Less than 5 minutes from the Trevi Fountain and a few steps from the Mausoleum of Augustus and the Spanish Steps, the newest Bulgari Hotel opened on June 9, in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, in the center of Rome. It is the ninth unit of the renowned jewelry and accessories brand's hotel chain and the second in the "Eternal City", as the Italian capital is known (and which also houses the brand's headquarters). The building, signed by the architect Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, was built between 1936 and 1938 and inaugurated in 1950, represents an important example of rationalist architecture. The work on the new hotel is signed by ACPV ARCHITECTS by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, one of the most renowned architecture firms in Italy, responsible for the interior design projects for the entire Bulgari hotel chain.   "Our objective was to recreate the beauty and sophistication, as well as the elegance and refined craft techniques of the Emperor Augustus. architect Patricia Viel, CEO of ACPV ARCHITECTS. The result is proven in the harmony between the aesthetic rigor of the materials - such as natural stone from the Roman Empire - and the essential architectural style of the building through the use of textures.   Four chromatic palettes were chosen to decorate the suites: white, yellow, red and green. In the bathrooms, marble and quartzite in different colors, many of which were selected from around the world, such as yellow marble from Iran, red "red jasper" marble from Sudan, green quartzite and white quartzite Taj Mahal from Brazil.   The same tones are repeated in the choice of fabrics and accessories and furniture, all supplied by Italian companies: sofas and beds by B&B Italia and Maxalto, silk carpets by Altai, marble tables by Mangiarotti, by Agapecasa, and lighting pieces by Flos and FontanaArte. For the first time, the iconic Arco Flos lamp, by Achille Castiglioni, from 1962, had its original base in Carrara marble altered, being replaced by the same natural stones used to finish the bathrooms, all with the blessing of the designer's foundation. The hotel has 114 rooms plus a suite measuring 300 m², including a kitchen, and overlooking the Mausoleum of Augustus. A wide range of services are also available to guests, including a 1,500 square meter spa that evokes the atmosphere of ancient Roman baths, with marble columns, stained glass and a 20 meter indoor swimming pool, with mosaics inspired by the famous Baths of Caracalla. , the second largest public bath complex in ancient Rome.   The new Bulgari also offers a reading room and library equipped with a collection of precious volumes of art, design, history and Roman architecture that will be open not only to guests but also to the general public, by appointment. "We want the hotel to become a focus of innovation, a laboratory of creativity, an atelier for new services and projects", says Silvio Ursini, executive vice-president of Bulgari and head of the Hotels and Resorts division. “Here we interpret the territory, exalt the local culture and celebrate the Italian and Roman art of living, in what is the eternal city".   On the fifth floor, a spectacular terrace houses the Niko Romito restaurant and the Bulgari Bar. The first has a menu that exalts contemporary Italian cuisine, created exclusively by the star chef for the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts chain. An elegant and luxurious environment with mahogany walls and an exclusive private room (for more than 12 people), entirely decorated in silk tapestry. The bar, meanwhile, is characterized by a large black marble counter decorated with iconic Murano glass elements that reflect light. On the ground floor there is the first "Bulgari Dolci" boutique-confectionery shop, which offers an exclusive selection of chocolates and traditional Italian sweets, always prepared by the multi-starred Italian chef Niko Romito.

Studio MAKHNO presented a new project — a building-museum of Ukrainian art and ceramics. The aim is to demonstrate the depth and evolution of Ukrainian culture through a combination of architecture, design, traditions, crafts and nature. The museum is planned to be built in the Kyiv region. The project is aimed at the revival of pottery traditions and the popularization of modern Ukrainian art. "There are great conceptual galleries, curators, art dealers, artists and artists in Ukraine, but there is still no museum of modern Ukrainian art. I have been researching our culture for more than twenty years, I admire its depth, authenticity and universality at the same time. And today, I believe, the time has come for its systematic popularization, both within the country and abroad. We want to show that Ukrainian culture not only has thousands of years of history, but is also developing and transforming right now," says the founder of the studio, Serhii Makhno. The area of the future museum is 800 square meters. The museum building itself is a huge art object, artistically designed and designed to fascinate. A landscape garden unfolds near it and exclusive art objects are located. From a distance, the majestic concrete building of the museum stands out like a monolith from the surrounding landscape. As visitors approach, they are greeted by the striking contrast of the building's black facade. Today, the museum's collection is the widest selection of ceramic art in Ukraine. The museum emphasizes the revival of pottery traditions as an authentic Ukrainian art and craft. A prominent place in the exposition is occupied by the works of the master of ceramics and drawing Serhiy Radek. The building of the Museum House was inspired by Ukrainian history, culture and ancient traditions of our family. It's the perfect clean background for artwork. During the design process, we faced the problem of how to place about 3,000 ceramic products, paintings, sculptures, photographs and drawings on 800 square meters of space. A house-museum is an ambitious goal, a place where everyone can experience Ukraine's unique contribution to world culture, feel their identity, and feel at home. We invite all connoisseurs of Ukrainian art to join the project. Makhno Art Foundation has created options for interaction and contributions, currently this is a unique chance to become a Resident and Co-author of the first House-Museum of Contemporary Art and Ceramics, to open its doors with your own hands in the near future.

