Yes- our society is riddled with ableism but people choosing not to put themselves in a position to be physically or verbally abused repeated is not people being ableist. Just because a person has a disability that may cause them to behave badly doesn’t mean others have to subject themselves to their harmful behavior or they are being “ableist”. There is a limit to being understanding and a person with a disability doesn’t have a free fucking pass to be abusive and still have people want to be around them.

If a person with a disability tells you that they hope you and your entire family die in a fire, it isn’t being ableist to make a conscious effort to avoid that person. It is definitely not ableist to not want to be friends with that person especially if this person is known to be verbally abusive like this often.

If someone with a disability punches you in the face because unbeknowst to you, you were standing in their way and didn’t move fast enough, it isn’t ableist to want nothing to do with that person, especially if they have a history of being violent or aggressive at the slightest annoyance.

You can understand that a person may have a disability that effects how they behavior while still choosing not to be around the person because subjecting yourself to their abuse, unintentional or out of their control as it may be, isn’t healthy for you is not ableist- that is called having healthy fucking boundaries.

Stop calling people fucking ableists for not being willing to subject themselves to fucking abuse.

Hi Delta, I am wondering about that one thing in IWGB! I have a really strong feeling that Nico is a victim of sexual abuse, and if I am being correct I wonder if Jason & Percy know about it? Sorry if you already had this kind of question and thank you sm

So sorry that this has been sitting in my inbox for like two weeks- life has been really crazy. But this question is important so I didn't want to ignore it.

Since I know the topic of sexual abuse is extremely triggering for a lot of people I'm going to put a more detailed answer under the Keep Reading. I also want to make it clear that this topic is NEVER openly discussed within I Wanna Get Better.

But the simple answer (if there is one on this topic) is yes, Nico is a victim of sexual abuse within IWGB.

Now, if Nico would see it that way is a different story, and he would HATE to be referred to as a victim. But he was manipulated into participating in a sexual relationship with a much older man as a young teenager which is ABSOLUTELY sexual abuse.

Percy knows some burly details just because his was sort of in Nico's life (at a distance) when it happened- but he didn't actually know what was happening while it was happening. Percy only figured out what he does know after the fact by putting together information he already had. Nico does not talk about it, with pretty much anybody, so what Jason knows he only knows through Percy, and Percy hasn't told Jason everything he has figured out or speculated about the situation because some of it feels to personal even to Percy.

There are a few hints along the way in IWGB but like I said it is never directly discussed within IWGB.

Also, since it isn't directly discussed in the story, what happened to Nico's abuser also isn't within the story but my brain knows so I might as well share- When Hades finds out he has the man killed without Nico knowing about it.
