in another situation, humbert would have likely laughed at those words. 'what have i done to threaten you'? do i reply chronologically or alphabetically? he would have shrugged off any tension with some sarcasm and used his power as an interpol agent to arrest the other. that was already enough to secure him at least one night of jail. but despite the bad choice of words, despite the taller man looking at him like he's a stain accidentally ended on his favourite boots, humbert is not an idiot. he's aware of lysandre's power, and more importantly to be in his territory.

help will arrive in less than an hour. and lysandre has enough power to make him last five minutes.

so he stays silent, he forces his mouth shut despite the other's hand wraps around his neck and clearly tightens, cutting his air just for a second, but suddenly enough for his body to grow extremely tense and for his heart to jump. but he keeps quiet, his eyes staring right into lysandre's, his mind following the movement of his palm on the wound with a sense of tension and agitation.

help will arrive in less than an hour... he's starting to feel he has less than a minute to live, though.

again pressure on his neck. humbert jumps slightly, unable to stop a hand instinctually grabbing the other's wrist, but he still manages to not give in to anxiety. he, instead, slowly starts holding the other's arm just as strongly as he's feeling the pressure on himself. his eyes don't move from lysandre's, as he speaks again. 'you can either work with me, or not', he tells him. 'either way you don't have much of a choice, do you?'

he takes a semi-deep breath, an accomplishment with his neck so constrained.

« ... i believe... that is definitely a threat. »

the free hand, furtive in his pocket, grabs his pen and clicks it open. lighting fast, holding strongly the other's arm to help himself with the hit, he attempts to stab lysandre's wrist with the point of the pen. one of the most improvised attacks he ever made, but hopefully it will bring to something. there is no way he will just bend and obey.

Lysandre didn't find it very humorous, instead he just ignored the picture comment--really, it was if this fool wanted to just be sedated and have it be the end of it. No...he wouldn't rush it so quickly, later. He could tell very quickly that this one was not chosen, that was quite obvious on it's own.

The engineer's hand soon moved from pushing at the 'public official's' chest, to wrapping his fingers around his throat. So briefly threatening suffocation, before shifting his palm to cover the wound on the side of his neck. Such a shame, that was one of the worst parts to be injured.

" once more, i'd advise you don't move too much and do as i say. death is easily received when one has an injury so close to their carotid arteries. "

He didn't bother asking, simply putting a little more pressure on the man's neck, before pulling down his collar to get a better look.

hearing the other man repeating his own words makes humbert realize just how bad his reply choice was. he swallows, with difficulty, as the hand of the engineer rests strong on his chest and pushes him back. he has the strength necessary to resist it, but the detective doesn't use it, letting the forced movement happen and his back rest against the wall. don't make the beast any more dangerous. he already didn't appreciate that 'or else'. stupid choice of words, by the way. very, very stupid.

lysandre's stare is so intense that he could have felt it on himself even with his eyes closed, and it makes him even more tense. he's starting to feel more and more like a fly captured in a glass, hands drawing closer to tear away its wings. another difficult swallow. yet his head stays up, eyes staring back.

« take a picture. it'll last longer. »

easily once again not the best choice of words, but he had dig the sarcastic path with that 'or else' of before. might as well continue. it's the only thing keeping the growing anxiety at bay, and his head somewhat clear enough still to think. of a way out, of clever ways to mess with the other long enough to make a break for it, of how to buy time for any semblance of help to arrive. no devices on him, just an accord, that if he wasn't out in an hour he would have needed immediate help. he can't check the time, but it can't be that long. it can't be.

another tense moments as lysandre's eyes linger on the wound at the side of his neck, half covered by the shirt's collar. the way he keeps looking at him makes him awfully similar to a wild beast ready to attack. « it is my duty to tell you, sir, you are threatening a public official. » humbert replies, perhaps a little too fast, but surprised to hear his own voice so calm and secure. or, an illusion of it, at least. « you could very well be arrested for this. »

Lysandre's eyes narrowed as he stared down at the mind. When he saw Humbert attempt to shift his position, cross his arms and attempt to 'stand his ground' so to say...it was rather idiotic. A foolish attempt and something that, in the end, wouldn't go anywhere. Not for him.

" or else? "

He repeated, before the engineer pushed his palm against Humbert's chest and forced him further back against the wall. There's a low 'hum' as he looked over for any real injuries--or possibilities of them. Not to mention looking for any devices on him--something that could allow the man to contact another individual.

" you wouldn't want to open a wound, would you? "

Lysandre leaned just a little closer, the way he looked towards Humbert bore such a similarity to an entomologist, staring down at a insect they were pinning apart.

" how did this even happen... "

He murmured, if anything this was a lucky happenstance. He had plans to look into a 'friendly collaboration' with certain members of Interpol, or those affiliated with it. Investigators always seemed to be so...worth of their own investigation.

a hand rests on the hunter's shoulder, a gentle squeeze all that shows how the civilian truly is worried about him. humbert shows him a smile, his other hand enveloping the one holding the syringe. despite the cold air, he feels much warmer than lance.

he wonders, for a fraction of a second, if his own blood could be something the hunter could be interested about. is he feeling it running through his veins, healing and regenerative? is he smelling it through the single cut on his arm? would he want some, to get on his feet faster, fight a little longer?

« good hunter, please. i beg you. » his hands pull the other, gentle and slowly, more an invitation to follow him than an actual attempt to move him. « take a rest. you need one... you deserve one. follow me to the church. »

"I can still fight. Just--"

He takes a moment to inject more Blood in his veins, hissing between his teeth.

"Just give me a second."

oh, he is not liking this. he is not liking him. ( starting from the fact that he's so much taller than him. he's not used to people being taller than him. what the hell, get shorter? )

the tone is weirdly cordial ( or perhaps more flat ), sounding vaguely as a friendly offer for help, but humbert can hear pretty well that undertone. no no no. that was an order, if the phrasing wasn't clear enough. an order he doesn't like to hear, but that he's not... really sure he can allow himself to not follow. a quick glance behind him is enough to show him he's pretty much literally with his back against the wall.

he should be standing his ground. probably. he wasn't supposed to be there to begin with. instinctually, he folds his arms on the chest, regretting the thing a moment after ( body language of someone trying to protect himself. bad decision ), but keeping the pose regardless.

take out the coolest reply you can give, humbert. one that will make you sound like a badass knowing exactly what he's doing. « ... or else? » oh, that was an awful reply.