Fendi has transformed six historic rooms of the famous Villa Medici. The Italian fashion brand has teamed up with the French Academy in Rome to give 16th-century interiors a new sound. Set amidst gardens in the heart of the city, this renaissance palace has been given a makeover: the creators hope this decor will encourage creativity and  draw even more attention to modern design. This partnership, conceived by Kim Jones, Fendi Art Director Fashion & Womenswear, and Silvia Venturini Fendi, Accessory & Menswear Art Director, highlights the deep connection between contemporary design and historical heritage. There are many stylistic layers here. The villa is known for its unusual architectural and decorative solutions, from   Renaissance until the middle of the last century, when Balthus was responsible for the development of art programs, and later, in the 2000s, designer Richard Peduzzi. Now, as part of the project, the academy has turned to French architect Pierre-Antoine Gatier to restore some of the decorations of the Grand Salon, while the conservation company Bobin Tradition has carried out conservation work on the surviving wall paintings and coverings of the building. The original tones of the mural became the starting point for choosing a palette for each room. The decor used the work of Italian Chiara Andreatti, French designers Noé Duchaufour-Laurence, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, as well as Toan Nguyen. Drawing inspiration from forms typical of Rome, Noët Duchaufour-Laurence created the Borghese table in the Pensionnaires salon: the outlines of umbrella pines are guessed in it. He also made tables for the Salon de Lecture and Bleu, inspired by the paving of the Appian Way. Chiara Andreatti's Virgola chairs are featured in Salon Bleu and Salon de Lecture, while her Welcome sofa and armchairs for Fendi Casa grace the Salon des Pensionnaires. Fendi and Mobilier National also featured tapestries from renowned artists including Louise Bourgeois, Sheila Hicks and Sonia Delaunay. Devialet acoustic panels have been hidden behind some artwork to improve the sound quality inside the villa.

It would seem that you have eaten yogurt, but then what? The answer to this question was found in the creative agency Bickerstaff.239. They launched a new advertising campaign, the main goal of which is to show how strong and united Ukrainians are, and how beautiful Ukraine is. With a camera obscura made from a yogurt jar, they took a series of photos for the Carpathian yogurt "Halychyna", and the photos were placed on banners all over Kyiv. The camera obscura is the prototype of the world's first camera. It was mostly used to observe and create realistic drawings, when artists needed to transfer complex proportions, perspective and shadows from the real world to the canvas. Modern cameras and cameras are also based on the principles of operation of the pinhole camera. Previously, such cameras were made from a box or box, once even whole rooms were used, and now a creative agency decided to use yogurt jars. "When we thought about the visuals for this campaign, we were guided by the idea of showing the world through the eyes of yogurt. Our manager's boyfriend became the head of development. We had a total of 5 versions of the camera. Every time you do something you've never done before, it's scary. But we were terribly interested in what would come of it," says Bickerstaff.239. Creating one camera took about 3-4 hours, but the final result depended on a lot of factors. Some failures could be explained and corrected, and some became a mystery for both organizers and photo experts. For example, one color film turned out to be white and green. There were many theories as to why this happened, but none of them were confirmed. "You know, nobody noticed before that Karpatsky can see. Because few people even thought about how yogurt looks at the world. And it turned out that since February 24, he saw everything: how we change, unite, make the impossible possible and win. Ukrainians took him everywhere. Therefore, Karpatsky had nothing left but to "spy" on them and admire their courage and excellence wherever they were," added Bickerstaff.239.

