ॐ सुमुखाय नमः। Oṃ sumukhāya Namaḥ -He has a beautiful face. ॐ एकदन्ताय नमः। Oṃ Ekadantāya Namaḥ -With one tusk. ॐ कपिलाय नमः। Oṃ Kapilāya Namaḥ -Of grey colour. ॐ गजकर्णकाय नमः। Oṃ gajakarṇakāya Namaḥ -With elephant ears. ॐ लम्बोदराय नमः। Oṃ lambodarāya Namaḥ -Large belly. ॐ विकटाय नमः। Oṃ vikaṭāya Namaḥ -Fierce. ॐ विघ्ननाशाय नमः। Oṃ vighnanāśāya Namaḥ -destroyer of obstacles. ॐ विनायकाय न���ः। Oṃ vināyakāya Namaḥ - Heroic leader. ॐ धूम्रकेतवे नमः। Oṃ dhūmraketave Namaḥ -Smokey or grey flag. ॐ गणाध्यक्षाय नमः। Oṃ gaṇādhyakṣāya Namaḥ -Controller of masses. ॐ भाल चन्द्राय नमः। Oṃ bhālacandrāya Namaḥ -Moon on forehead. ॐ गजाननाय नमः। Oṃ gajānanāya Namaḥ -Elephant faced.

स्तुतिः stutiḥ-Hymn:

sumukhaścaika-dantaśca kapilo gaja karṇakaḥ | lambodaraśca vikaṭo vighnanāśo vināyakaḥ ||

He has a beautiful face, a single tusk, grey colour with elephants ears, a big belly, fierce, the destroyer of obstacles and heroic leader.

dhūmra-ketur gaṇādhyakṣo bhāla-candra gajānanaḥ | dvādaśaitāni nāmāni yaḥ paṭhec-chruṇuyād api ||

He has a grey banner, the lord of the multitudes, with the moon on His forehead, the one with an elephants face. Whoever recites these twelve names….

vidyārambhe vivāhe ca praveśe nirgame tathā | saṅgrāme saṅkaṭe caiva vighnas tasya na jāyate ||

…..at the start of study, getting married, entering or leaving any place, in war or difficulty, will overcome all obstacles.
