my hot take for today, rwby gets better when you realise that blake definitely did have a crush on sun in the early days but didn’t follow up on it because she realised post-fall that her feelings were stronger for yang and that sun just wasn’t the one.

1) it makes all the eclipse moments in early volumes not feel like they’re shitting on bumbleby (the eventual canon couple)

2) it highlights that yes, blake is indeed bi

3) it tells a very realistic story of how some crushes just aren’t meant to be

do i still think blake had a bit of a crush on yang at beacon? absolutely. do i still think yang fell first and was so head over heels for blake at beacon? absolutely! blake seriously has a type, and sun and yang are both that type.

the difference comes in how they treat her. sun may be fun and flirty, but he’s also senseless and pushes blake out of her comfort zones far too often without realizing why she doesn’t appreciate it. yang on the other hand is patient with her, invites her into her life to have fun without pushing her way in and trampling all over her boundaries.

and that’s what’s fun about sun and yang being so similar !! like, not only does blake have a type, but it shows the variance in that type and what she needs in a relationship. it’s a great narrative !!

and it works extra well when you consider that sun doesn’t get jealous and actively encourages blake to go on her own way (subtext: to get her girl), because then it makes him somewhat of a narrative foil to ilia, who was jealous of adam and let that jealousy fester, as opposed to sun, who let go of those conflicting feelings to let blake — who he undoubtedly loves — be herself and do what she wants. (it’s also why i really love the dynamic of sun and ilia, himbo and lesbian duo getting over the girl they loved)

long story short, eclipse isn’t bad but it also wasn’t meant to be and that’s okay. better, even, for the story they wanted to tell for blake.

The good news coming out of the RT live stream is such a relief. While nothing is carved in stone yet, it's the best news we've had since all of this started.

I never gave up on RWBY and CRWBY and I never will.

I’m getting real tired of people saying that Yang doesn’t care about Ruby and vice versa. They’re literally the only real family they have. Just because they’re learning to live their own lives doesn’t mean that they’re going to stop spending time together and being one of the most important people in each other’s lives.

Look at how devastated Yang was in V9 and tell me she doesn't love her little sister more than anything in the world.

But if Yang isn't allowed to have her own life (and Ruby as well) that love could easily turn to resentment.

They have to be able to have their own goals, their own relationships because it's normal and healthy for that to happen.

Ruby is pushing 18 and Yang is around 20, they're growing up

Conversations are going VERY well with MULTIPLE potential partners AND with the CRWBY members being retained/brought back!!!!!! I swear if they're available I stand by what I said before in Arryn Trouche deserving to come back, after they're championing v9. They can't/won't mention WHO but just that there's multiple potential partners.

They also frame this as talks having gone one more step forward from before, so progress being made with more news coming down the line.

Also once again if this does get RWBY a new home (or really even if it doesn't), everybody including fucking piece of shit rw/de need to put some damn respect on Kerry's name for fighting for it so damn hard.

I feel like there's this weird dichotomy in the way trans people are viewed even by other trans people where top surgery (at least growth from e but sometimes even that isn't "Enough") is necessary to Count as Trans but don't you dare get bottom surgery you'll be a Freak . This isn't even like specifically ftm or mtf or anything like If ur transfemme you need to have tits and if ur transmasc you have to get your tits taken off or you're "not trying hard enough to be perceived as that gender" but if you get bottom surgery you get no representation even within the trans community and you'll be told horrible things abt ur neogenitals constantly even by other trans people. Even other trans people who mean well will say shit like "oh I'd only get bottom surgery if they came up w a technique that looks more realistic" Ike what rhe fuck no I promise u the results are very much Real Genitals anyway it fucking sucks i love u girls without tits I love u boys with tits I love u neopussy I love u phalloplasty and metoidioplasty dicks.

Why do people have the worst possible v9 takes sometimes?????

Maybe it’s just that Ruby’s story in v9 is the most I’ve ever been seen with my personal mental health issues, but it really bothers me when people act like it’s all the teams fault and they didn’t do enough for her. It’s also just a terrible way to look at mental health issues in general

Volume 1: A bunch of teenagers go to trade school, learn the benefits of friendship and actually taking the prerequisite courses.

Volume 2: A bunch of teenagers go on an unsupervised and a supervised field trip. Surprisingly, the supervised one goes worse.

Volume 3: Intercollege tournament goes badly wrong when a series of injuries leads to an exchange student finding another college's equipment in the basement, an infestation, equipment malfunctions and unwanted guests. The college closes as a result.

Volume 4: Worst Roadtrip Ever, featuring manmade natural disasters, that one guy who knows you but you don't know them, that horse that traumatized your friends when they were kids, your drunk uncle passing out and you having to carry him to the hospital, and half the group starting the trip later and promising to catch up.

Volume 5: Everyone's waiting for school to start, but before it can, the worst parent-teacher conference of all time happens.

Volume 6: Worst Roadtrip Ever 2, featuring a small town so empty it's depressing, bumping into your ex's mom, adopting a grandmother, breaking your ex's heart with your gf, and just the worst airport security lady of all time.

Volume 7: The students finally graduate and enter the working world, but it turns out their boss is a control freak with terrible ideas, so after a season of trying to make him see reason, the students are fired. However, they take the IT girl with them, who the boss needs to get his project off the ground.

Volume 8: With the help of the IT girl, our heroes restore internet access for about five minutes. With the help of an exchange student and her father figure, our heroes manage to get the youngest of them away from his ex. One of our heroes suspects her mom might be a furry. Unable to access medical help, our heroes seek a cure from a naked man. Due to a walkway's lack of railings, half our heroes take a tumble. Newly sober uncle makes friends with a socialist lesbian in a holding cell.

I wish cis people understood just how...draining it is to be transgender. Like even if nothing bad happens to you specifically there's this constant hate surrounding trans people like background radiation but it's not harmless, it's a perpetual drain on your emotions, your will, your happiness.

Even if you take all the steps to distance yourself from the hate, like curating your online presence, you still see it, hear it. It's completely unavoidable.

When you are enemy #1 for major political parties it's hard not to notice, especially when you have almost no political power yourself and, my god, I can't even imagine what trans kids are dealing with. It's so much more difficult for them.

I wish I had some kind of answer but in the end it isn't up to me or any other trans person. We don't have the numbers to change hearts and minds.

I don't want it to sound like I regret anything because as bad as things are, I promise you, pretending to be something you're not is even more of a drain on your emotions and will to go on. I just wish it was easier to just...exist without people demanding I justify my existence to them.
