lucy dacus was so right when she said "i can't hide from you like i hide from myself" we're always talking about the "mortifying ordeal of being known" and that"nobody will ever know myself in all its entirety" etc etc but we never consider that other people might have a better picture of who we are than we do. that our view of ourselves is distorted by shame and disgust but the people that love us view us with emotion that is so raw and pure that it cannot be fake. that we reveal the things we try to conceal from the world (and from ourselves!) to those we love as an act of unconcious vulnerability. who other people think we are IS a part of who we are, no matter how frightening it can be, and sometimes they reveal more about you than you ever thought they could.

I wish we had more female characters like Eleanor Shellstrop. One of the most unlikable people you've ever met. Read a Buzzfeed article on most rude things you can do on a daily basis and decided to use that as a list of goals. Makes everyone's day worse just by being there. Dropped a margarita mix on the ground and tried to pick it up, only to get hit by a row of shopping carts which pushed her into the road where she was hit by a boner pill delivery truck, killing her instantly. Cannot keep a romantic partner despite being bisexual. Had a terrible childhood but will die before she gets therapy. Best employee at a scam company. Just the worst but also can't help but root for her to improve.

Absolute loser. Girl-failure. Bad at almost everything. Literally perfect female character.

When Jean-Paul Sartre said ”‘Hell is other people’ is only one side of the coin. The other side, which no one seems to mention, is also ‘Heaven is each other’. Hell is separateness, uncommunicability, self-centeredness, lust for power, for riches, for fame. Heaven on the other hand is very simple, and very hard: caring about your fellow beings.“

what do they put in october and november that makes them the most ungodly mental breakdown psychosis inducing months imaginable. what are they storing in the orange leaves and generally grey drowsy atmosphere

and of course i've been thinking about tragedy and how you can say "there was a way both rose and jack could have survived", "there was a way for achilles to save patroclus and himself from their fate", "there was a way for orpheus and eurydice to both get out of the underworld", "if only they had done this", "if only they had thouht of this" but in the end the people involved are not gods, they are stirred by their emotions and preconceptions and the limits of their knowledge and their fears and ambitions, and in good tragedies i think there's always a way out that is completely plausible and even easy to find but the humanity of the characters drives them to mistakes that ultimately add up to the most heartbreaking conclusion you can imagine. and i think that's beautiful.

Transforms into a werewolf dramatically but the werewolf just turns in a circle and curls up and takes a nap and i wake up in the morning in shredded clothes like "wow. i feel really refreshed actually."
