Deductions in the parking lot
A few days ago, after an unfortunately lengthy series of events, I was sitting in a car in a parking lot in a grocery store plaza. After a while I started seeing a variety of people come and go quite frequently. The deductions quickly began to flow in and a natural economy of thoughtful reasoning took place; here is how 1 and a half minutes of it went:
0 seconds to 7 seconds
Subject AA (inside of car / Subject AB): i - Female, ii - approx. 05′ 05″, iii - hair straightened and well groomed with slight curling at back of neck, iv - middle aged, v - talking on cellphone using left hand, vi - looking through papers partially on dashboard directly infront at steering wheel and likely in lap, vii - eyebrows lowered and pupils small, viii - orbital muscles around eyes unmoving and in a somewhat natural position, ix - wrinkles are primarily in middle of forehead and at edges of the mouth near the chin, x - long multichained earings and thin silky shortsleaved shirt with neutral coloured design.
8 seconds to 12 seconds
Subject AB (vehicle of Subject AA): i - neutral pale green colour, ii - SUV which holds approx. 5 people, iii - clean and very little sign of children, iv - two local high school band member car stickers displayed symmetrically in lower middle region of back of car, v - no cracks or scratches visible on vehicle.
13 seconds to 15 seconds
Subject BB (parked vehicle without driver): i - pale, champagne coloured, ii - mix of luxury and a sedan, iii - clean, no dents or scratches anywhere hold the discolouration of the tinting in the windows, likely due to heat and a poor tinting job, iv - parked in front row directly next to grocery store, v - soft non leather seats.
15 seconds to 40 seconds
Subject BA (person connected to Subject BB): i - male, ii - approx. 06′ 00″, iii - hair short and well groomed, iv - champagne coloured suit matching car with little to no dips and bends at the collar bone and shoulder, v - holding all bags of groceries in right hand as he walks across road, vi - walking in a straight path barely moving off tangent to curve around a ledge, vii - opening front passenger door by tapping button in pocket, viii - putting grocery bags into back passenger seats one at a time from outside the front passenger seat door, ix - newly empty hand is partially open with fingers slightly curving to make a crescent, x - driving out of parking lot a longer way rather than going straight into the main road.
41 seconds to 48 seconds
Subject CA (walking from grocery store to car): i - male, ii - approx. 05′ 10″ and hunched over slightly, iii - hair gray with age and a little long to the ears and neck, iv - looking down at road as he walks towards his vehicle, v - holding grocery bags in both hands.
49 seconds to 60 seconds
Subject CB (vehicle connected to Subject CA): i - SUV mini van type vehicle, ii - dark blue colour, iii - little to no signs of  children, iv - very old and unattended to for years, v - window tints and roof paint peeling and bubbling from extended heat exposure.
61 seconds to 85 seconds
Subject AA  is a middle aged female that was short for her age most of her life, especially during high school. She is a good planner but not good at having multiple events occur at once as she’s not really paying attention to the phone call she’s having with her left hand, mostly focused on the papers in front of her using her dominant right hand. Very organisation concerned and planning focused she has put her children’s band member stickers very symmetrically on the back of her newly purchased vehicle, likely bought when the youngest child reached high school based on the cleanliness and complete lack of signs of children. She is likely a teacher of some sort, possibly at the high school however that can’t be said for sure. Based on her already seen preferences I would say either English or Math.
Subject BA is a middle aged male that is driven by seeking control over his personal internal and external world. As a manager he fulfills his preference of control. However, as much as he seeks control he is too often controlled by obsessive behaviors, but little to no compulsive behaviors, as he cautiously puts his groceries, with arms stretched far where intruders would be sitting. He doesn’t own a garage and if he does it holds a more important car, whether it’s his or someone else’s.
Subject CA is a late middle aged male that is almost completely based on morals. Living without children for likely a decade and a half now I’d say he cares for his wife even though he’s not a thorough planner, which would mean she’s either not well for long periods of time or there is no wife at all and he’s such a bad planner that he mistreats his vehicle intensively without the help of growing children.
86 seconds to 90 seconds
Subject AA Mind - Focused, Intelligent, Under Pressure Heart - Compassionate, Strict, Loving Hands - Tender, Soft, Steady Personality: Stable Oriented People Oriented Detail Oriented Moral Oriented Future Oriented Redevelopment Oriented
Subject BA Mind - Intelligent, Clear, Precise Heart - Cold, Uncanny, Inscrutable Hands - Steady, Fast, Powerful Personality: Stable Oriented Task Oriented Detail Oriented Data Oriented Future Oriented Reinforcement Oriented
Subject CA Mind - Unthinking, Unconscientious, Possibly Damaged Heart - Compassionate, Loving, Insecure Hands - Tender, Soft, Shaky Personality: Change Oriented Task Oriented Concept Oriented Moral Oriented Present Oriented Redevelopment Oriented
So I hope this was insightful to how deduction works. I would put more in here but this took forever to type in an organised manner. Also I would like to say that the ending personality notations are based on a personality system that I’ve been developing. If there’s anything you think I should’ve deduced, please let me know. - M.C.

