SUPERCESSION OF THE FAMILY UNIT
This is an excerpt of a much larger article I am currently writing concerning the industrial revolution and relative surplus value.
***
The peasant family was a method of production, stemming from the then private and isolated character of labor and means of production, vital both for organizing the production (upbringing) of the human species as well as its various needs. The modern family can claim neither of these titles, and is solely kept around due to the still private character of ownership in the capitalist economy, in other words due to the modern economy's commercial character. Itself a decentralized, thus anarchic institution, it periodically comes into conflict with the development and expansion of industry -- which by its very nature requires centralized planning -- and results in crises of social reproduction. Japan is a particularly stark example today due to its aging population, which, if continued unchecked, is setting Japanese society up for a population crisis; soon there will be too few of the younger generations to take care of the elderly.
The capitalist state tries to bandage over the incompatibility between the family unit and modern industry through the use of policy and propaganda, but they are mere bandages. And such an anarchic and decentralized system of reproduction can only be controlled indirectly through the usage of culture and legal prohibition or de-prohibition. Mandatory heterosexuality and anti-abortion laws serve as ways the capitalist state tries to increase the birth rate. Capitalism is always therefore potentially homophobic and anti-abortion. It's no coincidence that after the 2008 crash, and the consequent almost total stagnation of industrial growth in the United States, that we saw the legalization of gay marriage and the normalization of transgenderism, and now that a labor shortage has emerged, the political and cultural assault on queer people and women has resumed.
The "feminization of the population" has also become a political issue by virtue of the impending world war. The army wants Real Men. The inevitable war is also a product of the conflict between industry and commerce, and when the international communist society is finally achieved, war will lose its economic and political basis.
The cultural concepts of man and woman stem from the sexual division of labor (which is especially strong wherever plow agriculture is practiced) which modern industry has made completely superfluous. The titantic progress of the LGBT and Feminist movements in the United States serves as a partial recognition of this fact, but both are completely unable to grasp the full significance of it due to the class collaborationist nature of those movements. You cannot put forward a communist program when you're forming alliances with the bourgeoisie and the middle classes.
Today the sexual division of labor still exists in many industries due to the intensity of the work, especially wherever manual labor is concerned, but the division has been severely weakened by the industrial revolution. Machinery makes possible the de-intensification of labor and the shortening of the working day, thus the employment of children and women, completely destroying the sexual division of labor in the process and giving children an intimate technical understanding of production and social life in general. However, this de-intensification is obstructed by the hunt for profit, an outgrowth of the commercial character of the economy.
Finally, egg and sperm banks, artificial insemination and surrogacy, unambiguous fruits of the industrial revolution, make possible the complete obliteration of all meaningful sex differences in the field of reproduction. It would render socially useless any attempt to prevent people from transitioning.
With the death of the sexual division of labor, the cultural distinctions between man and woman will become diluted into nothingness over time, having lost their social usefulness.
In contrast to today's hyper-individualized and estranged culture -- the youth especially feel it -- modern industry makes possible and even desirable the complete supercession of the family in favor of a centralistically organized system for the communal planning of births and the communal upbringing of children. It moreover allows the combination of child labor with education. The consequence will be the creation of a generation of tightly nit, genderless, socially integrated polymaths, one of the greatest levers for destroying the division between mental and manual labor, making everyone at the same time a scientist, an artist, a farmer, a supervisor, a mechanic, a factory operative, without any field of activity becoming a career or occupation. It will spell an end to today's double plague of mass loneliness and mass ignorance. (Even the most cultured today are, as a general rule, idiots in everything except their narrow profession. The marine biologist knows nothing about the history of the industrial revolution, and the historian knows little of its economics.)
None of these measures are taken because it represents an expense to capitalist society, despite its clear advantage both culturally and in terms of the organization of labor itself. Commerce only concedes to communism when it turns a profit.
But as I've said the industrial revolution was the construction of communism inside of commercial society. This raises the question of why the industrial revolution happened in the first place. It's then necessary to return to the central theme: surplus value.

it would be kinda cool if hollywood being shut down had the side effect (besides hopefully getting everyone better working conditions ofc) of getting some non US movies and shows a bit more of a platform again outside the US, cause why the fuck is there like mostly only hollywood in much of the world, i love the chokehold US imperialism has on pop culture, it's great

I had to mentally send myself a reaction image the other day. I ran up the stairs on all fours, said to myself “i’m such a locationpilled scampercel” and then perfectly envisioned this image

Oh my god Wisconsin's governor just used a line item veto to secure school funding increases every year through 2425. He struck out a line so it now reads "through the 2023-2425 school year". He's allowed to do this lol

Deltarune Analysis: How the soundtrack is intrinsically tied to Asriel
Another quick analysis, mostly because an older post that wasn't by me has since been deleted, so I'm trying to make this as a sort of backup. I'll be talking about two songs. - Don't Forget - WELCOME TO THE CITY First, Don't Forget. A melody that is used in the area "Field of Hopes & Dreams" (which in of itself is named after Asriel's own battle theme.) Someone on Twitter a while ago pointed out that multiple notes from Don't Forget are lifted directly from H&D, almost in a reversed pattern. The post is gone, but I've tried to recreate roughly what it was like. The visual aid helped make it a little clearer, but I can't really record a video, so this is the best I can do.
Possibly coincidental, sure. Second and last, Cyber City.. This one is undeniable in that the melodies are quite literally FROM Hopes & Dreams. They play at double time.
It's pretty easy to hear, especially when the drop in H&D happens. So, that's about it. Asriel leitmotifs keep popping up, there's probably even more that I'm just too stupid to figure out.

Last DR Post cont'd: JP EDITION
A little more to talk about, as well, that is seperate. BARE IN MIND that the translations aren't done by Toby themselves, HOWEVER Fangamer have direct input on the game. ALSO, I don't speak fluent Japanese at all. So I'm using DeepL in order to translate the pages and content.

And Mike's role as "not the TV..."

So, that's my closing bracket. Not much else to bring up, but there's a lot of small things.
