hello friends. i wanted to apologize for going radio silent again.

we just found out that my mother has severe pancreatitis and stage three liver failure. it’s very disheartening because that’s what my stepfather died of. there’s essentially no hope of her getting a transplant. it’s been a difficult time for my family and i have not been taking it well. alcoholism is a hell of a disease. i hope to come back on here soon. i miss writing. love you guys!

his question catches her off guard, at first. did finnick love her? she wasn't confident about a lot of things. yet alone her current sanity. but if there was one thing she was sure about, it was that finnick had loved her.

❝ he loved me. ❞ she murmured, her eyes stinging as she slumped against the wall. annie didn't even know if her love was still alive, at this point. or what was happening on the outside. all she had come to know the past few weeks was the sound of her friend's screams. how to retreat into herself so she didn't feel what these monsters were doing to them. ❝ he still loves me.❞

if she stayed hopeful, maybe she could get through this. no—they were going to get through this. her, johanna, and peeta. ❝ we're going to get through this, peeta. ❞

HEAD PRESSED BACK AGAINST THE WALL THAT SEPERATES THEM , Peeta closes his eyes and breathes out slowly. He wishes he could be more confident in his answer. He wants to say yes , but he doesn't know.

❝ Did Finnick love you ? ❞ he answers instead , because if he doesn't know what is real in the here and now , they must focus on what was real in the time before now.

He thinks of Katniss telling him about Finnick running through the jungle screaming Annie's name , that memory was real ; he's sure of it. He can remember the screams of the jabberjays , too familiar to the screams he heard from Johanna only a short while ago , before they took her away.

She rubs her hands over her face. "I know you are. And I appreciate it, in my own way. You know I suck at this shit. I forgot how to care about people."
