Breakfast Skipping and Associated Factors: Experience from Students at Public University in Noakhali District, Bangladesh_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Breakfast is often considered to be the most vital meal of the day as it is known to provide energy for the brain and improve learning capabilities. A simple random study was conducted among 403 students on a total of 3 university students in Noakhali district, Bangladesh. The objective of the study was to find the prevalence of breakfast skipping and its associated factors. Data collection was conducted via a selfadministered pre-tested questionnaire. The prevalence of breakfast skipping among respondents of the present study was 53.85%. Among students, about 213 (52.9%) were male and 190 (47.1%) were female. Univariate and bivariate analysis were used to describe the variables as well as to study the association between two variables, respectively where there was significant association, multivariate analysis was conducted to control for confounders. Factors found to be significantly associated (p<0.05) with breakfast skipping were faculty, academic performance, exercise, accommodation, smoking habit, skipping of lunch. Respondents who stayed in the houses with there were less likely to skip breakfast compared to those staying in hostels with meals catered (OR: 4.94, 2.21-11.06), hostels without meal catered (OR: 3.71, 1.71-8.04) or rented houses without family (OR: 2.32, 1.28-4.19). Respondent from Engineering & Physical Science (OR: 2.94, 1.66-5.21) and Arts & Commerce faculty (OR: 2.14, 1.20-3.81) had higher odds for skipping breakfast compared to the Life & Health Science. Study respondents who were smoker intended to skip breakfast (OR: 3.94, 1.74-8.93) higher than non-smoker. Respondents who skipped their breakfast have higher odds of skipping the lunch (OR: 2.23, 0.98-5.04) as well as the dinner (OR: 2.42, 1.03-5.69). The prevalence of breakfast skipping among the university students was high. Health promotion strategies should be initiated to encourage all students to eat breakfast regularly.

The Physiotherapeutic Management of Post Stroke Shoulder Pain: A Systematic Review_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Purpose: No single effective physiotherapeutic management has been suggested for Post Stroke Shoulder Pain (PSSP), the most frequent occurring type of pain after stroke. The aim of this study is to summarize and evaluate the effect of electrotherapy, training, exercise, thermotherapy and taping on PSSP originating from capsulitis, (sub)luxation and contracture.
Materials and methods: Two independent investigators systematically searched relevant databases for Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs). The methodological quality was evaluated by the PEDro scale. Inclusion criteria were (1) patients from any age, sex or type of stroke; (2) onset of hemiparetic pain after stroke; (3) RCT’s evaluating the effect of physiotherapeutic modalities on PSSP with a pain measuring scale.
Results: Nineteen studies out of the identified 266 met de inclusion criteria. They represented 792 participants. Ten studies with a PEDro quality from poor to high reported reduction of PSSP associated with shoulder girdle weakness, capsulitis and subluxation, whereas nine studies with fair to high quality reported no reduction after conventional therapy, electrotherapy, sling and taping or a combination of these.
Conclusion: Some studies reveal evidence for adequate management of PSSP with physiotherapeutic modalities. However, additional research with adequate study designs is necessary to confirm the effect of these modalities.

A Fluoroscopic Evaluation of The Navigational Properties of Male Urinary Catheters with Flexible and Non-Flexible Tips: A Study In Cadaveric Specimens_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Intermittent catheterisation is considered as the gold standard for subjects who suffer from urinary retention or incomplete bladder emptying. Essentially two types of male catheter tips are available, a straight tip (Nelaton) and a tapered, curved tip (Coudé or Tiemann). A new omnidirectional, flexible tip has recently been introduced and therefore the navigational properties associated to the various tips of intermittent catheters have been investigated in 9 unselected, fresh, un-embalmed male cadaveric specimens. The hydrophilic catheters were rendered radiopaque through exposure to water soluble contrast media and a <1mm metal piece in the tip. In a randomised fashion the catheters were evaluated with regard to reaching the bladder, ease of insertion and navigational properties. The cadavers (44-88 years old) all displayed some degree of urethral pathology, as expected for this age group. The insertion of catheters with the omnidirectional, flexible tip was in all cases judged as very easy/easy, with no significant difference between them. The fluoroscopic evaluation showed that the omnidirectional properties of the tips were directly translated into smooth less passage of the urethral lumen into the bladder. The conventional catheters did not display such a feature and could in some instances not reach the bladder. The results support the usefulness of flexible catheter tips and future studies in human will disclose whether this mucosal sparing effect has the potential to reduce urethral trauma in subjects in need for intermittent catheterisation.

Agrarian Population’s Occupational Health Risks and After Effects_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Agriculture is the prime occupation in India and many other developing countries. In the modern era, agricultural workers are confronted with many hazards include chemical hazards, biological hazards, ergonomic hazards, psychosocial hazards and physical hazards. Hence, the agriculture sector is associated with a variety of occupational injuries and illnesses. Compared with some other industries, agricultural workers are relatively facing higher risk of accidents than other workers. This sector of activity being most unorganized, suffer from certain specific health hazards due to extensive use of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides and mechanization [1]. The method used in this study was a review and analysis of past data. The study classified the number and rate of occupational fatalities for workers in the agriculture sector. This paper presents the results of a literature review undertaken to determine [2] the health risks faced by the agrarian population worldwide and their aftereffects. It was concluded that the negligence toward health hazards of the farmers is costing their quality of life, which they are totally unaware, and it is the need of an hour to give proper training to farmers from time to time so that they are properly educated about the components of their work and that would further prevent the precarious effects on their health in future.