The sets will be created by a neural network and published in a fixed edition. Craig Ward is a designer and creative director based in New York City. In addition to artwork and texts, he creates fonts. He believes that the abundance of headsets, including free ones, has led to the fact that it has become very easy to find the right or similar set. This means that copyright in this area is poorly protected. “NFTy.pe is really changing that,” says Ward. NFTy.pe Image: Craig Ward Its NFTy.pe platform generates unique modular fonts. Ward states that no two sets of characters are the same in the result. And thanks to smart contracts and built-in metadata, ownership can be quickly and easily verified. Because each NFTy.pe font can only have one owner, designers can sell their typefaces directly to the client. The kits will be available for one month in a fixed edition of 1,000 copies, after which they will be available only on the secondary market. NFTy.pe Image: Craig Ward Last year, Ward oversaw the rebranding of Zoom, when the idea came to him to create a neural network to generate modular fonts. “Obviously, this was important for a company that has a presence in many countries and whose product requires support for many scripts,” says Craig. “Developing fonts like this can take years, and we only had a few months.” He turned to the Glyphs development team to bring the idea to life. NFTy.pe Image: Craig Ward As Craig points out, according to the 2019 Monotype Buying Habits Survey, 42% of purchased fonts are never used and there is no way for designers to recoup those costs. “They collect digital dust in folders on your hard drive. If you don't need NFTypeface, you can resell it on the secondary market, so I hope this will make it easier to decide whether to shell out for this or that new font." NFTy.pe Image: Craig Ward

Three months ago, a team of Ukrainian creatives launched the "Common Heritage" crowdfunding project. His goal is to buy things with a history to give them to the museum and save them from oblivion. In collaboration with the illustrator Anastasia Rudyk, "Common Heritage" launches a poster for sale, inspired by one of the first purchases of the project - the collection of things of Hanna Mykhailivna Baranetskaya, the daughter of a Ukrainian Sich rifleman. Hanna was born in the village of Strygantsi, Ivano-Frankivsk region, in 1926, and at a young age found herself in exile in the Irkutsk region. In 1947, she embroidered a picture depicting her native village and adding the inscription: "I am reminded of my native home, where my dear family lives, where I also spent my young summers." Together with Hanna, Olena Kovalyuk from the city of Kosiv, whose name was Oksana, was exiled. She gave Hanna two albums of drawings that she also created in exile. The cover of one of the albums and motifs from the embroidered picture became the basis of the poster, which can be bought on the "Common Heritage" page on Instagram. All profits will be used to purchase ancient folk objects for Ivan Honchar's museum. Alina Bozhniuk and Anna Kascheyeva, co-founders of "Common Heritage", say: "Stories like this one should live. The creativity of Ukrainians who passed through Soviet camps and exile is a vivid testimony of what this "friendship of peoples" really was, and how love for one's own home, one in the whole world, supported even in the darkest times. Thanks to museums, we can preserve these stories so that they become an inspiration for creating new meanings and new works." Illustrator Anastasia Rudyk adds: "By studying the past, we can better understand and identify ourselves in the present. This initiative is of great importance for the preservation of cultural heritage. The current war proves once again that it is important to remember and protect our common history."

