Tick Tock
Tick tock the clock goes,
and inside her head she prays
there is only one hour for her
to be able to survive.
One hour that she has been given
to survive this cruel game
of fate and murder,
tick tock the clock goes.
She runs and runs
looking for an escape route,
a door that will open,
but they all seem to be stuck
and she can almost choke
on her tears and fears.
Tick tock the clock goes.
The tears falls and she begs to live
but only silence greets her
and she does what she can
to survive this wicked game,
she wants to live,
that she screams as she cries
and the only response is:
Tick tock.

Día de los Muertos
En memoria de: mis abuelos, Eliza y Manuel, y mi tia abuela, Beatriz.
English Translation under the cut.

Peaceful
How fortunate we are
to be sitting in the here and the now
in silence, surrounded by
swaying dandelions
as we do nothing but share in the present.
Our eyes are closed as the first chill
of autumn comes with
a breeze. I shiver and you
open your eyes and smiling, offer your jacket -
it won’t fit, the bulk of my sweater
ensures that,
but still I take it and throw it over like a blanket.
There are no words between us,
there is no need to
break the fragile silence
of this day -
and why should we
when a deep sense of calm
unlike any other is at hand?
No. You and I lay in silence
in the still green field listening to
nature do its thing.
And we do nothing but watch as
the dandelions sway
as we hold hands.

What a beauty this November night is,
with a rain that softly falls while
the majority of the world sleeps -
but I, that am still asleep with a cup of cocoa,
covered with warm blankets,
close my eyes and let the world narrows down
to this mug in my hands and the sound of the rain
that little by little, lulls me to sleep.

Like A Storm
You come to me like a storm I could not predict.
Shake the foundations that my beliefs had made
and turn my world on its head, but at the same time
a miracle happens and you give me enough clarity
to know that I needed your storm so I could be reborn.

Infinito

Bring Yourself To Tears
Bring yourself to tears
by remembering all those things
you said you would do and then didn’t.
Because of fear, because of anxiety
or because any other reason you told yourself
that your plans would not work at all.
Bring yourself to tears
by remembering all those things
you could have done and decided against them,
all those decisions that you let pass you by
as you did nothing more than
smile and wave as they were gone.

Stage Face
He waves to the crowd and takes a bow,
there is nothing for him to say anymore
as he steps off the stage a grin on his face,
behind him nothing but laughter is heard.
Until he reaches his dressing room and…
the grin falls, his eyes cloud with tears
he locks down the door and falls on the floor
to weep the pain he keeps locked away
until the next day, the next show when he
must put on a brave face and forget his pain.

Fragile
How fragile I turn in your hands,
those strong hands that turn my body
almost into putty -
into something boneless.
You reshape me at your will.
With every touch and every whisper
that promises eternal devotion
you make me fragile.
Because you know that a silly fool
who loves only you.

Better than a dream
Are you perhaps a dream that my mind
created to torture me with the prospect of
a romantic ideal? You feel that way.
Until you kiss me and I know
my mind could not come up with you.

Home, at Last
She tells you that she never knew a true home
and your heart breaks -
how could someone so kind, so loving
not have experienced the love they deserve?
But she also doesn’t let you speak,
instead, she burrows into your arms and says
that she has finally found her home.

The Lies You Told
Isn’t it funny how
the lies you told
finally caught up to you?
There is something
quite satisfactory
in the way your panic shows
the fact that someone
just realized that
you are nothing without lies.
For there in their eyes
you can see
disappointment and anger
at being deceived.
How could you,
they seem to say without words,
in one single look
you know
no one will believe you again.

An Autumn Day
The day is gray.
Storm cloud cover the sun
as we walk side by side
through the park.
We should know better
than to not carry
an umbrella in case
the storm comes -
but you and I,
friends since so long ago
know that only makes it
all the more thrilling,
can we walk and talk
before the storm comes?
Perhaps. Perhaps not
for the wind picks up
and the cold
feels like constant slaps
against my cheeks,
you look up
and there is a small smile
on your face and say,
perhaps we could go
and get a coffee
and talk there?
I agree and we head to
the nearest coffee shop
and let our coffees
warm our hands
and our bodies
as we reminisce about how
you and I met
thanks to a celeb.
And when the rain comes
you and I shrug
for we are safe inside
and warm
until the storm may pass.

Do You Know?
Do you know how much I want to scream
when people say, ‘oh it’s just a headache’ at me?
Do you know how frustrating it is to make them understand
that my whole face hurts, that it feels like my eyes
will pop out of their sockets.
That I have to eat soft food or liquid meals because
chewing aggravates the pain,
When all sorts of light feels like a hammer to my brain.
Do you know how hard it is to deal with the after effects,
of being dizzy and sensitive to everything?
Do you know how dismissive it is when they tell me
to get over it and have people see me walking around and
doing what I must and say, ‘oh you’re fine’ when I’m really not?
That I have to do what I must because I have to when all I want is
to lay myself in a darkened room and cry,
after dealing for several consecutive days of pure pain.
Do you know what it is to have your entire world upended
thanks to ‘just a little headache’?

A Cup of Chocolate
The nights grow colder
and my old bones crave something warm,
and while a cup of tea would be
marvelous, my longing is for something sweeter -
I grab the milk and dark chocolate,
chopping it to melt it down and make myself
a thick, sweet and slightly spicy
drink to enjoy.
I can feel the chocolate melting slowly
as I add some cayenne to my taste,
two of spoonful of sugar
and now we simply wait.
When the chocolate is ready I can see
how deliciously thick it is
as I serve myself and I
carefully take the first sip.

Encouragement
Breathe darling -
I know that it seems the end of the world
and that you will crash and burn,
but dearest -
you are much stronger than you know
and inside of you there is a fire
that burns. Channel it,
dust yourself off and raise your chin
to face the world and
prove it wrong.

The Demon & The Priest
Demons descend upon the Church
and the Priest calls for God to come to their aid.
The demon who draws near laughs and laughs
in such a mocking way as he speaks
a truth the Priest does not wish to hear:
‘Your God is not here and he will not attend
to someone whose soul is so stained
with such terrible sins.’
