Your local forest cryptid here to give y'all a few reminders:
• Christians didn't steal everything from pagans.
• Just because the Romans did it doesn't mean we should do it, too.
• Celtic is a very broad term that consists of what are now multiple different countries, and every one of them are different in culture. They are not a monolith. Don't treat them as a monolith.

BEHOLD, FOR NATURE RECLAIMS THE SACRIFICE THAT THE ESTABLISHMENT REFUSES TO ALLOW US TO MAKE. IF WE CANNOT BURN IN SACRIFICE TO THE GODS, THE GODS WILL TAKE WHAT IS THEIRS BY FORCE

since ive regularly needed these reminders over the past month or so since i quit: not working is completely morally neutral. everyone deserves respect and dignity regardless of employment status. ones ability to work should not determine their worth etc etc. i love my unemployed baddies

The power company sent out a mailer about "energy vampires" and for a lil bit I forgot that that's what you call appliances that get left plugged in when they're not in use and I thought the power company was gonna cancel me for having toxic vibes at a beltane ritual

Conpantheonism
What is it and how does it work?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Conpantheon is short for "constructed pantheon". This term is used by people that "create" pantheons. But how does this work exactly? Well this works a number of ways. Let's get into them.
Archetypes. Some people believe that deities don't actually exist. That they are just different aspects of concepts and that those concepts hold a certain kind of essence. So deities like said Ares and Morrigan don't exist but are instead two different aspects of the concept of war and instead people work with the aspect that they connect with the best. How this works with conpantheonism is that, maybe an individual just doesn't connect with the already existing concepts. So the create new aspects in order to connect with the essence of these archetypes better. Essentially creating new deities and even pantheons.
Thoughtforms. Just like with the archetype people, the thoughtform conpantheonist may not connect with gods that already exist. Many of these people also believe that deities aren't real and are instead massive egregores that exist due to humanity believing in said mythological entities. But this is not the case for all. Some just wish to create a god, gods, or pantheon. This could be because of lack of connection to already existing gods or because they would like gods that they could have a closer bond with (due to creating them) than they can accomplish with already existing gods. These kinds of pantheons can also be made from pantheons say, made for a DND campaign. Maybe one created a fictional pantheon and then decided to work with said pantheon.
Pop culture ties. Some deities exist in pop culture media but are perhaps, not named. Some don't have known deities at all but are either created or know from say, a fictional past life. This is a cross between pop culture paganism and conpantheonism. A good example of this could be The Jellicle Moon from the musical Cats. A deities is not specifically mentioned but there seems to be some sort of sentience or reverence in relation to the Jellicle Moon. One could expand on this and create a thoughtform that is the Jellicle Moon deity. Or maybe one is Jelliclekin and is simply reconnecting with the deity they had present in their past life.
Unknown Gods. Many believe that there are pantheons of gods lost in time and/or pantheons from other dimensions that are crossing over into our dimensions to explore or follow old devotees that once lived in their dimension (like in my case). These people often take great delight in learning about these gods and it's not uncommon for one to put out information out on them as well (like how I'm doing). This is the most common form of conpantheonism.

Well. That's all for now. I hope that you enjoyed this little informational post. I felt like it was necessary since I was posting about my own conpantheon. Feel free to ask any questions. My askbox is open and anon is on.

i cannot for the life of me find that essay about how sterilized, approachable, “nice” literature was used in victorian england to create a cultural imaginary that wholeheartedly ignored the atrocities being committed by the state, but every time i see someone sincerely make the argument that escapist stories are the only moral form of storytelling it rings in my head like a bell. it haunts me. some of y’all actually think that wide-scale erasure is better that attempting to grapple with messy reality in fiction and it’s honestly so exhausting
