Honestly, the more I watch episodes from seasons 4-11, in particular episodes from season 8 onward, the harder it is for me to watch them because of the way Klinger is treated. It isn’t just the overt racism in episodes like “Goodbye, Cruel World” and “Your Retention Please.” It’s the constant microaggressions about the size of his nose or his Lebanese heritage or his less than perfect grip on the English language (he speaks Arabic, and his mother doesn’t speak English, so it’s perfectly possible that he learned English as a second language). Plus there’s the random, completely unexplained personality shift shift as Klinger becomes a money grubber who will gladly grovel at the feet of people who clearly dislike him (often for his race) for the sake of making a quick buck. It’s just unconscionable that the showrunners did that to him.
