No skincare tip, in particular, has made a difference on my skin. What has made a difference was leading a healthy life (which includes sticking to a healthy diet) and learning how to choose properly my skincare products.
I am a cosmetic chemist who formulates skin care products for a living, therefore I know what makes good quality skincare (and what doesn't).
The most important thing you should look for is the active ingredients in the formulation. “Active ingredients” are those ingredients that have a proven record of being able to address a particular skin concern, for example, hyaluronic acid or retinol.
The reason we know these ingredients work is that they’re backed by science.
If a product has no active ingredients it’s either a very poor quality one composed mainly of water and glycerin, or a product meant for skin that is already in good condition. You want to avoid buying this type of product, as they likely won't do much for you.
The % of the ingredients in the formulation also matters. Unfortunately, the exact percentages are not written on the packaging, but you need to remember that the ingredients are listed in descending order
While there could be many reasons for hair fall, and line of treatment may vary from case to case, I can vouch for the following remedies that have worked for me brilliantly:
Tumblr media
1) Hair fall could be because of dandruff or worse fungal infection related to dandruff. If it’s simple dandruff, shampoo with a good anti-dandruff shampoo 3–4 times a week.
In the latter case, hair starts getting oily a few hours after shampoo wash and gets a too oily say, after 24 hours. Also, you will notice greasy flakes on the scalp quite often. The first thing, in this case, is to go for very small hair immediately, till this infection is in control. Then one must shampoo with an anti-dandruff shampoo 5–6 times a week. And 2–3 times a month, use medicated shampoo like Nizoral or Selsun. Do this for several months and then slowly start keeping long hair.
Still one will need to shampoo 5–6 times a week from here on. Only medicated shampoo can be reduced to once a month. Note that this fungal infection is hard to go by completely, so you will have to live with it. Use of shampoo 5–6 times a week is a must to keep dandruff from recurring.
2) Hair fall is also mainly due to stress and anxiety, and in fact it manifests itself through dandruff or fungal infection. Take Ashwagandha capsules twice a day. It has worked magically for me. And it needs to be taken for years to maintain stress levels low.
