Degree Project Evaluation
In this evaluation I will be discussing my journey of completing this degree project, everything from the positives of the project to the negatives that struck me to the moments of motivation.  
 What went well during this project:
There are many things that I could say went well during the project, mainly managing to code, design and execute this entire project by myself without any help and having a final delivery that works sounded dream-like to me when first pitching this idea. After I submitted I felt that I had bitten off more than I can chew and kept telling myself that I will not complete this project.  So, after all that, me managing to submit a game is a big success for me. I am proud that the game works with no bugs (at least non that I know off) and can be played and enjoyed by an audience. I think creating the mechanics of the game such as combat, damaged, collecting potions and puzzles all made the game come together as it presents the player with more options when playing the game. This is the first time that implement any of these features in any game so having them merely exist is classified as a success in my eyes. Another element that I hope I implemented well is the story element of the game. I thought having a guiding voice over will make the game seem more immersive which I believe was the case. The Voice over artist that I found on Fiverr Michael Haj, did a great job in performing the different voices within the story. He performed the voices of Edwin, Medieval narrator and NPCS.  In my opinion the audio creates an immersive experience for the player.
 What went wrong:
Although there were many things that well wrong there are many things that did not go well in my opinion. The first is I still think I bit off more than I can chew. The game had too many moving parts to it which will make it very difficult for one person to pull it off by themselves. I had to wear different hats during the game and do many things that either I have little to no experience in or had no skill in such as C++ coding. Having never coded in C++ I felt that I was impossible to do everything. Yet still I managed to get the game submitted and it works. I would say picking to do a complex game in a time like this during covid and lockdown was not the best idea as I virtually had no technical help in the project. None of the lectures know how to use UE4 and even if I had picked Unity, the lack of face-to-face teaching just made things harder regardless. At certain times I regretted picking the project which defiantly is not the best mindset to have during the project. I also faced a lot of technical difficulties with the software. A few weeks ago, I was coding a part of the game and I do not know what I did but a massive portion of the game stopped working. To make matters worse, a lot of the main functionality broke such as the characters’ ability to move or the characters’ ability to create or cause damage. This stressed me out so much as I spent an entire week trying to fix it and then in the end I had to get an older version of the project and just add all the elements that were missing it to. This also broke me. Another issue that I had was with the exporting the game. On Saturday 08/05, I thought to myself I have finished the game, let me do a test export. The game would not export. There was a bug, and I could not export the game out. I spent 7 hours trying to figure out what the issue was and could not. In the end I took my drive and plugged it into another computer and somehow it exported. The problems did not stop there. The game took 8 hours to export. After the export I found that the game was 24gb. I had to then compress it which took an hour and then upload it to google drive which took another 3 hours. So overall it took a full day to just export and upload the project which made it extremely difficult to make changes to the game afterwards.
 Final thoughts:
Overall I think this project taught me a lot, regardless of all the pain that I went through when making this game.

 The two neighbouring nations of Gantrick and Fendera have fought over this Is abandoned Island for years.
They called it no step land.
Years of Bloodshed, Feuds and differences have caused the two nations to be divided, however 100 years ago king Gerlad V of Gantrick has declared a vow renouncing war and since that vow the two nations have been in a truce and piece spread between the nations.
However, the king received a rumour that the Fendera kingdom want to start a war since they thought that Gantrick is trying to take over no mans land. Your job sends this message from Gantrick to Fendera and get this message across to them.
On your Journey you will also need to collect three keys. These keys represent the Fendera kingdom. Key 1: Red Key. Represents the wrath and blood shed that Fendera kingdom has been involved in the last century. Key 2: Blue Key. The second key represents royalty and self-entitlement which are part of the Fenedran ethos. Key 3: The third key represents power and prestige that the Fenderan kingdom has been famous for many years.

  Rotating Door Puzzle:
“Welcome to The Rotating handle puzzle. To leave this maze you need to solve this puzzle.
Press E to Engage with the puzzle. Use the left and Right arrows to move between the different handles. Press Enter to spin the handle. You have to find the right combination in order to crack the puzzle. Once the puzzle is solved the doors will open and you will hear this sound. Press E to leave puzzle before its destroyed.”
  Maze:
“The Fendera kingdom is full of mazes. They use the mazes as a means to trick and trap enemies to make defeating them easier. Navigate your way around the maze in order to exit. Beware, there are many enemies in there.”
Enemy:
“Worms: The first enemy in your way are these worms. They shoot deadly acid balls from far. If they hit you your health will go down. There are three types of worms:
Small worms: They die in 2 hits and your HP goes down by 2 every time they hit you.
Medium worms: They die in 3 hits and your HP goes down by 4 every time they hit you. Their attacks are also more frequent.
Big worms: They die in 5 hits and your HP goes down by 7 every time they hit you. Their attacks are much faster.”
 “Spider: The second enemy in your way are these Spider. They will melee attack you from close distances. If they hit you your health will go down.
Small Spider: They die in 2 hits and your HP goes down by 2 every time they hit you.
