I still think there’s something really interesting in Survive’s choice to distinguish what is Moral from what is Harmonious. Somethingn I think I’ve said 70 times by now- but it’s geniunely really interesting that the seemingly moral choice to go back (save the world) is assigned to Harmony, and the seemingly Harmonious choice (save your friends) is Moral.

But it makes sense in context. Takuma in Harmony goes back because he is Also a Apart of the world. It’s recognizing that he is also apart of the group. While Moral is about his Responsibility to save his friends and how it’s important he does so because it’s what’s Right. He’s even the most sure of his decision in Moral.

(One day I should talk about how much I enjoy Takuma’s legetimatly well-done characterization…)

And when we go to Plutomon, bastion of Harmony. She’s uh- horrid, forceful assimilation is bad actually, very “we are the borg” in a sense. Uniting everyone…THROUGH FORCE! Due to not agreeing on everything. The little distinctions there. Individual thoughts and opinions aren’t permitted because there is only One True and Right Way to exist (Aoi’s) and anyone who disagrees is a threat to everyone’s harmonious existance.

Harmony isn’t Moral because being Moral doesn’t necessarily mean being Harmonious with everyone. The paradox of tolarance, the forceful assimilation of everyone with Plutomon, the failing of characters like Kaito and Miu in Harmony.

I feel like Wrathful is about the faults of Harmony and Harmony is about the faults of Wrathful which I think is neat. Digimon Survive is such a good game-

11. First thing I think about with her

Sometimes, when I'm writing or doing improv, I try to summon the sense-memory of what I call the "misery vortex". The misery vortex is what my therapist and I started calling the traumatic period of time from when I was 5 years old until when I was 11ish years old.

When I think of Juri, I think about the misery vortex.

20. A weird headcanon

I always thought Juri would actually keep playing the Digimon card game after the series ends. She'd ask Ruki for help, but Ruki wouldn't really play that much, and Juri would ultimately end up with a modestly successful career as a semi-pro player.

First impression

I was a Ruki enjoyer from episode 1. I thought she was cool as hell, and I was excited to see where her character went. I especially liked how she was clearly much wiser than Takato while also being amoral. That's not really a character we saw at all in Adventure, so she was instantly fresh and appealing to me.

2. When I think I truly started to like them

Like I said, pretty much right away, though obviously there was a deeper appreciation for her inner world that came with time. The episode where she was kidnapped by Dokugamon and the Icedevimon episode were both big highlights.

I always thought Ruki kind of hated the original V-pet toys in the same way a lot of competitive players of like, Pokemon or Yugioh hate the casual aspect of the franchise. If you know, you know. See also Smash players hating items, speedrunners not caring about lore, etc

Obviously Kaito isn't a star student like Aoi or Shuuji, but do you think he takes studying seriously? I want to say no, but I could see him wanting to set a good example for Miu.

He always struck me as someone who's just smart enough to get by on test scores without doing the work and hates school enough not to try. He's doing the bare minimum to pass. Idek if he would care about entrance exams lmao.

Like he's not dumb or even lazy, I just don't see school being a priority for him. Feels more like someone who'd get a job ASAP and be annoyed about school getting in the way of work.

But I think IF Miu started doing badly in school, he'd be forced to put in effort, because he knows there's no way she'll listen to him if he tells her to try harder while not trying himself.