19 year-old Bridget Shiel was a blossoming musician and model when her life was tragically taken on May 31st, 2016. She was shot in the head shortly after 1am at Oakland Park, located in southwest Atlanta, Georgia. There were no cameras or people around to witness the crime; police are only aware of the time she was shot because they received a 911 call at 1:06am from a man who heard gunshots coming from the park. Just a few hours later, Bridget’s naked body was found inside the park. She had been shot seven times in the back while running away from her assailant.
Investigators have pieced together a timeline on Bridget’s final hours before her death. On the evening of May 30th, Bridget spoke on the phone with a friend at 10:53pm. According to that friend, everything seemed fine with Bridget during their conversation. At 11:23pm, just 30 minutes later, things seemed to be far from fine for Bridget. At that time, a witness saw Bridget at a Shell gas station on Memorial Drive, 20 miles away from the park where she would later be shot. She was sitting in the backseat of her own car, accompanied by two men. The witness told police that Bridget appeared to be in distress, and that it looked like “she was acquainted with the two men, but uncomfortable about being with them.” Investigators believe those men were holding her captive. Less than two hours later, Bridget was shot and killed in the park.
The men who were seen with Bridget at the gas station are still unidentified, and no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named in the case. Bridget’s loved ones are desperately hoping for justice in her case. There is currently a $10,000 reward for anyone who can solve the case. If you have any information that could help solve Bridget’s murder, please contact the Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (404-577-8477).

Forensic Friday!
Tumblr media
This forensic Friday is all about the infamous murders of Andrew and Abby Borden, who were allegedly killed by their daughter (Abby’s step-daughter) Lizzie Borden.
Now, I’m sure most of us have heard the rhyme that goes along with this gruesome crime. It’ s completely false.
Abby Borden was hit a total of 18 times (in the rhyme she was struck 40 times). The first blow was right above her ear which caused her to fall face down (forensics say that she was facing her attacker at first) and the rest of the damage was done to the back of her head. At the time of her death, she was 64 years old and 5′3″
More Specific Damage Includes:
-The chest and abdomen were opened by one incision from chin to pubis.
-Stomach and part of bowel had been removed.
Andrew Borden was struck 11 times (the rhyme said he was struck 41 times). When he was attacked he was sleeping on the couch as shown in the photo above. The damage that was done to his eyeballs gives the sign that he was still asleep (one eye was split open). At the time of Death, Andrew was 70 years old and 5′11“
More specific damage:
-Stomach and part of the liver were removed
-Chest and abdomen opened by one incision extending from neck to pubis

This Medieval Italian Man Replaced His Amputated Hand With a Weapon
Tumblr media
Archaeologists have found a fascinating puzzle in the shape of a man’s remains dating back to medieval Italy. It looks like this guy went through life with a knife attached to his arm, in place of his amputated hand.
The skeleton in question was found in a Longobard necropolis in the north of Italy, dating back to around the 6th to 8th centuries CE. Hundreds of skeletons were buried there, as well as a headless horse and several greyhounds, but this particular skeleton stood out.
He was an older male, aged between 40 and 50, and his right arm had been amputated around the mid-forearm.
The researchers, led by archaeologist Ileana Micarelli of Sapienza University in Rome, determined that the hand had been removed by blunt force trauma, but exactly how or why is impossible to tell. Read more.

“FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE, CATCH ME BEFORE I KILL MORE. I CANNOT CONTROL MYSELF.”
A note left on the wall by serial killer William Heirens (more commonly known as the lipstick killer) at the scene of the murder of his second victim Frances Brown (33).
Harry S. Truman was the President of the United States when Lipstick Killer William Heirens first confessed to his crimes. He then spent 65 years in prison for the serial killing of three women in the Chicago area before dying in March 2012 age 83.
The victims of Heirens were Josephine Ross, Frances Brown and six year old Suzanne Degnan. Josephine Ross had her face covered before being stabbed to death. Frances Brown was shot and stabbed to death. Suzanne Degnan was dismembered.
The Lipstick Killer appeared to have an uncontrollable urge to attack and kill women. Although Heirens was convicted of the Lipstick Killer murders he later recanted his initial confession to police claiming he was coerced into confessing by police brutality. However, it was recorded that the Lipstick Killer urinated and defecated in the apartments of the women he murdered - which Heirens also did in the apartments he burgled prior.

