“After all, [the world] is on my side. That is, I’m a part of it. Not separate from it. I walk on the ground and the ground’s walked on by me, I breathe the air and change it, I am entirely interconnected with the world.”

unironically love the phrase “but I’m being so brave about it” because truly, like, what other choice do we have in this wretched existence? what a beautiful way to remind yourself to keep going, even if only out of spite

what you don't get is science exists because people can love. medicine exists because people love each other enough to want each other to live long healthy lives. astronomy exists because someone loved the stars and the planets enough to track them through their ever changing position in the darkest night. science exists because humans are curious little creatures and we want to know the world around us and understand it like it does us. we know stars and planets worlds away, we've sent cameras worlds away, all because we love the universe, and we also put love in those satellites!! we sent the sound of a 100 languages, lovely messages, the sound of rain and a laugh, all out there just in case there's someone in the universe looking for us like we do them, and so that they know that they were never alone, and we sent them the most simple loving things we could find.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
― Frank Herbert, Dune

Don't guilt trip yourself :)
Do you find yourself having spent way too much time doing nothing, and now feel guilty about it and not studying/working instead? It's okay. Let's appreciate the fact that you realised it, and are willing to take an action on it :)
Set a timer for 20 guilt-free minutes.
Clean your desk. Make your environment attractive.
Clear your mind. Take note of all the things that are clouding up your clever brain :)
Get some kind of beverage/light snack to boost your mood, or something caffeinated to get you going.
Focus on the first thing you have to do, and just pay attention to it for 5 mins. Don't do, just think of how great it's going to be, now that you're going to get done with it.
Now let go of that guilt. Because you're back on your feet <3 You can do this!! :)
Tip: begin with smaller, low-effort tasks to boost your morale. Also, make bigger, scary tasks into smaller, trackable tasks, and do them one at a time.
Happy studying/working!
