i semi fear posting this but stop speculating about the cast members sexuality. shayne said it in the assumptions video, it is none of our business the sexual orientation of the cast members unless they decide to disclose. the vibes you get from a video does not justify potentially outing someone. the cast deserves privacy.

Sorry this may be a long rant but I just had to share it. As much as I am loving this new era of smosh, their silence and ignorance regarding the N**h issue is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Who exactly is making these decisions? Zoe? Ale?or Ian/Anthony?

Seems like they are trying to normalize his presence by putting him in more videos (even more than Olivia and Keith who are also freelance) and now in todays sitcom live promo. I get it if there are some legal issues that may come with them firing him based on his political views. But, they can’t do a simple charity livestream? Address the genocide that is clearly the main topic of all social media platforms? Or is it just selective activism for them and whatever suits their company at the time? Even Thomas sanders and Dan & Phil who are very well known have stepped up. Tyler Oakley has also been consistently vocal about this issue and it isn’t a one time thing.

I feel like whatever method they use to “apologize” for their silence or backtrack is not gonna be acceptable, at least to me. People are putting their jobs and livelihoods at risk fighting against the occupation and the governments that are supporting them. We’re not asking for a “3 person couch” statement ffs, just an acknowledgment would be enough from them. We’re not asking to have N**h put out a statement cause I don’t want to hear from him anymore. It’s obvious where his stance is, just from the instagram comment likes on his recent posts, dude doesn’t give a f**k.

Seems like there’s only a portion of the fandom who are actually calling them out on this issue but the rest of them don’t care? Like the difference between the Twitter/tumblr/TikTok community and instagram/YouTube community is insane. But since it isn’t affecting their income or views, they seem to be very comfortable just sliding it under the carpet.

Seeing the watcher video today made me realize that some of these “influencers” don’t actually care about the criticisms until it starts gaining momentum and affecting their views. Sadly, smosh isn’t getting that momentum and so they think that the longer they ignore it, people may just forget and move on.

I have been watching Smosh for a while and they have quickly become one of my favourite YT channels of all time. I am proud of the growth and improvement of this channel, and as a fan I would also want to hold them accountable for their actions. I still adore most of the Smosh cast members and they are the reason I still look forward to watching this channel. But with the current management decisions, they are just digging themselves into a hole that they might not come back from.

i'm glad you decided to share this with me because i actually got upset over the live show promo they posted today too. i didn't have it in me to post anything about it up until now.

idk how other people feel about it but smosh fans have every right to be upset over it. considering the context we know, my initial reaction was that it came off as distasteful, insensitive and almost felt like a mockery? knowing that smosh haven't done anything to acknowledge one of the most prevalent humanitarian crises today, their decision to promote their live show by creating a parody of hard-hitting charity campaigns about people suffering, and then having N appear (like the most unwelcome jumpscare ever) as a victim we're meant to feel sympathy for (the irony), was all incredibly unsettling.

you're right that only a small fraction of their viewers are clocking on and feel unnerved about all of this, and i genuinely believe it's to do with how they're censoring their chats, comments, etc. on all socials so that no one criticises N or even mentions anything to do with palestine. like i mentioned previously, they're going hard with the "ignorance is bliss" tactic. and yes, they're not gonna do anything to address the issue and won't care about it yet because there's not enough momentum around the issue. they're still getting views and earning enough money while staying silent, so they don't have a reason to be concerned.

i do understand why they've chosen not to speak out, like i've previously posted about. it may be easier for influencers like dan and phil, thomas sanders, and tyler oakley to openly raise funds to help palestinians because their brand is their own selves, though the risk is still there ofc, whereas smosh is a company with a larger workforce so the circumstance is more complex and the stakes are higher in a way as a result... but this doesn't mean they shouldn't be held accountable!

smosh are 100% ignoring the issue, to the point they've become oblivious to how insensitive this kind of promo is coming across. maybe worse, is it malicious intent? idk at this point. right now i'm genuinely upset over this. could i be overthinking it? possibly, but that's how i'm feeling at the moment.

censoring their audience is shady as fuck and then going ahead with a promo like this is painfully tone-deaf of them.

