One thing that drove Duan crazy, was not being in on the LK war...his blood pumped for shit like that. He was a monster at heart, and it seemed like they were doing just too much on Mike’s, his, and yea, even Dro’s turf. 

It made him furious and angry, he felt helpless sometimes because he swore to Mike he’d stay on the straight path, cause when Duan went off...he did just that, GO OFF.

Duan and Nessa were fine, but when her relationship with her father was starting to burn a gap into their fantasy, shit got real. That’s like asking me to turn my back on him.” He looked at her. “I’ll just keep my eyes on him. Make sure he’s not putting a danger to us, them....and him. As far as protecting him, if him and Mike ever come to that point...”

Duan left the rest of the sentence for her to figure out.

Her father was back to his old ways and the news told it all. Everyday she was scared that she would get that unwanted phone call. Then on top of it all Duan knew something about it all.

"We should talk. You wanna start." Nessa knew the men she had in her life, but the both made promises to her.

One thing about Duan, he wasn’t a liar...if she asked him, he’d tell her. Reason why he didn’t go into detail at her party was because he had a full night planned for her including a proposal, wasn’t shit messing that up. Duan knew a conversation had to be held, and he was going to go into this thing as respectful as possible. She knew how much his blood boiled for the streets and not in a good way. He was addicted to that lifestyle, and to be honest, he definitely was considering Quincy’s offer of working with him. However, Nessa was his priority now, he had to think about the future. She was his future, and he didn’t want her to be in even MORE danger while working for her father. That meant double the caution, and to be frank, he didn’t want to spend his life protecting her in that way. He wanted to be legit.

“Your father asked me to join him...I backed down.” He looked dead at her. “I won't lie, I was considering it. You know how strongly I feel about this but....basketball taking me to new heights, and we gettin’ married. I just aint got it in me to mess up a good life we building.”
