Jag: Vänta vem fan är med nästa vecka?

Mamma: Eeeh jadu, Gunilla Persson tror jag?

Jag: Ah justja, det är ju två drag queens iår-

Mamma: Va?? Hon är ingen drag queen, hon är bara dum i huvet.

Jag: ... Vänta va. Vem fan tänker jag på då??

just noticed I'm booked on a job with one of the new guys (who is older than me but new in this role) and I suddenly realised I am the more experienced one and am no longer "the new guy"

also reminded me of a festival I was working at years ago where my baby faced self and this other really young guy were in charge of the volunteers who were mostly middle aged and elderly ladies. we were the bosses and they were old enough to be our mothers, which is an .... interesting dynamic

also having such a baby face means a lot of people who don't know me assume I'm a student or just graduated or something, and occationally I run into people who I know from way back but haven't met in years, and they obviously know I'm not a student because they remember me from like 10 years ago so they treat me completely different

on the other hand, looking like a kid means I can be a bit harder on the ACTUAL students when they don't do their job because coming from a grumpy middle aged guy it's much worse than coming from just another kid, and the middle aged guys love me for it

Unironically, vegans need to be advocating for more and better sheep, llama, and alpaca farms. Wool is one of the best fabrics we have in terms of versatility, longevity and most importantly, insulation. Even wet, it retains 80% of it’s insulation potential.

AND IT DOESN’T SHED MICROPLASTICS

So this weekend I found myself chatting with an established comic writer, he asked me about my interest in the matter and I told him I ran a webcomic but before he could even respond I qualified it with;

“Well it’s a fan comic, I’m not a real comic creator.” He was appalled.

“What do you mean you’re not a real comic creator?” He demanded. “Do you have a comic?”

“Well yeah but its a fan comic its not a real-” He literally put his hand on my shoulder to stop me.

“You have a comic. You made a comic. You’re putting in the work. You’re a real comic creator.” He told me about how one of the people he works with on a comic started by writing Mass Effect fanfiction even. I’ve been thinking about that ever since.

I’ve thought about how many times I’ve heard myself and other say things like, “Oh, I’m a writer but I write fanfiction not like real writing.” And thats so bullshit, he was right. 

If you write you’re a writer, end of story.
