OMG. I really thought Gilbert was behind that door! I really did. I got excited that there was going to be a reunion of some sort after all that melodramatic build up to the final scene. Surprise there was nothing there. Always have to keep my hopes in check to avoid disappointments.
Hello, it's me again~ I saw you answering some questions about Jiro and Misaki's life, so I got curious, more than I already am tbh xD about Lin. How's Lin sense of fashion in the novels, is there any description about it? Does he have anything in particular that he likes or dislikes? Anything really, food, clothes, games, knives (lol)
I don’t remember much likes and dislikes for characters. I tend to remember more of the finer details as I’m translating since I have to look at each line closely than just casually reading.
But Lin’s fashion. Oh boy, yes! In the LN he wears quite a few different outfits. I’ll provide some of the descriptions for them and the panels from the manga, as they have adapted closer to the original material. ;)
“He wore a black dress and long boots. The makeup was a little more heavy than usual, but regardless he looked like a woman.” Volume 1, First Inning
This is the outfit he’s supposed to wear in his introduction. He actually steals clothes from the woman he wears in this scene, which some of it he wears as the main outfit you see him in.
“I said I didn’t like killing women that much, but let’s take a step back on that. Lin considered as he looked through the room’s closet. This woman had fairly good tastes in clothing. He stuffed many of the clothes he liked into a branded bag that he also took. If he killed a woman, he gets to take their clothes. It was killing two birds with one stone.” Volume 1, First Inning
“He put on his earned spoils on his clean body. On top was a white chiffon blouse with a ribbon at his chest. Below was a high-waist flare skirt with black polka dots on a brown canvas. Both were spoils he took from the woman’s closet he killed. The size was about right and suited him rather nicely. After wavering on whether he should wear tights or socks, he decided on long black socks that reached up to his knees. Putting on gray long boots with round studs on the heel, Lin left home.” Volume 1, Fourth Inning
He doesn’t wear the polka dot skirt in any of the illustrations or official art. But I think that was a good decision.
I’ve mentioned it before, but when Lin is supposed to visit the Kakyuu Group, he is required to wear a suit.
Now in the second volume, since it’s summer Lin is wearing an appropriate outfit for the hot weather.
“The last day of June in Fukuoka had the sun shining brightly and with seething heat. Even though he was wearing a cooler outfit with a T-shirt, short pants, and mule shoes he was already sweating just by walking a little bit.” Volume 2, Second Inning.
Oh, and then this plot and scene was entirely cut from the anime. Lin goes undercover at a Club.Eve as a hostess named Rinko to investigate an affair.
“Lin had already had his hair and makeup taken care of by the former beauty artist, Jiro, and he was wearing a light pink, one-shoulder dress. He was wearing a silicon padded, nude bra to deceivingly appear to have a bust.” Volume 2, Third Inning
