Accessorizing your bag…with another bag? Yes please. Coin pouches and obsolete excessive accessories are just the perfect combo of camp meets up-cycling. There’s something so much better about the art of unapologetic self-expression.

Shedding:
The awkward phase, sometimes in between seasons and/or before big life changes, where none of your clothes fit quite right and a new and different you is branching out to different styles and interests. This is a good thing.

The Revival of The Brooch
In the rise of uncertainty in the wake of a recession, our instinctual desire for stability and life has fostered the beginning of a new (to us) trend, or more a revival of a staple accessory that could be here to stay; The brooch is the latest shapeshift of an old friend, perhaps the charm bracelet in her mature era? With versatile and endless designs and materials to choose from, wearable like jewelry or on your favourite seasonal accessories, the brooch is the perfect piece to encompass your personal aesthetic in a bold statement, or a small accent complementary to other elements of your outfit. As we are entering a new age in fashion of personalisation and conglomerate style, we are inclined to invest meaning in pieces that reassure our sense of self as a reflection of our desire for stability and emotional satisfaction. Personally, I've found myself investing, not only money but also time in researching both online and irl thrifting, in pieces that are significantly higher quality and simple but elevated basics; perhaps economic contraints and what feels like a shortage of free time to enjoy the non-materialistic aspects of life has brought light to the ideology of minimalism as a form of escapism from the chaos of reality. The simplicity and focus on high quality are what stand out to me and my interpretation in a minimalist approach to fashion, and alongside the influence of personalised style, brooches seem to be the perfect way to express yourself and personalise any outfit and/or accessory while being an investment in simplicity and quality. I see brooches becoming a timeless piece through their revival, especially because of their versatility and the endless options for their designs, and with designers scouring the archives for innovation, we've already begun to see brooches on the runways in all shapes and sizes; it's only a matter of time before your Birkin is covered in them. -A