1,500-year-old hidden mini-statue discovered in Yungang Grottoes
TAIYUAN – A Chinese archaeologist has accidentally discovered a 1,500-year-old mini-statue hidden in a small hole in the Yungang Grottoes in north China’s Shanxi Province.
The small statue, which was seriously eroded, was found on the west side of the No.16 Cave by Wang Yanqing, a researcher with the Yungang Grottoes Research Institute, when he was surveying the caves during the institute’s routine maintenance last year.
The statue is 20 centimeters high, and the small hole where it was hidden is 11.5 meters above the ground. It depicts a half-length figure with wide shoulders and a muscular chest and abdomen, with two arms outstretched.
The carving style was similar to statues in the No.18 Cave and had a history of 1,500 years, Wang told Xinhua. Read more.

Galilee gardener digs up medieval ring bearing smiling St. Nicholas
Tumblr media
A routine session of weeding recently yielded an unusual reward for gardener Dekel Ben-Shitrit — a rare, intact bronze ring bearing an image of the traveler’s patron saint, St. Nicholas, that was apparently dropped by a medieval-era pilgrim making his or way to the Galilee in Israel’s north.
Ben-Shitrit, 26, was working in the garden in Moshav Hayogev in the Lower Galilee when he noticed something unusual in the planting bed.
“I rubbed it slightly and I saw it was carved with a human image inside a frame,” he later recalled.
A resident of nearby Kibbutz Hazorea, he posted a photo of the find on Facebook, hoping to get some information.
A kibbutz neighbor, Dror Ben-Yosef, director of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority’s Lower Galilee Education Center, saw it and put Ben-Shitrit in touch with the Israel Antiquities Authority. Read more.

Your lie will be more convincing if you have to pee when you tell it. Because of a phenomenon called the ‘inhibitory spillover effect,’ the need to control your bladder also forces your brain to activate more self-control, which helps hide the tells you have when fibbing. Source Source 2

Caroline Robertson (right) was obsessed with 15-year-old Rachel Barber, a neighbor whom she used to babysit in Melbourne, Victoria. From a young age, Caroline suffered from extreme self-esteem issues and frequently drew disgusting self-portraits and scrawled hateful words about her physical appearance. That’s why she became fixated on Rachel, a young, pretty, and talented dancer who, in Caroline’s eyes, lived the perfect life she always coveted. Her jealousy-infused rage began growing to dangerous levels once Caroline started meticulously plotting to brutally kill and disfigure the young teen in her journal, after which she planned to steal her identity and move elsewhere to start her life anew. In March 1999, Caroline lured Rachel to her apartment by promising to give her $500 if she participated in a highly confidential psychological survey. She instructed her not to tell anyone, including her boyfriend and parents. Trusting her family friend, Rachel took the opportunity to make some money and went up to Caroline’s apartment, where she was drugged and strangled to death with a phone cord. In the next two days, as Rachel’s heartbroken family desperately looked for the talented dancer, Caroline wrapped the body in two rugs and took a taxi to her father’s farm, telling the driver that she was moving a statue. She then buried her in a shallow grave right next to her pet’s grave. Twelve days later, Caroline was arrested and confessed to murdering Rachel. She was sentenced to 20 years behind bars but was released in 2015 after serving only 16 years. Caroline has allegedly reinvented herself in prison and Rachel’s parents support her release so long as she is closely monitored.

Herb Baumeister was a serial killer who operated in Indiana and possibly in Ohio, although his true motives will forever remain a mystery. Herb was said to have had a perfectly normal upbringing, but on the onset of adolescence began exhibiting antisocial behaviors such as playing with dead animals and urinating on his teacher’s desk. He was soon diagnosed with schizophrenia, although never received any treatment for it. In the 70s he got married and had three children of his own. Also in that decade he was committed to a psychiatric facility by his father. In the late 80s he founded a successful thrift store chain in Indianapolis called ‘’Sav-A-Lot’’. In the early 90s, police began investigating the mysterious disappearances of gay men who were all eerily close in age, height, and weight. Every lead resulted in a dead end, that is until a man contacted investigators to report that a man who goes by ‘’Brian Smart’’ and frequents gay bars had killed his friend and attempted to kill him as well. Police were able to track down the identity of ‘’Brian Smart’’ who turned out to be Herb Baumeister. When they informed him that he was a suspect in the men’s disappearances and asked to search his property, he refused to let them. In 1996, Herb’s wife filed for divorce and gave police permission to search their 18-acre farm while Herb was on vacation. It was then that police unearthed the bodies of eleven men. Herb is also suspected to be responsible for the murders of nine other men whose bodies were found along the corridor of Interstate 70 between Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio.
Police never had a chance to arrest the killer, as he had fled to Ontario, Canada, and shot himself in the head. He left a suicide note behind describing his failing marriage and business as reasons for why he killed himself, but nowhere did he mention the eleven men that were buried on his property. It seems that the answers his family, police, and the victims’ loved ones had been seeking were taken to the grave with him.