Self-Directed Learning Skills of Undergraduate Physiotherapy Students: A Cross-Sectional Survey_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Background: Self-Directed Learning (SDL) is an important form of adult learning and is at the core of undergraduate medical education. SDL skills and technology readiness are postulated as integral factors influencing individual behavior and academic performance in blended learning contexts. So far, the predominant instructor-led face-to face learning approach in traditional learning environments has not considered the importance of these factors. Recently, strict nationwide lock down for the COVID-19 closed educational institutions and ushered in online learning to continue learning. Students are facing uncertainties in the online learning context and need to adjust or formulate their own best learning strategies to suit this newly adopted model of ‘self-directed learning with technology’. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the SDL skills of Physiotherapy students.

A Mini-Review on The Rehabilitation of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a rare, severe, progressive genetic disorder causing disability and premature death. Mutations in the DMD gene encoding the dystrophin protein leads to the dystrophinopathies DMD. It affects approximately 1 in 3500 to 5000 male births worldwide. Rehabilitation plays a critical role to overall management for individuals with DMD. A series of effective rehabilitation management strategies have been developed in multidisciplinary groups lead to help maintain a better patient’s Quality of Life (QOL), as well as maximize the patient’s physical and psychosocial functions. In this mini-review, we discuss revised guidelines for DMD care (known as DMD Care Considerations).

Rare Case Primary Report: Xia Gibb’s Syndrome_Crimson Publishers
Abstract
Xia-Gibbs syndrome (Mental retardation, autosomal dominant 25; MRD25) (MIM 615829), first described in 2014, is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by mental retardation, developmental delay, speech delay, structural brain anomalies, hypotonicity, protuberant eyes, visual problems, laryngomalacia and low sleep quality. It occurs due to heterozygous mutations in the AT-hook DNA binding motif containing 1 (AHDC1) gene on chromosome 1p36. Research reports published in 2020 by Ping et al. [1], states that about 100 patients worldwide have been identified, all of them in the pediatric age or adulthood. To date, no fetal XGS has been reported [1-4]. Xia-Gibbs syndrome (XGS) is a recently described neurodevelopmental disorder due to heterozygous loss-of-function AHDC1 mutations. XGS is characterized by global developmental delay, intellectual disability, hypotonia, and sleep abnormalities. We are here to report our primary observations and findings of a diagnosed case of Xia Gibb’s Syndrome referred for Physiotherapy with signs of development delay, atonia, joint laxity and related features.

The Effects of a Smart Posture Gear on Chest Expansion and Rehabilitation_ Crimson Publishers
Tumblr media
The Effects of a Smart Posture Gear on Chest Expansion and Rehabilitation by David Matsumura MD1*, Earl Brien MD1, Alexa Schneck2, Seiya Liu3 and Maya Cratsley4 in Crimson Publishers Chronic poor posture can be either acquired or the result of a genetic disorder. It is a prevalent issue and can lead to numerous musculoskeletal complaints, impacting physical and mental health. Kyphosis, or progressive slouching, is also associated with restricted thoracic mobility and a sedentary lifestyle, and often leads to limited chest expansion and poor pulmonary functions. One study found that those who are in a sedentary environment for over seven hours per day have reduced thoracic mobility because of habitual poor posture [1]. A decrease in thoracic mobility is associated with neck and shoulder muscle pain [2,3]. Forward head posture has also been found to cause structural changes that lead to defects in breathing and respiratory functions [4]. A sedentary position corresponds with high levels of Electro Myographic (EMG) activity in the neck and shoulders relative to those of a straight, standing posture, showing there is increased strain on these muscles when sitting [5]. A study conducted by Tudor L et al. [6] found that people with sedentary occupations spend about 11 hours per day sitting down. These findings suggest that the excessive time people spend in sedentary positions through work or other lifestyle factors puts stress on the body, affecting their posture and breathing, as well as neck and shoulder muscles. https://crimsonpublishers.com/epmr/fulltext/EPMR.000549.php For more Open access journals in Crimson Publishers Please click on: https://crimsonpublishers.com/ For more articles in Examines in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Please click on: https://crimsonpublishers.com/epmr/ For more details track the below URL https://www.linkedin.com/company/crimsonpublishers

Rehabilitation in Connective Tissue Diseases_ Crimson Publishers
Tumblr media
Rehabilitation in Connective Tissue Diseases by Salem Bouomrani*, Malek Kechida, Saoussen Mahersi, Zohra Ben Salah Frih and Sana Salah Connective Tissue Disease (CTD) is a heterogeneous group of chronic inflammatory conditions characterized by involvement of conjunctive tissue and a common autoimmune signature. These diseases include systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis, Sjogren’s syndrome, mixed CTDs, and undifferentiated CTDs. Cutaneous, articular, muscular, pulmonary and cardiovascular manifestations are among the most frequent during these diseases and often lead to a functional and physical disability that sometimes severely affects the quality of life of these patients. Rehabilitation and physical therapy play a crucial role in the management of patients with CTDs but despite their proven benefits, they are often neglected and represent a challenge for clinicians. This overview focuses on the rehabilitation of cutaneous, musculoskeletal and cardio-pulmonary involvement of CTDs. https://crimsonpublishers.com/epmr/fulltext/EPMR.000545.php For more Open access journals in Crimson Publishers Please click on: https://crimsonpublishers.com/ For more articles in Examines in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Please click on: https://crimsonpublishers.com/epmr/ For more details track the below URL https://www.linkedin.com/company/crimsonpublishers
