drawn to a flame - but even he could not fully anticipate the extent of the suffering that plagued both mage and spirit.
Underneath the man’s loose grip on his shoulder, Cole froze as though his touch had rendered him paralyzed. Their pain radiated like a tidal wave formed from a brewing storm, crashing over him with overwhelming force that left him frozen to the core. It ran deep in the mage’s veins, singing a loud cacophony as it coursed through him. It was just as much a part of his being as the spirit, a pearl that he couldn’t shake loose without making the hurt worse.
A small, desperate part of him wished that he could leave. He was too familiar, a reminder of what once was, an echo of memories he had forced himself to forget. Twisted. Corrupted. Wrong. They weren’t what they were meant to be - but perhaps they could be. That lingering thought was the only thing that persuaded him to stay, to turn and face the one who’s pain once echoed his own. A chance was all that he needed, a chance to help, to save, to heal because if he could not, he did not know who else could.
“Yes. Like you but not the same, familiar and foreign. They hurt you, just like they hurt Cole. Reaching, pulling, wanting to help, justice for the ones that have been oppressed for too long. . . but it went wrong. Now it hurts instead of heals.  I am sorry ”

Something stirred in him, a strange sense of familiarity, similar to when you smell food that reminds you of home or a face that you think you know, the mage reached out, not even sure himself why, to touch the shoulder of the young man.
“ You… you’re  different. “

❝ The taste is sweet on the tongue, the icing sugary and tantalizing as it sticks to the roof of your mouth.  It’s perfect until too much makes it not, just like everything else. Nothing stays the way that it should forever. But yes, I think they would like that.  ❞

Before Solas had so much as parted his lips to speak, Cole was already well aware of what he intended to say. His answer would be no different than the countless other times he had approached him with the plea, tone laced with sympathy and concern.  It was of no surprise to the spirit, then, when the elf cast his gaze downwards and repeated words that had already been spoken and that he was far too used to hearing. Still, the corners of the boy’s lips curled into a faint frown, disappointment etched on his pale and gaunt features.
“Yes”
There was little more that needed to be said. He knew his words to be true, and as such did not make the mistake of denying them. There were always others that he could help, others that needed more immediate help than Solas. Their hurts were tangible, easy to untangle and break loose He could help them by giving, whether that be a blanket to shield them from the harsh and bitter wind, or perhaps something less material like words of comforting reassurance and compassion. Solas needed neither of these things. There was no item he could give to heal the torment of past mistakes (save for something impossible for him to acquire) and any words that could be spoken would either tear open the scarred wounds or had already been said...but that wouldn’t stop him from trying.
“There are others that are louder, brighter, more demanding than yours, pulling me in. But you are quiet, softer than they are until I get too close. It gets sharper then, too tangled and too easy to tear. Pull at one knot and it makes the others worse. I want to, no, need to...but words make it fester and more comes in, radiating, unstopping and unbound. I can’t...”  The boy spoke so rapidly that it was a wonder how the words never sputtered or stumbled. His breath hitched in his throat and Cole squeezed his eyes shut tight, as though by doing so it might simply will the other’s pain away. He forced himself to take one deep and steadying breath; it was more than clear that dwelling on this wouldn’t make it any better. It took several moments for Cole to peak his eyes open once again and glance towards Solas, his sympathetic gaze expressing far more than words could ever hope to.
“ I’m sorry ”

“She did” The boy inclined his head downward towards a small pink, hairless creature that was currently resting next to his feet. The nug brushed it’s cheek against Cole’s extended palm that remained perfectly steady even as the animal’s long whiskers tickled against his skin. The confusion that lingered in the air was almost palatable and as the silence between them ticked on, it became progressively clearer to Cole that his answer hadn’t been the one that the man was looking for. He paused, taking a moment to chew on his bottom lip in thought before continuing.
“Eleven mouths to feed, eleven lives that depend only on her, everything resting on her shoulders. It’s getting colder now, and it’s harder to find enough food to feed all of them. Her children’s starving cries haunted her when she tried to sleep at night. I helped, though. She comes here and I give her cheese from the kitchens so that they don’t have to be hungry anymore.”
