Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“The one whose soul craves disobedience but he leaves it for Allah, those are the ones who Allah tested their hearts with piety and for them is forgiveness and a tremendous reward.”

Shaykh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"The person must have times in which he can be alone in his supplication, zikr, prayer, contemplation, holding himself accountable, and rectifying his heart."

‎Imām Ibn al-Qayyim:

‎The heart will not be successful, rectified, find delight, rejoice, find pleasure, be at ease nor find tranquility except with the worship of its Lord, love for Him and turning to Him with repentance.

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله mentioned some signs to indicate whether a person has a sound heart, from them:

“Is that when he enters the salaah, all of his anxieties and worries concerning the Dunyā leave him, and he finds it difficult to leave the prayer.”

Ibn Wāsiʿ رحمه الله said :

“If sins had a smell, nobody would sit with me.”

قال أحد الصالحين :

One of the righteous said:

أقرأ ما شئتَ واحفظ ماشئتَ واكتب ما شئتَ،

Read whatever you want, memorise whatever you want and write whatever you want

ولكنك بغير القرآن لن تنجوَ ولن تسعد ولن تفلح.

But without the Qur’ān you will not be saved, you will not be happy and you will not succeed.

“If a Muslim seeks to live in a non-Islamic ambience, his desire to live a Muslim life will be hard to actualize.

This is due to the fact that the laws he considers defective, the taxes he considers wrong, the matters he considers illegitimate, the culture he considers ridden with immorality, the education system he considers horrible will be imposed upon him and his family, and he will not find a way out.

Thus a person or a group who believes in a value system is forced by the logic of its truth to seek its establishment in place of the opposing value system. If he does not become part of the effort to change the situation, he will prove himself to be false in his faith.”

There are some people who emulate the sunnah with so much beauty that it makes you nostalgic for a time you didn't see...

If your actions are so beautiful because you're copying our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his companions رضي الله عنهم, how must their actions and behaviour have been?

ويسألونك عن حب العزلة،

قل هي راحة من غيبة، وفرار من نميمة،

ودرء من سقطات اللسان، ورحمات من القيل والقال

And they ask you about your love for seclusion, say it is a relief from backbiting, an escape from gossip, and a means to ward off the sins of the tongue, and a mercy that keeps me away from “he said, she said”…

Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

‎“Do not think that it was your soul that drove you to doing goodness,

‎rather you are a servant who Allah loved, so do not waste this love or He will forget you”

For verily, the love of Allāhﷻ, is the ultimate goal.
