The Land I Lost

Literally everything about Alec Lightwood in The Land I Lost makes me absolutely feral. The fact that he's trying to learn Indonesian for Magnus.

This entire passage:

Like? The scorn from the idiot Shadowhunters? Lily's sass? The way Alec puts his hand on his weapon, fully willing to literally fight in defense of Magnus's (or Lily's) honor?

The way he's absolutely convinced other Shadowhunters would try to murder him if they could get away with it but he uses his privilege to defend Lily.

This scene:

relatable as hell. I, too, am bad at faces at names.

The way Alec relates to Juliette's claim on her Downworlder children. The way he loves Max so fiercely.

This is literally from like 5 pages. Every single line of this entire short story is like one gut punch after another. I was giggling and kicking my feet while I read it. Alec and Lily's friendship is one of my favorite things and I love how hard Alec fights to make the world a better place and how he earns the trust of the Downworlders he protects.

Alec Lightwood is truly one of The Characters Ever. And I will never get over Alec and Magnus. They are the definition of love.

shoutout to heartstopper for not shying away from using the world lesbian once again in season 2. actually shoutout to heartstopper for using all the words, bisexual, lesbian, asexual, aromantic, trans. shoutout to heartstopper for not only using the word gay, but making characters reclaim their identities in every possible way. nick always clarifying that he’s bi, actually. the person at lambert saying they’re asexual and aromantic. tara and darcy calling themselves lesbians. it is so empowering to hear it on tv

There is one thing i noticed in the movie and i absolutely loved that i need to point out cause i've never seen anyone talk about it.

When they're in Paris and Henry says they should make love that night, you have Alex going all nervous and adorable and Henry looking at him in the sweetest way ever

And then that idiot goes "i mean who says make love anymore, are we gonna like listen to Lana Del Rey while we do it??" AND LOOK AT HENRY'S FACE 💀💀💀

YOU CAN HEAR HIS THOUGHTS ah yes, back to being a dumbass THAT MAN IS DONE ☠️☠️☠️

yall ever think about how the “you keep me human, tom” line probably goes all the way back to the academy when thomas was the last and only person treating alastair like a real human being instead acting like the real him was the mask he put on yet hated so much, in turn really being alastair’s only link back to his real self and humanity? yall ever think about how thomas probably literally kept alastair human and stopped him from sinking into the facade he’d had to rely on for so long?

I think that we as a society should get more comfortable with the idea that sometimes our friends will be attracted to us and sometimes we will be attracted to our friends and nothing needs to come of that.

You don't have to date. You don't have to stop being friends. You can just keep hanging out. Self control and respect exists.

And sometimes you will date your friend and figure out that your dynamic worked better when you were friends. And then you can go back to being friends. It's really quite simple. Mature and cool, even.