On the eve of the Cannes Film Festival, within the framework of the Cannes Next Marché du Film, there was a presentation of the Ukrainian project “MURALS”, created by Ukrainian 3D artist Artem Ivanenko and American directors Alex Tapoller and Deniel Shapiro with co-producers from Ukraine їni, Poland, Spain and the USA. The metaphor of a favorable art project is to present to the viewers the traces of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and show the reality, as it was seen in the timely paid off places and settlements. Surrounding the unique style of the exposition, the authors focused on the conservation of the Ukrainian recession. "MURALS" is a virtual documentary exposition, as a way of further detailing 3D models of civilized buildings and buildings in the Kiev region, as they suffered during the hour of occupation by Russian troops and scanning of murals in home of the artist Banksy. Combination of innovative technologies 3D scanning and Unreal Engine with sound and light effects zanuryuє peeping in Ukraine, zamushuє їkh vіdchuit їkh emotsії ukraintsіv, scho bringing them closer to the problems of war. The initiator and hero of the project was Artem Ivanenko, art director of the Ukrainian company Mriya Production, 3D artist and specialist in 3D scanning from Irpen. Vіn buv evacuations from the place on the cob of occupation that turned at the end of 2022 to the fate of the warehouse of the initiative group to bury that remembrance of the lost house. At the same time, Artem began to collect evidence and materials of military atrocities, which became the basis for the MURALS project and the Vijni Museum. Oskolki such models are 100% copies of real objects, they can be victorious as evidence in criminal rights, historical projects, illumination, media and cinema. “We have created a project for demonstrating the spiritual spirit, that the heroism of our people can be of an exceedingly great price. An invisible part of the exposition was the work of the artist Benksi. The skin of them reveals a small history of podia, as if they were in the place of a ruined house, plunged into tragedy, as if they were tied up with this misfortune, it shows that in the time of ruin, bіl і the tragedy of life a new rose well ruins,” Artem comments. The American directors Alex Tapoller and Daniel Shapiro, the winners of the “Gremmie” award and the founders of the New York production company Aggressive, which is based in the field of design, reached the project. Yakaboo Publishing is presenting a documentary comic “Blackout: Chronicles of our life at the hour of the war of Russia against Ukraine”, creations by Ukrainian illustrators - co-founders of the Kiev visual studio Seri/Count. The illustrations vividly and figuratively tell about the last winter, if after a massive missile attack by Russia, millions of Ukrainians were left without light before the coming winter. Doctors had to carry out operations without light, power engineers - without interruption to work transformers and restore measures, practitioners of the National Botanical Garden - ryatuvaty rіdkіsnі roslini, which froze through lack of heat. This malopis is a kind of photo album of blackout hours. All the undertones about small, but heroic twists, the authors became evidence of them, and they demonstrate the strength and resilience of Ukrainians. “This book documents the process of creating these books in the minds of the winter of 2023. Little about those, as if we were sitting in the corridor for an hour of worries, and we discussed whether it would be better to include in the book that way, to go from one to the other. Little about those, as we speak with the editorial office, we move to the other side. About those who are connected with relatives and friends, who are experiencing a blackout in other places and villages. We’re sticking with new sounds at the bottom and we’re experiencing massive rocket fire near the corridor,” Anya Ivanenko and Zhenya Polosina tell. In this book, the leather detail is thought out: if you cut the black fabric lining, from the pasted card, which imitates the polaroid sign, the yellow endpaper “looks light”, what is it. So the very thing is extinguished, if you close the book in the beginning from the sights, that having drunk from the five lighted up the story of someone else. The book "Blackout" was translated into Ukrainian and English languages. The official presentation will be held on May 30 at 18.30 in Urban Space 500. The authors of the book, Anya Ivanenko and Zhenya Polosina, at the presentation will talk about the creative process, which will help them to convey the atmosphere of war and life without electricity to my painting. At the hour of sunset, you will be able to take an autograph from the authors and bring a sample of graphic history. Previously, Anya Ivanenko and Zhenya Polosina already gained popularity with their robots “Reactors do not vibrate. A short history of the Chornobyl catastrophe”, “At the place where I am” and “Kotik, Pivnik, Shafka”. The works of Ani Ivanenko and Zhenya Polosina were published in The New Yorker, Deutsche Welle, New Statesman, Financial Times.

Luca Nichetto designed the new Venetian boutique Barovier & toso. It is located on the most famous street of fashion and luxury shopping, Calle Larga XXII Marzo, a few steps from Piazza San Marco. In this small space, Niketto made an impressive installation - bright green Murano glass flowers are visible from a block away. The boutique has become a precious showcase where the historical heritage of one of the oldest factories in the world, founded in 1295, is cleverly played up. In contrast to the multi-storey Palazzo Barovier & Toso, created in Murano a few years ago, the emphasis here is on a compact display installation, rather than interior decoration. The Flower&Flutter composition looks like a spring meadow - standard chandelier parts, which craftsmen have been making in Murano workshops for centuries, have been attached to metal rods. This approach aimed to change the point of view, to turn elements that are usually overhead so that they can be examined in detail. The color was chosen from the existing palette of the factory - the main requirement was its versatility and brightness. Luca Nichetto talks about the choice of materials: “The architecture of the boutique is based on the repetition of the beamed ceiling motif typical of Venice. All niches where vases and sconces were placed are arranged as a continuation of these beams, but only on the walls. These arches give a sense of depth. Travertine was used to emphasize the historical significance of the factory. The combination of materials is a harmonious combination of Venetian terrazzo, finished in soft colors on one side and modern smoothed concrete on the other side. “Our installation is a metaphor for the art of glasswork and the brand's corporate identity. Our goal was to convey that, like plants growing from soil, glass objects sprout from fertile quartz soil - in this case, we used a layer of crushed glass. At the top, we added glass butterflies and other decorative elements to celebrate the intricate craftsmanship of traditional Venetian chandeliers. The monochrome palette emphasizes the materiality of the glass. The boutique is conceived as a jewel,” Nichetto says.
