How long does your milled face last
Bought a 19 oz Milwaukee last month and it’s going smooth fast. When do you replace?

Weighing a career change to GC from food/restaurant industry
Hi all
My question pertains as the title states.. I have a wholesale food production company that I think has run it's course due to burnout and the future of the food industry. I have no experience in construction other than home handiwork, so my plan of action is as follows: - concurrent courses in carpentry and plumbing at my local CC - adjacent coursework at a local Homebuilding Academy for const. mgmt with specific courses in superintendent and estimator studies. - work my ass off for a year or two learning as much as I can.
I've been to culinary school, so I understand coursework barely opens the book as to what I can learn, but I feel it can help get me up to speed and learn basic principles.
My question is: is there a skill that would be particularly helpful to learn or emphasize within the careerfield?
My end goal within this career is to be a mostly 1-5 man operation for residential projects, renovations, and repairs (basically a fancy, capable handyman).
I'm an USAF vet with a bit left of my GI Bill, so all coursework and books/fees are paid for. Been running my own business for 6 years, and have a BS in it-doesn't-matter from a past life.
Thanks!

Are they forcing it now?
Hey yall,
Im working out on a site and at the end on January, they are demanding that every single person that steps foot on this site be vaccinated.
I dont know about yall, but this seems to be going a bit too far. Its estimated that if they enforce this rule upon all the sub contractors, that the site will lose about 75% of its workforce. I dont think they owner realizes how this will affect the schedule and quality of the work thats being done.
Im not sure if the owners will win this battle, but they seem to not be stepping down.
Are yall dealing with this as well?

Question about subs
So I’m fairly new to construction. I started with a general contractor about 7 months ago. I don’t really have a problem with cleaning up after our subs because I’ve been doing it since I started but one of the other guys is always complaining about how they never clean up after themselves, but they do organize the trash they just don’t take it. Am I in the wrong for thinking it’s not a big deal?

Newbies: Don't buy your boss equipment
This is a tip for new guys starting in the trades. Don't buy major pieces of equipment needed to run a jobsite. That is the responsibility of your employer. I'm talking about things like trailers, tablesaws, etc. Don't put ladder racks on your trucks, or haul their bobcat around with your half ton. When your truck is broke down and busted, they're not going to fix it or buy you a new one. Buy the tools you carry on your person. Maybe buy some of your own power tools if you don't care for the ones provided, but don't be out looking at buying a 3/4 ton truck to pull your boss's excavator around while he's paying you $15/hr. And if that's a requirement of employment, go find a new employer.
