It's time for your weekly scheduled rant
So I would imagine that Reginald is very professional when it comes to his job. He follows the rules, does what he's told, etc.
I've seen a couple of people say that handlers aren't supposed to get attached to their agents because they could die easily and they want the handlers to move on really quickly
Because he's a rule follower, Reggie built up major walls with his agents. He never got attached. All of the other handlers were weirdly jealous he could just turn off his emotions concerning the agents. It's probably one of the reasons he's the senior handler.
Which makes Phoenix and his relationship even weirder to outside observers because Reginald Crane does not break the rules.
He's very obviously friends with them. Phoenix talks about him all the time and Reginald likes to brag about Phoenix's achievements to the other handlers. Phoenix casually hangs out at his house (which either means Reggie told them where he lives or they figured it out on their own and he didn't stop them). He even directly violated protocol one time trying to directly intervene with a mission to ensure their safety. He doesn't hide it very well.
So while I think most of the agents are jealous and intimidated by them because of their track record(and saving the world three times), I think all of the other handlers are slightly scared of them because how on earth did they get Reginald Crane to care about them this much?!?
Are they blackmailing him? Do they have mind control? That is the most professional man in this whole organization and he's broken the rules multiple times specifically for this agent!!! Why would he do that?!?
(also, funnily enough, I made this headcannon that like half of the handlers thought Phoenix was a Zoraxis double agent until the Death Engine)
Prism when she came back (not to the agency, mind you) teased Reggie about this because he totally gets attached. He gets attached to all of his agents. He just knows how to hide it and move on when they die.
"That's what everyone thinks about you? Reginald, you should audition for a movie or something, because if the whole office thinks that then you're a better actor than Juniper."
Basically, Phoenix isn't a one time fluke, they're just the one who's survived the longest.
(But the other handlers don't know that, and I think it would be funny if one of them tried and failed to blackmail Phoenix into not blackmailing Reggie because they're not blackmailing him.)
Rant over (if you wanna write something that's kinda based on this then please tag me because I wanna see)

its really cool that we discovered glass which is the material that doesnt have any chemical reactions with anything in the universe very useful for doing chemistry due to being able to put things in it to contain chemical reactions and never having it react with the things that are in it due to it being completely and entirely unreactive to every chemical

whats cool about being trans is my parents are totally right. i did kill their beautiful son. im the thing that animates his corpse in an ever more convincing parody of a happy girl. i devoured him from the inside out and now there is nothing left of him and he is dead dead dead and there is only me, with my hollow eyes and dark eyeliner and long hair, and my big smile. my limp, effeminate gestures belie the marionetting of the boy they loved. my fagginess is his death. already his body becomes a fitter home for my parasitism in full; the tits, the hips, the thighs. sorry about your kid. thanks for the biomass <3

Ouh. I really like how out of all the antagonists in the series, Prism's motivations (and her turning to Zoraxis) are directly influenced by Phoenix's track record. She has the most personal beef with the agent, though it's a little ironic that her TK implant helped the agent's success. If it weren't for Prism, Phoenix wouldn't be the legend that they are known for.
...Except...That's minimizing Phoenix's own ingenuity and skill with the implant, isn't it? It's a useful tool, yes! But in the end, it's just a tool. Phoenix was able to use it in unique ways, and that's not counting whatever else Phoenix has to do in the moment without TK. If it weren't for Phoenix's own efforts (and their strange ability to not Die), Prism wouldn't be forced to take revenge.
They're their own self-made people, but inevitably they left such a huge impact on each other before the third game...and if Prism wasn't the one who personally added the implant in Phoenix's head, then they haven't even interacted in person!
It could be seen as a little tragic, and it sorta is--Prism's desire for revenge is a little misplaced (and, yes, it is bolstered by Zor when she switches to their side). For all we know, Phoenix never intended to be the villain in Prism's story. But Prism's frustrated and angry and devastated about being reduced to the One Project she made. She just wanted to make something bigger than herself.
And it's really nice to see Phoenix help her once she recognizes that Zor's been using her all this time...even if it takes some time for Prism to really let them help her.
It takes the combination of their unique skills, brainpower, and their eventual trust in one another to destroy Zor's volcano kinesium base. Prism gets saved by the person she thought made her dreams impossible, and in return, Phoenix gets saved in the one IEYTD ending where they're not declared legally dead. I feel like that's something interesting? Because this is also the one finale where Phoenix has an active ally working with them close to their side (...as close as Prism and Phoenix could get, anyway).
Well. Anyway. What was I talking about? Enemies who are closely intertwined with one another's journeys end up becoming each other's most important allies? Okay, yeah. Let's go with that.

Unhinged Phoenix.
Phoenix feeling like they've sold their life and soul to the EOD, only to get nothing back.
Phoenix watching as Zoraxis' plots shift from world domination to just fucking with them.
Phoenix realizing they're unappreciated at best and a toy at worst.
Phoenix reaching the end of their rope and snapping.
Phoenix burning down the EOD and Zoraxis with their own hands and razing the grounds they were built on so there's nothing left to come back.
Because nobody is ending this but me.

So, Phoenix is unbothered by alcohol, we know that much. And yeah, they can be knocked unconscious with sedatives, but when they wake up they're, in the grand scheme of things, totally fine.
They can wake up, eat a meal, and solve a death trap in under 5 minutes (incredible bounce back coming as someone who's been put under for multiple surgeries imo). No nausea, dizziness, or anything the sort, immediately functioning just fine.
So, what if Phoenix metabolizes sedatives really quickly?
What if they were knocked out with a poison and taken into Zoraxis custody and woke up early from the attack? What if they were in a room full of Zoraxis operatives who were casually discussing their plans for the bird, meanwhile Phoenix is awake and desperately trying to look convincingly asleep. Maybe they even pretend to be waking up, slow, shuddery motions, trying to curl up to push back a fake nausea, not looking at anyone as they shake and hiccup, "trying to not be sick".
Then, suddenly they hear a bunch of EOD operatives flooding into a building for a rescue operation, and snap to, easily slipping out of the restraints they'd been feeling around for the last hour or two and making a mad dash for freedom, much to the immense confusion of every Operative in that room.
Zor knew the whole time, but they just wanted to see how far the Phoenix would go with the theatrics.