I want to comment something (either now or when the sketch comes out) about how actually uncomfortable it is that Noah’s going to be in it, but I’m actually afraid people will start teaming up against me in the discord server lol. They’re going to start spamming “Smosh” and stuff. If I do that I might just have to cancel my membership 😭

I think there could be a chance he’s actually changed his views but no one in Smosh has said anything so we don’t even know, and even if he has, it’s still uncomfortable. And yeah, he’s not even actively saying anything (or liking anything) anymore (maybe by Smosh’s advice) but it’s still not something I can just comfortably overlook.

I talked about this a little on Twitter but I think a reason why the most of the guest episodes are kind of more boring is because they tend to be more about the technical side of being a youtuber. I do find that stuff kind of interesting, but it’s a completely different vibe from the usual FWS episode.

That being said, I also think it’s not an inherent problem necessarily. They just kind of choose boring videos for those episodes? Lol. I’d love to hear more about Rhett and Link’s sketch style, y’know? And I love Jarvis’s content, but why are we actually reacting to a commentary video here?

However, the Annoying Orange episode was pretty good. Annoying Orange is something the average Smosh viewer probably has heard of but doesn’t know a lot about. Dane Boe is a creator that doesn’t present themselves as their real persona in their content, so there’s more to learn there. I don’t want Flashback to become ISADW, but having more guests like that would be interesting. They mentioned Lucas Cruikshank (Fred)? That could be interesting! Forrestfire? Just throwing out some ideas.

I do actually wish they would ease on the guest episodes though. I think these should be every third episode, at least. I still think the core show could use some more strengthening, but it’s way more laid back and fun.

This maybe a hot take and I’m sorry but i really don’t like that they started adding guests to Flashback With Smosh I liked it better when it was just Ian & Anthony reacting to their own videos. Please don’t hate me.

what’s so bizarre to me is that people seem to think a “speculation ship” is a good thing? It’s weird and invasive lol, come on, shourtney weren’t in as many videos together for a while and didn’t make their relationship public for YEARS 😭

and this is for both shippers and people who were against shourtney: them getting married and announcing their relationship to the public does not excuse or encourage all the creepy fan behavior that happened because of the ship. That was still a *bad* thing.

I'm seeing a lot of posts that are talking about how now since shourtney/shartney is confirmed damangela is the new speculation ship.

I have a kind of strange opinion on this, on one hand it's weird that females and males can't just be perceived as friends, but on the other idk why it's a huge deal. I personally enjoy their dynamic I think they're both really cool people that are super funny and sometimes even cute and wholesome together. Once we start talking about the romantic side things get more complicated. I'm not that invested in if they're dating IRL, and honestly I think it's strange when people are invested in that kind of thing.

I always thought it was weird, like they're real people and I think it's super weird to analyze every move they make. I enjoy the ship platonically but I also enjoy it romantically, I can see both sides, but when it comes to shipping people romantically I think it's best to separate it from real life. Like I read and write Damangela fanfiction, but I understand fanfiction is just for fun and my, and the fandoms enjoyment. I also understand thinking a moment they have is cute, like that's all fine and fun and I do it too.

My issue is just people who talk about them dating IRL and stuff. I feel like because of these people it's making people who just ship damangela together for fun look weird. It's kinda like a certain group of people made us all seem like we're weird when that's not the case. That's why I say it's not that big of a deal if you ship them together romantically as long as you're being respectful towards them and not crossing the line of shipping and real life. Like could they be dating? Yeah, but it's not your business. Like it's not okay just because they're YouTubers.

I hope i don’t annoy anyone by saying this lol. I think that MAYBE they’re making Sword AF a podcast because they noticed a lot of people actually put it on in the background?

I personally am not a fan of Sword AF so from this perspective I also feel like they’re doing this so it doesn’t take up an upload slot on Games (seems like numbered episodes don’t do well in the algorithm these days, but a series like Sword AF kinda needs to have numbered episodes).
