She trying to sort out the cases from today’s work in her head- autopilot kicking in as she digs her house key in the apartments door knob. The door opens and with a sigh throws her shit on a random table. Jacket gets hung up and airpods come out befoe she catches a noise that sounds like… crying-

“Benj?” Their heart is already up their throat. “I’m home, bitch.” Awkward laughter stifles out of her mouth.

Silence.

They let out a sigh. Why’d it feel like Benji was 5 again learning how to ride his bike and Her 7 year old self was watching him fall off his bike and cry when he scraped his knee?

“Where are you shithead?” She calls, her worry starting to rise in her as she walks towards the kitchen.

“El? Don’t come in here.” Its coming from the bathroom.

Eleanor spins around, looking for her brothers voice. “Where are you?”

“I’m… in the bathroom. don’t come in here.” Eleanor's heart drops in her chest immediately, her hand already on the bathroom knob, it doesn’t budge as they twist it..

“Benji... What did you do...?!" Sniffling comes from the other side of the door along with some rusting. "Hey, open the door. It's me. It's your sister." "I'm an idiot." Benji murmurs quietly from the other door. "What?" "El, I fucked up." Benji cries. "I- I'm so stupid I don't know what's wrong with me." Eleanor feels like she might pass out. She really hoped it wasn't this, but "Hey, unlock the door. Even if you're stupid you don't deserve to.. die."
