That theory about Kristina having a girlfriend back in the day when she went to Hillerska

Ever since I saw the scene where Queen Kristina talks to Wille about her “unfortunate romance” I have been thinking about this theory that says that she had a girlfriend in her time in Hillerska but she preferred to put the crown first and eventually married Ludvig and had Erik and Wille.

I think it makes a lot of sense for both Kristina's character and her relationship with Wille and her reaction to him and Simon's relationship (and also how this theory can connect to the theory that Wille is going to renounce his right to the throne when he turns 18)

This is not canon but I always believed Wille's parents' marriage was an arranged marriage or they were something like Wille and Felice "would make the perfect couple, powerful families, one is the heir to the throne and the other was raised with the idea of that she should aspire to be with someone from the royal family (as Felice's mother insisted that she should be with Wille) "

One of Wille's main conflicts is that he has to choose between love (Simon) or the crown, he can't have both and I think it would be super interesting to know that Kristina had the same conflict but she decided to choose the crown but Wille decides to choose love.

One decided to put duty above her happiness and freedom and the other chose the opposite.

i am gonna headcanon that "i don't recognize you" is directed to sara and wille storms off because simon told him about the photographers or people being nasty towards him and wille leaves to END them.

The power this whole sequence holds.

Simon looking for a sign, something telling him wilhelm can’t just be indifferent and whatever mask he put on to act so friendly would break soon. When none of it happens, he’s the one hit by the realisation that wille is giving up on them. It was never an option up until now but suddenly becomes very real, so it is strange and scary and leads simon back in his steps to ask why - why are you giving up? why do you not care? why are you not fighting back?

It feels wrong. acting completely unbothered when all simon ever wanted was for wille to fight for him out of love.

He invites marcus to the dance floor because he wants to be seen and get wille’s attention, waits for him to act jealous and shows he cares, to feel replaced, to face the fact that letting simon go and be with someone else means losing him forever . . . without knowing that wilhelm’s tears and heartbreak already helped him accept and come to term with this reality.

So in the end, it turns out to be simon’s turn to learn that expecting something from wille only shows what he really wants instead, but tries hard to mask behind: he expects wille to fight because he still cares, he’s the one who doesn’t want to be replaced, he can’t let wilhelm go, he doesn’t want to move on.

That moving on is not an option.
